Advice for me regarding Kamehameha?
I thought a bit about the orientation on that photo that was promoted. I shot it off center and the background was distracting. I shot it totally lined up with the columns in the background, and it looked geometric- like Kamehameha on a grid. When it was a little off, I evaded both problems, but I could not say I was real happy about it. How would you solve this composition problem? I can shoot this tons more times till I get it right since I am frequently downtown. If you have any advice/ thoughts, I'd like to learn. Thanks. -00:09, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- I like the promoted one, although there are some things you could do better.
- -You used 90 mm and 1/30, so that the camera moved slightly during the exposure. So you have little halos around the borders, look at the fingers for instance.
- To solve this problem you can use a tripod or have a try with a shorter time even if the building will be not in DOF.
- -Another try could be to take a picture in the sunlight, where you should try different exposure times, perhaps not against the light, because that is hard to manage for our digital cameras. Sometimes it helps to take a picture to dark so that you get no blown-out-lights and to lighten it up on the computer. If you like I could try to help you when you try that solution.
- I would like to have some of your sunlight-problems, its often raining in Dortmund....

- Thanks. I will try things things. Regarding weather, I apologize for complaining about sun to you, and actually I very much miss the seasons. I spent most of my life in Seattle where it always rained.
