Hi Bouchecl, thanks for your appreciation and also for your comments.

Indeed, my french is really not the best, but I'm working to make it better. Knowing about that, I asked my fellows from the german Wikipedia, to check my translations. And they have found some of the same errors like you. I will correct this errors in the next time, probably at the next weekend.

If you have some other ideas to improve the map, don't hesitate to give me a notification about that.

In the next weeks (or months) I'm going to create some more maps about the acadians, especially their history. Hopefully, we can than talk about design and contents of these maps.

Important map. it needs to extend the border of Acadia down to the Kennebec River - it makes the common mistake of not recognizing the extent that Maine was part of Acadia.--Hantsheroes (talk) 12:12, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello Hantsheroes! I think this is a misunderstanding, because this map shows the present-day settlement areas of the Acadians. But the valley of the Kennebec River is not a part of this area, and therefore no extension of this map is necessary.

A description of the historic Acadia (around the time of the mid 18th century) you can find in this map, but without the area of present-day Maine (because it was no longer the scene of major military clashes at this time). Greetings, --Mikmaq (talk) 05:18, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Wie viele Mi'kmaq-Gruppen?

Hallo, in File:Mikmaq-Stammesgebiet.png und deren Übersetzung steht "ehemaliges Siedlungsgebiet der sieben Mi'kmaq-Gruppen", aber in der Karte selber stehen acht:

1. Gespegeoag
2. Sigenigteoag
3. Pigtogeoag
4. Epegoitnag
5. Gespogoitnag
6. Segenepegatig
7. Esgigeoag
8. Onamag

Sind's denn acht Gruppen, oder gelten 2 von diesen Namen als eine Gruppe? —Angr 12:47, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Hallo Angr, es sind tatsächlich nur sieben Mi'kmaq-Gruppen. Die beiden (Unter-)Gruppen der Pigtogeoag und der Epegoitnag bilden nämlich gemeinsam eine einzige Stammesgruppe. Dabei ist es so, dass die Heimat der Pigtogeoag die PEI ist, während die Epegoitnag auf jenem festländischen Teil der Maritimes beheimatet sind, der südlich der Northumberland-Straße liegt. In der WP.de ist das im Artikel über die Mi'kmaqs auch in diesem Kapitel (im Abschnitt zu den Haupt-Reservaten) kurz erläutert. Der Hauptautor des Artikels ist zwar momentan im Urlaub, aber wenn zurückgekehrt ist, werde ich ihn noch um ein paar ergänzende Erläuterungen im Artikel bitten.

Ansonsten hat Du natürlich recht, dass meine Karte in dieser Hinsicht sehr unpräzise ist. Ich werde diese Karte (inklusive aller Sprachversionen) dann demnächst überarbeiten und das dann etwas genauer darstellen (das kann aber freilich noch eine Weile dauern).

Karte Fränkischer Reichskreis

http://www.hdbg.de/basis/pdfs/downloads/reichskreis1.pdf belegt, dass Schmalkalden entgegen Deiner Karte ebenfalls politisch zum Fränkischen Reichskreis gehörte, obwohl die Hessen ab etwa 1584 die Verwaltung ausübten. Das war in Prinzip ähnlich zu den von den Wettinern verwalteten Gebieten. Schmalkalden kam ebenfalls erst mit dem Aussterben der Henneberger unter hessische Verwaltung.

Hallo MartinTrunkenbrodt,

das mag schon so sein, dass Schmalkalden zur Anfangszeit des Fränkischen Reichskreises zu diesem gehört hatte. Wie Du aber selber schreibst, dann wohl ab etwa 1584 nicht mehr. Meine Karte beziehst sich hingegen auf das Stichjahr 1789 und das steht ja nicht nur in der Kartenlegende, sondern steckt auch noch im Dateinamen selbst. Wie auch immer, 1789 hatte Schmalkaden jedenfalls nicht mehr zum FRK gehört.

Vielleicht kannst Du Dir bei Gelegenheit auch einmal den dritten Teil des Atlanten Großer Historischer Weltatlas besorgen oder ausleihen. Auf der Seite 2 dieses Bandes findest Du dort nämlich "Die Kreiseinteilung des Reiches seit dem 16. Jh" (allerdings ohne Angabe eines Stichjahres). Und Schmalkalden liegt dort innerhalb einer kleinen weißen Enklave, wobei die Farbe weiß hier laut Legende Nicht eingekreiste Gebiete bedeutet. Grüße, --Mikmaq (talk) 20:40, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

so richtige Tipps kann ich dazu leider nur bedingt liefern, d.h. ich kann Dich eigentlich nur auf zwei bereits archivierte Diskussionen verweisen, wo ich ich die von mir verwendeten Quellen aufgeführt habe. Zum einen wäre das dieser Abschnitt über die Region Franken zum anderen dieses Kapitel in meinem Diskussionsarchiv (bitte beachte, dass beide Threads bereits archiviert wurden, also dort nicht mehr editiert werden darf).

Die meisten dort angegebenen Web-Links funktionieren übrigens jetzt nicht mehr (was nach mehr als sieben Jahren nicht verwundert), immerhin aber noch diese Karte. Diese war meine wichtigste Quelle, sie deckt freilich nur die heute bayerischen Anteile Frankens ab. Grüße, --Mikmaq (talk) 20:45, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Saletalm

Hallo Mikmaq, eine Endmoräne – verbunden mit einem Felssturz – trennt im Berchtesgadener Land den Königssee vom Obersee. Diese Landbrücke ist als Geotop 172R029 ausgewiesen. Kein Foto in Commons zeigt diese Gegebenheit so gut wie Dein File:Saletalm.jpg. Ich habe es deshalb in die Liste der Geotope im Landkreis Berchtesgadener Land aufgenommen. Hallo I. Berger, mein 2008er Bild von der Saletalm ist leider nicht so gut geworden, wie ich mir das selbst gewünscht hätte (dazu waren die Lichtverhältnisse leider nicht gut genug). Wenn es aber die topografischen Gegebenheiten so treffend darstellt, wie Du schreibst, dann hat es ja offensichtlich doch einen gewissen Wert.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hi @AntiCompositeNumber: Can't you program your "stupid bot" (to use your own words in the description of your bot) to recognize a missing character in the license information? After all, only one final curly bracket was missing in this case. In addition, I had added the license "cc-by-3.0" as redundant information in the permission field. Hello Mikmaq, the bot does not read the wikitext of the file description page, but it instead looks for the visible license templates. While Commons:Licensing does not strictly require the use of the license tag system, it is strongly encourage. Additionally, the CC-BY-3.0 license requires that we provide a link to the license with the file. When the license template is not properly transcluded, we are violating the terms of the license. As for the message, I am using the standard {{No license since}} and {{Image license}} templates because they are already widely translated. I decided it was more important to have a message that everyone could understand than a message that was more specific to the bot. If you have suggestions for how I could make these messages more clear, please let me know. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 18:17, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi AntiCompositeNumber, thanks for your quick response. However, my concern would not be to clarify the text of the messages, but to optimize the way the bot works. For example, it would be very good if the bot could recognize if the license module is completely missing or only incomplete. For example, it would be nice if the bot could detect whether the license module is completely missing or only incomplete. And it would be even nicer if the bot could also recognize if there are license specific text fragments in the current text of the license module (such as "GFDL" or "CC-BY", of course not case-sensitive). This would also make it possible to determine whether the specified license text is only corrupted and not completely missing. Depending on the result of this check, the message to be sent would then have to be designed differently. Of course, this would then involve more complex programming. But in the end it is still only the classic if-then-else program flow. Of course this would all be "nice to have", but it would be a fine improvement. --Mikmaq (talk) 21:07, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2020

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2020 findet zum zehnten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Obwohl es den Wettbewerb seit zehn Jahren gibt, sind immer noch viele Motive überall in Deutschland zu fotografieren. Neben beeindruckenden märchenhaften Schlössern, Burgen und Kirchen können auch andere Kulturdenkmale wie Brücken, Industrieruinen, Bauernhöfe oder Parks fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. In den letzten Jahren sind zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden, die sich über Fotos freuen. Es haben sich auch Kulturdenkmale verändert, sie wurden saniert oder umgestaltet. Diese Entwicklung kann auch gezeigt werden. Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. Mai bis zum 31. Mai 2021 findet zum neunten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth statt. Deutschland ist zum achten Mal dabei. Dabei können unter anderem Nationalparks, Naturschutzgebiete, Geotope und Naturdenkmäler fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, auch dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Wie du bei den Top 5 des vergangenen Jahres siehst, sind vor allem Tiere unter den Siegerbildern. Aus diesem Grund setzen wir den Fokus dieses Jahr stärker auf Landschaftsaufnahmen. Aber natürlich haben auch Tierbilder eine Chance zu gewinnen.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben Naturdenkmälern wie alten Bäumen oder Naturparks im Gebirge und am Meer können Geotope wie Findlinge, Quellen und Aufschlüsse oder FFH-Gebiete fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. Auch im vergangenen Jahr sind zahlreiche neue Listen und Artikel in diesen Bereichen entstanden, für die wir uns über Fotos freuen. Als Einstieg für die Suche nach Motiven hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du bei WLE 2021 - Deutschland und unter dieser Anleitung. Acadia 1754

Dear Mikmaq,

The Smithsonian Folkways Recordings are currently in the process of developing a new series of curriculum materials (called Smithsonian Folkways Learning Pathways) for educators (mostly music and social studies educators). These unique resources place recordings from the Smithsonian Folkways collection at the center of the learning experience. These will be FREE resources for all educators, everywhere. Each learning pathway is a curated musical journey through a historical, cultural, or musical theme (e.g. Music of the Chicano Movement; Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement; Cajun & Zydeco Music; etc...).

As part of these learning pathways, we are creating interactive student slideshows that will help teachers facilitate learning experiences in any educational environment both in-person or online. We wanted to let you know that we will be using the 'Acadia 1754' image seen on your Wikimedia Commons webpage. We are planning to use the image for our 'Cajun and Zydeco' learning pathway. thank you for your nice message, if the use of the map is under the conditions mentioned, then everything is fine (the user account Mikmaq is no longer active, so I'll reply here instead).

By the way, it would not have been necessary to communicate the use of the map, but I found your message very nice. And that's why I've now uploaded another map that was created a long time ago. The map "Acadians 1754.svg" shows the settlement areas of the Acadians in the year 1754 and can also be used for your project. Because the map was created in SVG format, it can be printed in a finer representation, if that should be necessary. You can also use the same map without a legend.

Im Herzen Deutschlands in Thüringen und in Niedersachsen sind neue Denkmallisten entstanden, die auf Fotos warten. Übrigens in der Hauptstadt Thüringens in Erfurt findet dieses Jahr die WikiCon vom 1. bis 3. Oktober statt. Dies könnte man mit einem Foto-Kurzurlaub vor der WikiCon in Thüringen verbinden …

Vor dem Hintergrund der Flutkatastrophe 2021 haben wir auch drei Sonderpreise ausgelobt. Damit sollen Fotos prämiert werden, die Kulturdenkmale zeigen, die zerstört wurden. Das Foto kann das Objekt vor oder nach der Zerstörung zeigen.

Hallo @Z thomas:

schönen Dank für Deine umfassenden Informationen zum Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments. Dieser ist zwar international ausgerichtet, wie Du schreibst. Doch wie die von Dir verlinkte WLM-Übersichtsseite ebenso zeigt, ist die deutschsprachige Ausprägung des WLM-Wettbewerbes ganz fest in der WP.de verankert. Doch mit dieser möchte ich nichts mehr zu tun haben, da ich meine Mitarbeit in der WP.de beendet habe, was auf meiner dortigen Benutzer-Seite auch unmißverständlich nachzulesen ist.

Ungeachtet dessen hatte ich zumindest vorgehabt, zumindest einige vor längerer Zeit erstellten Karten und vielleicht auch noch das eine oder andere Denkmal-Bild auf Commons hochzuladen. Doch wie wenig meine ohnhehin nur noch marginalen Bilder-Uploads gewürdigt werden, das zeigt ganz exemplarisch die Löschung der Kategorie Kucha 18 (Offenhausen). Hallo Mikmaq, schön wieder von dir zu hören. ich find's schade, dass du nicht mehr in der de.wp mitmachst.

Der Wettbewerb ist bei commons angesiedelt und im prinzip läuft dort der upload über die entsprechenden kampagnen usw. In der WP läuft die kommunikation, weil das etwas einfacher ist. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn du Bilder hochlädst, aber ich will dich natürlich nicht unter druck setzen :-)

ich glaube, dass das mit der Cat-Löschung ein missverständnis war. Dein Foto ist ja auf jeden Fall vorhanden und ist für die Dokumentation wertvoll.
