Featured pics[edit]

Stop your actions immediately. You don't have the right to declare a picture featured. First there has to be a nomination and then the community decides and only if they agree a picture will get featured. Read the guideline how to do a nomination. And by the way, none of the Javor-pictures will ever be a featured picture, their resolution is much to bad. -- Cecil 12:21, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, now you have some time to read the guideline at Commons:Featured picture candidates. But in short: First, the pictures have to be really good. Pictures with a low resolution never have a chance to get featured. Minimum resolution is 2 million pixels (e.g. 1600 x 1200 = 1.92 million).

  • First step to nominate a picture: you create a nomination. In this file you write the name of the file and some information about it and why you think that it is good. See an example here.
  • Second step: you add the nomination file to the candiates here: Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list.
  • Third step: you wait some days: the users of this community will check the nomination and the picture. If they like the picture they will support your nomination, if not, they will oppose.
  • Fourth step: 10 (!!!) days later an independent user (somebody who did neither nomination nor participating in the vote) will count the result. When there are at list 5 supports and a two-thirds majority then the picture will get features-status. In that case the independent user will go to the image and add the {{FeaturedPicture}}-Tag to it's description.

Remember the last step. It will not be done by the nominator. You as the nominator have no right to add the FeaturesPic-Tag to the picture. And since you didn't stop doing that you have now time to read the details of the guide and look how the process works. You can reach me by email, if you have further questions, but be warned: if you just sends harassment your block of 3 days will be extended and I will switch of your possibility to write emails to the users here. -- Cecil 12:44, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, if you apologize at Ejdzej and declare that you now understand the steps of nomination and will not again make pictures featured without a nomination, then I will unblock you earlier. The apology is therefore mandatory. -- Cecil 12:49, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
