Woodcarved polychromed reliefs by Martin Vinazer[edit]

Perfect for the insertion but it lacks the scope I am proposing, "polychromed reliefs Woodcarved Vinazer by Martin." Good Day. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 06:35, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! But the following makes more sense: "Polychromed reliefs woodcarved by Martin Vinazer". Unfortunately I do not know how to insert the text. Could you please let me know? Regards--Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 07:32, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, you edit the SET (as if you wanted to vote) and you add the text under the heading "Scope". --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 07:46, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comments Quite good picture, but, I think, it is necessary to correct balance white (a yellow shade), the left inclination and it is possible to add contrast. --Aleks G 23:02, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Info There is a natural inclination of the bridge which rises from the left to the right side of the river. The picture itself is not tilted. The light of pale sun shining in that afternoon was yellowish, should I correct it? QI Landscapes[edit]

I loved all 4 of your landscapes at screen resolution but when I went full resolution I thought they all seemed unusually soft especially for the fine camera you were using. Did you sharpen them before uploading? Saffron Blaze (talk) 22:52, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks a lot for your appreciation - Usually I try to manipulate pictures coming out of my camera as little as possible. I prefer to have soft images and I don't like to sharpen them at all. In these pictures taken some years ago I used a low aperture, as I was accustomed with analogue photography. Now, I was told that an aperture higher then 8 reduces the sharpness of the image. That is the reason why they might look smooth and not sharp enough. Is this the point?. Best regards --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 00:50, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Diffraction above F8 can soften images although F10 isn't too bad, but it might be in play with those at F16. I suspect that it may have more to do with the lack of shrpening in the PP. Digital images usually need some sharpening either in camera or during PP due to the nature of the sensors. Regardless of the reason I think a small bit of sharpening could realy make these pop even at full res. Cheers. Saffron Blaze (talk) 01:05, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for your information, but I still have to become more confident with sharpening. I use Photoshop Elements, do you have suggestions? --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 01:09, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I use Photoshop CS 3 so I suspect you will have "Unsharp mask" under "Sharpening" in the Filters list. Try it with conservative setting. I use a small radius (1.7 - 2.4 pixels) and perhaps just 20-40% with threshold at 1 or 0. That is usually enough to sharpen up a hi res image without degrading anything. You don't want to do too much as that will emphasise any noise in the image as well. I tried it with this file Plans_de_Cunfin_y_Dantersasc_te_Gherdëina_.jpg and I think you would like the results. Saffron Blaze (talk) 12:08, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE:intentional[edit]

No, my reasoning is whether the composition is correct? The seagull should not be distracting from the actual subject as the existence of the seagull would draw at least some attention of the person viewing the image to itself. Please see image guidelines.

  • The arrangement of the elements within the image should support depiction of the subject, not distract from it.
  • Foreground and background objects should not be distracting.

If the seagull adds positively to the image, then I'll support but if it is distracting, then I'll oppose.--Gauravjuvekar (talk) 06:11, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gauravjuvekar! Thanks a lot for clarifying this and the WP POV to me. In that sense I should say that it was intentional. I strongly believe that the seagull is not distracting like a small antenna which was retouched, on the contrary imho the bird makes the monument with a long and very interesting history and which is not in a museum but on a very trafficked square, much livelier and does not disturb imo the artistic value of it or the observer who wants to appreciate it from the artistical point of view. I could have waited otherwise for the bird to fly away, while imho it is a good "snapshot".I hope you'll agree with that. Best regards!--Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 14:40, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

chromatische Aberrationen[edit]

Hallo Wolfgang,
Viele Grüße vom Niederrhein --kaʁstn Disk/Cat 21:00, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kirche St. Jakob hinten[edit]

Also Gruss an Napa Valley --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 09:00, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Kein Problem. --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 03:47, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Frank, according to user:Carschten there is an other problem with this image. Your correction of CA caused the church to become less sharp - do you think you can fix it? Regards --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 12:59, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Moroder,

Thanks for helpful comments and kind support.
I understand what you mean about the "tilt" of this picture. I've tried a correction by rotation, but when the issue is solved below (near the capitals, for instance), then I have a new tilt above, the series of helmets is no more horizontal.
That is why I think it is a natural perspective effect, not a "distortion". I could "stretch" the picture artificially, but in this case, the result will look unnatural (I've tried). I'm sorry.
As for the crop. Do you think I must crop out the capitals of the columns (then the "tilt" will look very more "visible") ?
Next time (if any...), I'll try to take a frontal picture ... e basta !
Anyway, thanks again for support.
As Austrian, I don't know what do you think about the capital of your country, but as foreign visitor, I can say that I am absolutely fan !
I hope that my pictures of Vienna will be attractive for new other visitors, because it is really a city to be seen !
Greetings from Paris, --Jebulon (talk) 01:05, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jebulon, Thanks a lot for reviewing and appreciating so many of my pictures. I feel that not always perspective shoult be artificially altered as I already expressed in some of my reviews. Definetly I believe that taking out the capitals of your pictures would do a lot of good, I havn't tried it though on your foto.
To tell you the truth I am not Austrian but South Tyrolean, former Austria and now we are Italians... That does not mean that I don't like our former capital... Best regards Wolfgang --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 18:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Caro fratello d'Italia  ;) !
I'm trully and deeply sorry with my mistake about your nationality. I hope I did not hurt you in any way, if yes, I apologize, and obviously it was not my intention... Really, I was sure you were Austrian (You have a german name, you speak german "als Muttersprache", most of your pictures have a "south germanic" mood IMO, even the ones of the sculptures by your ancestors...). History of our old Europe is somewhat strange, isn't it ? Again, I'm sorry. But Vienna is a very nice city, anyway!--Jebulon (talk) 10:25, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Mon cher ami, you don't have to be sorry and by no way to apologize because my nationality is a bit complex and I feel more Austrian or Tyrolean (you noticed it from my pictures...), althogh I don't regret to have the Italian citizenship since they took off Berlusconi (which is a shame) from the government. Vienna is marvellous (it is one of the first big cities I visited in my youth) and I appreciate the many beautyful pictures you shot there. Stay well!--Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 11:07, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The mysterious story of the floating sarcophagus[edit]

salut, Ô Moroder !

Thanks for (numerous) comments about my pictures.
Do you know the place ?
as you surely know, the Kaisergruft in Vienna is a crypt (a series of crypts) under the Capuchins church. As a crypt, it is very dark. And as it is a cemetery, I thought that I could not (respect due to the resting place) use mono nor tripod, neither flashlight, for the pictures of sarcophagi. Then, I had to wait for long exposures, then I had to put my camera along walls, fences, etc... In order to avoid motion blur.
In this special case, I took a very very tilted picture, and therefore I had to correct the tilt with my software by rotation.
But obviously, when the sarcophagus was at least reasonably horizontal, the rest of the picture around was no more a good rectangle, obviously!
so I decided to chose one of the colors of the real background (light grey, from the wall), and I made a mask (manually) all around the main subject.
That is the tale of the quest of the QI !--Jebulon (talk) 22:03, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
BtW, there is no garbage behind the mermaid, only the scenery of the not-in-use attraction ! --Jebulon (talk) 22:03, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is a pleasure and very constructive to have a fair discussion with you. Sorry for the garbage, the right word oviously in a metaphoric sanse would be junk. I am not good in making backgrounds but don't yoiu think you can make a fading backgound which probably would look a bit more solid. I understand that the conditions to take the pictures were not good specially without a tripod and a light, for that the picture is really good. - I don't remember the Kaisergruft very well, I've been there in the sixties.

I don't use a denoising tool but what ads noise in my opinion is the tool to lighten the dark spots like in the altars (you promoted one and declined the other (I agree the picture is not really top) best regards --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 07:50, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PS:the Erzherzogin sarcophagus: no, I did not use a tripod. I just hold firmly my camera along a wall (or a column), and let's go, hope and pray, with the remote control. Anyway, impressive place, no doubt...--Jebulon (talk) 16:09, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comments I am concerned about the file size given the megapixels this has, however, this is a stunnig photograph and the annotations make it very informative. Nice work. -- Saffron Blaze 22:21, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Worauf muss man überhaupt achten?? Viele Grüsse, Poco a poco (talk) 21:26, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's a curious lighter patch on the right. Was this taken through a window? Also could do with a brighter sky IMO. Mattbuck 23:07, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reviewing! No it was taken from the chairlift. I gess different reflection from the snow on the trees. Why a lighter sky? The picture was taken in the morning (Aspen time)--Moroder 05:59, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
