danke norro für deine nachricht, ich hab es gesehen und finde es auch sehr verwirrend und irritierend, weil das ministerium es mir ja per email erlaubt hat (Image:Austria_Bundesadler.svg). ich schau es mir nochmal genauer an, ich kann jetzt leider nicht viel machen da ich im internet cafe sitze (urlaub) und mit einer i.p. addresse unterschreibe, aber danke für den hinweis. kennst du dich genauer aus mit der copyright situation, ich dachte ich haette alles getan damit es mit dem bild in ordnung ist...? 80.108.250.174 12:11, 23 December 2005 (UTC) (Gryffindor)

Hi, Gryffindor. Ein Profi in Sachen Bildlizenzen bin ich leider auch nicht. Der deutsche Antworttext des Ministeriums, den Du in der Bildbeschreibung zitierst würde ein gültiges Nutzungsrecht benennen. Lediglich der englische Satz, der die kommerzielle Nutzung ausschließt ist nicht kompatibel mit den commons. Woher kommt dieser Satz? Sofern er auch von dem Urheber/Rechteinhaber/Ministerium kommt, muss die Abbildung wohl gelöscht werden. Hallo Norro. Also ich bin noch immer verwirrt, theoretisch dürften dann keine Wappen gezeigt werden, weil alle staatlichen Wappen ja geschützt sind vor privatem Gebrauch, d.h. ich darf nicht ein Produkt verkaufen (oder auf einer Internetseite für kommerziele Zwecke) und dabei das staatliche Wappen verwenden wenn es nicht ausdrücklich von den staatlichen Behörden genehmigt wurde. Das ist ja mit "commercial use" gemeint. Zum Beispiel habe ich auf das amerikanische Great Seal geschaut [1], das dürfte doch laut Logik des Users SPUI dann auch nicht auf den Commons sein, oder? Und was ist dann mit dem deutschen Wappen? [2]? Soweit ich weiß dürfen alle staatlichen Wappen nicht für "commercial advertisement" benutzt werden, dies gilt auch für das deutsche, etc... oder was soll diese Commons Leitlinie genau bedeuten? Vielleicht müßten wir eine extra Template nur für österreichische staatliche Wappen aufstellen?

Ich habe damals bei etlichen Ministerien nach einer Bildversion gefragt, das Verteidigungministerium hat freundlicherweise mir eines zur Verfügung gestellt, ein anderes hat mich auf das Verteidigungsministerium verwiesen. Insofern scheinen die im Augenblick die einzigen zu sein, die eine gute Version vom Wappen haben. Ich habe denen mein Anliegen bekannt gegeben, die haben es erlaubt, ich weiß nicht was ich noch alles tun muß. und es ist ziemlich ärgerlich nach all dieser Mühe, daß ein User einfach kommt und sagt hm... delete this image. also eine Lösung muß es sicherlich geben. freue mich auf Deine Antwort, Frohe Festtage noch. Hi Gryffindor. Du sagst, das Verteidigungsministerium hat einer Veröffentlichung zugestimmt. Die Frage ist, welchen Bedingungen genau sie zugestimmt haben. Gehe ich recht in der Annahme, dass Du ihnen vorher das Ziel des Uploads (commons) oder sogar die nötigen Lizenzbedingungen genannt hast? Wenn sie explizit einer Veröffentlichung unter einer der Lizenzen zugestimmt haben, die hier auf den commons zulässig sind, ist die Sache erledigt und das Bild bleibt.

Vielleichts chickst Du mir einfach mal die Email-Kommunikation (also Deine Anfrage + Antwort/Einwilligung des Ministeriums) zu, dann schau ich mal drüber. Liebe Grüße, norro 16:20, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

Hallo Norro, leider hast Du meine Frage oben (über der ausgestrichenen) noch immer nicht beantwortet (sicherlich nur übersehen). Staatliche Wappen dürfen ja prinzipiell auf den Commons gezeigt werden, richtig? Deshalb der Vorwand von dem User:SPUI wegen commercial use ist ja irrelevant, da jedes staatliche Wappen nicht für kommerzielle Zwecke verwendet werden darf, es sei denn diese Verwendung wird ausdrücklich erteilt. Speed of animated GIFs in Firefox/IE

(regarding Template:Featured pictures candidates/Image:Steam locomotive work.gif) It's true!! :) I tried to find a page explaining it in Google, but I couldn't find a good one. But it really is true. for example this one says And, for a final word on the speed of animated GIFs, though I prefer Netscape's browser, I have found that animated GIFs often cycle quicker when viewed with Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

On http://www.livejournal.com/ people have small pictures to use as "icons", and I have seen a few times, some that seem ridiculously quick, and it's because I use Firefox and the creator uses IE.

Hi Dennis, danke für den Hinweis. Ich weiß nicht, warum ich diese Bilder damals nicht ausreichend getagt hatte. Die Upload wurde über den File-Uplaod-Service in Auftrag gegeben und der Fotograf hat einer Lizensierung unter GFDL zugestimmt. Die Bilder sind jetzt entsprechend markiert. Bitte um Bildbearbeitung

Schon vor einigen Wochen hast du eines meiner Bilder (gärung.jpg) freundlicherweise in Ethanol fermentation de.svg umgewandelt und hier in den commons gelagert. Beim Review zur Kandidaturvorbereitung ist mir jetzt ein kleiner Fehler aufgefallen: das zweite Enzym (blaue Schrift) heißt Pyruvat-Decarboxylase. Da ist das o abhanden gekommen. Außerdem haben meine Nachforschungen ergeben, dass man Enzymnamen auf deutsch zusammenschreibt. Das heißt, was im Bild nach dem Bindestrich kommt (Decarboxylase und Dehydrogenase) bitte kleinschreiben. Ich werde das im Artikeltext noch ändern. Danke, -- Abigail

i belive the information you took out from the image is what ilustrator calls "keep illustrator editing capavilities" the option makes the file a bit bigger but it can be reopened in inllustrator and changed. the reason why i do it this way is so that anyone that wishes to edit the image, make a diferent language or add more elements. can do it without problems... when you wish to upload the other one instead go ahead... if the quality remains i do nop opose myselfLadyofHats 17:03, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Ferrofluid FPC candidate

Howdy! per your comments on the FP nomination page, I've located the original image and uploaded it. It's less striking as a thumbnail, though the added resolution and surrounding whitespace probably help the larger version. Please check again to see if this new image satisfies the requirements. If not, I'd appreciate any comments on how to improve the image (or any direct help!), since I'm fairly inexperienced at this, and don't have a particularly good eye for composition, or any Photoshop skills to speak of. :) GeeJo 23:24, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Hilferuf wegen Bildbearbeitung

Hallo norro, vor vielen Wochen einmal hast du eines meiner Bilder in .svg umgewandelt (jetzt Image:Ethanol_fermentation_de.svg). Nach einigem Rumprobieren habe ich jetzt selbst mal ein .svg mit dem Programm Inkscape erstellt (Image:Methanol_degradation.svg). Im Programm sah es auch ganz normal aus, aber sobald ich es hochlud, verschwand eine Pfeilspitze und der Hintergrund wurde transparent, obwohl ich weiß eingestellt hatte. Klickt man in der Bildbeschreibung auf den Link direkt unterm Bild [3], erscheint es aber wieder so wie es sein sollte. Ich verwende das Bild in de:alkoholische Gärung und da sieht es auch verstümmelt aus. Was ist da passiert? Ich kenne sonst niemanden, der vielleicht Ahnung von sowas hat und ich hoffe, du kannst mir helfen. --Abigail 20:18, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Abigail. Ich kenne zum Glück die Gründe für die beiden genannten Effekte. a) Pfeilspitze: Du hast alles richtig gemacht, der Fehler liegt in diesem Fall bei der Software Batik, die von dem MediaWiki zum Anzeigen von SVGs verwendet wird. Da man nicht davon ausgehen kann, dass alle Benutzer SVGs anzteigen können, werden die SVGs nämlich auf dem Server vorgerendert und als Pixelgarfiken ausgegeben. Dabei gehen wohl die Pfeilspitzen verloren. Ich habe damals bei der Grafik Image:Ethanol_fermentation_de.svg die Pfeilspitzen von Hand gemalt, wie Du erkennen wirst, wenn Du die Grafik mit Inkscape öffnest. Klickt man auf den Link unter dem Bild, wird nicht mehr das vorgerenderte, sondern die Original-SVG angezeigt und die Pfeilspitzen sind demnach zu sehen. b) weißer Hintergrund: SVGs haben keinen Hintergrund. Diese Eigenschaft gibt es bei SVGs nicht. Du kannst Dir damit helfen, einfach ein weißes Rehcteck in den Hintergrund der Grafik zu legen. Allerdings ist in der Regel bei Grafiken ein transparenter Hintergrund nicht verkehrt. Viel Erfolg, norro 20:30, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Joaquim. Did Corel Draw create an SVG-File? If that's the case, please try to upload it. Sometimes the proprietary software write binary data insise the SVG files. I will see, if I can extract it. If Corel Draw didn't managed to write the SVG-File, try to save it as Encapsulated Postscript (.eps - I think, that is supported by Corel Draw) and send it to me. I think, I can convert it to SVG. See below, I just opened the source code with inkscape and saved it as plain SVG. I don't know really, but I think, there was some parasitic stuff in there, that was deleted that way. Kindly, norro 22:35, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Joaquim. The SVG version is now working. Here is how I did it:

1. I opened the SVG [4] (not the rendered version) and saved it to my computer.
2. Had a look at the source code with a simple text editor to find binary data or other parasitic stuff, that might have been written by Corel Draw. (I didn't find anything like that)
3. I opened it with inkscape and saved it as "Plain SVG" (you can select that when saving a SVG with inkscape).
4. Done. :)

• Thank you so much for your interest and effort. But I don't think the adventure is over. Look at the sextant's frame: all the polygons should be hollow, not fiiled with gray...   I think, that may be a caching issue on the wikimedia servers. 'Cause as you said, there is no problem with the german version and it's exactly the same apart from the text. If you want to have information about what I did, just ask me. By the way: I managed to reduce the size of the SVG file to about 60% of its original size. The text wasn't written but painted in the original version. Now it's pure text and can simply be changed when translating the image. The application Inkscape was a great help during working on this illustration, you should have a look at it. Kindly, norro 21:32, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Vernier caliper

Here is the svg version you asked for: Image:Vernier caliper.svg (the image doesn't appear but I think it's a caching problem of Wikipedia that will be solved with time(?)). It was done in CorelDraw 9, converted to png and then imported by Inkscape and finally converted to svg. I'm afraid the numbers aren't real text, that's because the image was imported as a block to Inkscape. I still need some time to learn how to work directly with this application. Awesome job on the new wing illustration... Only thing now is the numbers are pretty messed up. Make sure they're all centered (optically), and convert the text to paths before saving.
