Image duplicates[edit]

If you find two identical (or scaled-down) images please tag the worse one with {{duplicate|originalimage.jpg}}. There's no need to use a eletion request to get this image removed. --Denniss 16:50, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have proposed renaming the above category, which has been established with an incorrect spelling of the subject. Ohconfucius 05:00, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:TsuenWan-PositionWithinHKSAR.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Nude deletions[edit]

Though you might stay with your arguments, you also might want to reconsider your vote because of a new element: the author of the photographies is apparently a quite famous Dutch artist called Peter Klashorst. Therefore, the potential of this picture is also to illustrate his work. This concerns the following deletion requests (but maybe you haven't voted on all of them):

Of course you're free to keep your vote as it was. Thanks for your comprehension. --86.67.47.175 07:44, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are both of these really Sai Yeung Choi Street South? I remember the second one as running parallel to Argyle (several blocks down though) whereas the first was vertical to it. Unless my recollection is wrong. --BrokenSphere 18:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I can reupload the images under the more accurate names that you suggested (e.g. where the trams are) instead of them being moved. BrokenSphere 19:25, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two things[edit]

Two (2) things. First I'd like to express my appreciation for your quality contributions to the Commons. I'm often bemused by my inability to articulate the moving effect of a photo like "Lion_Rock" even while it is arresting my attention. So thanks again for taking the time to provide us with an unique window into your world through a fine series of photos. Second, I need to apologize for my inappropriate invasion into Category:Rural_Committees. Please excuse me and thanks for patiently taking out the category errors in my image pages. Oddly enough I inadvertently spammed a category even though that was the last thing I wanted to do. The problem is that I can experience dyslexic type problems when rushed. What happened was that I misread "Committees" as "Communities" and I admittedly never picked up on the error until I was reviewing the two legitimate photos in that category just now. Again I'm sorry and can assure you that I'll not make this particular mistake again. Actually, if you had pointed the problem out to me, then I'd have happily removed all my bad pages from "Rural Committees" myself. So if you catch any other screw-ups on my part that require much work to fix, then kindly throw that monkey on my back (where it belongs) and I'll take care of the tedious repairs.

Incidentally, I invite you to check out Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:GT056-Antigua_TitTwins.jpeg. This is apparently another instance where I'm off on some specific detail. My whole contribution however, is being targeted for deletion. Plus my access could be entirely blocked which would prevent me from correcting anything. I'm merely want to know precisely what is needed to fix my pages. Then again you could elect to facilitate the elimination of this trouble maker from the Commons. !l 22:37, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Minghong,
do you know whether the sculpture in Image:Pillar of Shame in Orange 1.jpg is installed permanently at this place or only for a special event or a limited time? Please see here. --Túrelio (talk) 12:32, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About your user page[edit]

I advise you to split your user page User:Minghong into smaller parts because the page is too heavy to load. Build sub-pages to place the images in categories. Thank you. LRT505 (talk) 16:36, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deprecated License[edit]

Hello. Thank you for uploading Image:ATE35.jpg, however the license that you have uploaded it under has been deprecated. Please could you select a new free license that describes the rights of the image correctly? If you are not able to do this, the image will be deleted in 7 days.

For more information on licenses that can be used on Wikimedia Commons, please see Commons:Licensing. If you have any questions, please ask at the village pump. Thank you for your patience and consideration. This is an automatic message by Nikbot.--Filnik 03:55, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

central reclamation[edit]

Hello,

I'm working on a video for an exhibition of design in France about transport in cities, and I would like to use your video, which permit a good point of view on the city transport. Would you allow me to use it? And if yes, do you want me to attribute you the work, and if yes, what is your name you want me to use?

Thanks a lot for your help, and sorry for my mistakes in english...

Alice. ferre@ensad.fr

Hello,

I have written an answer to your question at My Kameraad_Pjotr's talk page Teofilo (talk) 10:58, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting information[edit]

I have seen that you deleted the information in the header of Category:Tung Chung. I usually add a short description to a category page so that the user knows something more than just a name. For example with a category of a city it is often not clear in which country that city is. So I think it is useful to add always a short description in English and the language of the country where the subject is. So for Tung Chung also in Chinese. I copy these texts from the corresponding Wikipedias. What do you think? Best regards, Wouter (talk) 11:14, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Minghong, first of all, I am impressed by the wiki entries you worked on! Thank you! Second of all, may I quote the above image to hongkongdivers.com? I just learnt to create a wiki myself and would love to learn from you. (contact@hongkongdivers.com) Hongkongdiverswiki (talk) 00:43, 29 July 2020 (UTC)hongkongdiverswiki[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
