Instrument ranges question[edit]

Hello, and thanks for uploading the pictures of instrument ranges! I have a question: why are there four notes for the wind instruments? Are the middle two notes the ones that can be played "comfortably", and the outside two notes harmonics? Thanks for the information! --bdesham 23:43, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The normally sized middle two notes show the ususal range that should work in any case. The possibility to play the (outside) little notes usually depends on the kind/quality/type of the instruments and/or players. I designed these graphics mainly to use them in articles about musical instruments, where the range (and so the meaning of the little notes) should be explained separately in the text, too. GFDL[edit]

Kuck dir einfach an, was dort ergänzt worden ist! Bitte immer alles angeben, was geht. --Jon 4 July 2005 14:56 (UTC)

Bassoon pictures[edit]

Hello to another bassoonist! I have some photos (taken by User:Gmaxwell, Image:FoxBassoon.jpg and Image:Bassoon-reeds2.jpg) of a bassoon and reeds to replace the ones on English Wikipedia which had no license information. I went to see if other languages' projects had the same photos on them and saw your images. (Nice work on the Fagott article—I wish I knew German well enough to translate it to English! Your reeds look much better than mine, too...) I don't want to just replace your work now that I've seen it on de:, so I thought I would let you choose whether you'd like to or not. Happy playing, Mindspillage 06:39, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Needing help for instrument range[edit]

I see that you are the one who usually takes care of the instrument range images. I'm currently working on the English-language alto clarinet article; I know the ranges for the instrument but have no clue how to make images of your caliber. Is there any chance you might be able to help me? The written range is from E-flat 3 (optional, otherwise E natural 3) to G natural 6, making its sounding range from G natural 2 to B-flat 5. I understand if you are not able to help me out; thank you for your time and effort. MToolen

Of course i can do it, just give me a few days... --mezzofortist 10:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I'm in a similar boat as MToolen, above. I'm working on improving the handbell article, and I think it would be greatly improved by one of your snazzy range images! Would you mind working one up? The range is C2 to C9 (big, I know). If you can help, I'd appreciate it! Godofbiscuits 20:35, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Range for the virginals[edit]

Hi, are you able to help create an image for the musical range of the virginals? I'm a reviewer; the primary editor of the article is Nick Michael, so if you have any questions they should be directed to him. Thanks in advance. — Cheers, JackLee talk 14:47, 30 May 2008 (UTC), updated 20:51, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
