Extracting images from Internet Archive texts[edit]

You're doing some great work uploading images from old B&O magazines! It looks like you're extracting images from the PDF, which unfortunately introduces compression artifacts that tend to blur the image. I've previously found a method to extract less-blurred images:

  • When viewing the page in the online book viewer, right-click on the page and select "Open image in new tab" (Chrome) or "View image" (Firefox)
  • In the URL of the image, scroll all the way to the right. You'll find "&scale=" followed by a number, followed by "&rotate=0"
  • Change the number to "0" so that it reads "&scale=0&rotate=0" (you can also choose to rotate by 90/180/270), and hit enter
  • This will produce the full-size page image, typically 2000-6000 pixels wide

I've uploaded an example here using this method. Feel free to ask if you have questions! Cheers, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:30, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
