Re: File:Hunyad Castle TB1.jpg[edit]

Thank you! I really like how the shot turned out too. It's a very unique and beautiful castle that I wanted to visit for long before I had the chance this summer, and it was definitely worth the wait! I was lucky to have a nice cloudy background and good lighting on this side too! Best, TodorBozhinov (talk) 23:14, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Blackness Castle potential FP[edit]

I don't think it'll pass here - there's some funny artefacting - but it may pass on en-wiki, given the difficulty of the image to get - that's from the air, isn't it? (I live in Edinburgh, if you didn't know, so know the area), so it seems like you could make a decent argument there based on difficulty of image, provided you point out the geography - that appears to be from over the forth. WLM in Wales[edit]

Many thanks; that the criteria / hierarchy we use on w-cy too; I should have stuck to it! Diolch! Llywelyn2000 (talk) 06:59, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Melbourne Castle[edit]

My image was taken directly from the digital scan of the book, and apart from cropping slightly (the image wasn't quite square on the book page) and softening out some digital moire, I made no other changes. Commenting on the earlier image, Usher considers it accurate, but with the perspective somewhat awry. I suspect that the same can be said of this. AFAIK, these are the only images of the castle while intact, so they will both go into the article. Jimfbleak (talk) 06:03, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I missed a scaling error during rotation of the original page, fixed and reloaded Jimfbleak (talk) 07:10, 17 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming requests at File:Simple Pleasures.jpg[edit]

According to Commons:FR#Which files should not be renamed?, files with same name with Commons and local wikis exist, then local files should be renamed. So I rejected your request. Regards, --레비ReviD✉CM 10:12, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's fair enough, and probably would have been simpler in any case I have admin rights on the English Wikipedia. Nev1 (talk) 19:58, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 20:30, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Guess that means I was clogging up recent changes for a while. I'm oddly pleased about that. Nev1 (talk) 20:58, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File:East Ham - London 2013.jpg[edit]

Hi, Nev1.
That pictures was taken in East Ham, London. The exact place I think is Central Park Road. There aren't any buildings in that picture of particular historical interest, just normal residential houses. I updated this picture because the snow and the trees look nice. I didn't understand very well the scope and the rules of WikiLoves Monuments, so if this image can't be accepted as part of WikiLoves Monuments I think you can freely change the categorization. --Daniele Pugliesi (talk) 23:01, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
