Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Thank you. --Siebrand 18:49, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

alte Bilder[edit]

Hallo Manfred! PD-art.

FP nomination[edit]

Hi,you may be interested to know that I nominated your picture Castle_Plessis_Bourre_2007_02.jpg for featured picture here. Your castle images are very nice, though sometimes too small to be eligible for FP or QI. Regards. Lycaon 20:32, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Lycaon! I just uploaded a larger file. --Manfred Heyde 21:53, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. I'm sorry you feel this way, I if you wish, I can withdraw the nomination. It would be a pity, because you make really nice shots. Lycaon 08:58, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lycaon! Your denoising was really successful. What a software did you use? You surely know the difficulties, efforts and costs making good photos on vacation in a foreign country. The photos I uploaded are the best and the only I could make of the respective objects, and most of them are used in context with the articles I wrote (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Goldi64). So, in my opinion it's no use to have them discussed and it would be very kind of you to withdraw the nomination. Kind regards, --Manfred Heyde 09:31, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Manfred Heyde!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you. BotMultichill (talk) 12:52, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seashells[edit]

Hi Manfred, I like your image:

I want to use this image on the English Wikipedia, in the article Seashell. Can I ask you, where did you find these shells? Were they all from the same beach, or the same general area? And where was that? Thanks so much. I am on the English Wikipedia as User:Inverzoo. Thanks so much, 24.215.213.252 20:42, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Invertzoo! Most of the shells in the photo are from North-Wales. I have got a photo of the original colledtion from 1985, which I could upload in addition if you are interested. At the time we found around 25 (of over 200) different kinds of shells at a coastel spot called Shell-Island, south of Harlech Castel. Kind Regards (You will find me in the German WP as user Goldi64).--79.211.211.2 (talk) 23:12, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manfred, Thanks so much for the info. I would be very interested in seeing your photo of the original collection you picked up on Shell Island near Harlech Castle. I tried to find you on the German Wikipedia but my German is not up to the task! Sorry. Thanks again, Invertzoo (talk) 23:49, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just uploaded that seashell-photo. Kind regards,--Manfred Heyde (talk) 10:07, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! Thank you very much, that is really excellent! I put it into the English Wikipedia "Seashell" article [2] and in the "Shell Island" article [3]. Can you tell me when you were there? At any rate what year you were there, and maybe what month? And do you have any other images you took of that group of shells? Many thanks, User:Invertzoo 69.22.233.207 18:42, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it is the only photo I took at the time. But possibly I still have all those shells in my pocession. So I could rearange that group or take digital photos, bigger and in a better quality than that scan of an old slide if you want me to. We were on vacation in North-Wales in march/april 1985. Regards, --Manfred Heyde (talk) 23:52, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Manfred, Thanks so much for the new information. You do have several shells of genera and species there that we need images of. (It is quite a nice selection of species!) I don't know how much work you feel like doing, but if you can actually lay your hands on that collection of shells from 1985, I could try to tell you which shells are the ones that English Wikipedia needs images of. (I also would like to see the whole collection from that locality, even the ones that are cut off in that original slide.) You must have had a nice time there... best to you, User:Invertzoo 69.22.233.207 19:13, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Here you can see the items I still have in my pocession. Tell me the ones you like to have a single photo of, I will take them. Regards,--Manfred Heyde (talk) 10:10, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I just finished taking photos of all single items! You will find them in the caterory of "Seashells", and because of the different categories of "Gastropoda" I added the following gallerie:

Regards, --Manfred Heyde (talk) 12:15, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow Manfred, you did very well! The shells are a bit beachworn, but your photos are excellent! I think I can use most of them or maybe all of them. Thank you so very much for taking all the pictures and uploading them. Does the gallery contain all of the images? Or are there any others of them elsewhere? Best to you, User:Invertzoo from English Wikipedia. 24.215.213.66 16:38, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, today I have been placing a few of your images in articles and creating some new stub articles. I wanted to let you know that the shell in the image "Urosalpinx cinerea Austernbohrer.jpg" is in fact a shell of Ocenebra erinacea. Maybe you want to change the title of the file? Best to you, 24.215.213.66 21:48, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey again Manfred. Another change in the ID: File:Polinices pulchellus Glänzende Nabelschnecke.jpg is in fact Euspira catena. I do not know how to change the title of an image file, that is why I am asking you to do that. Many thanks for the great images. Best wishes to you, User:Invertzoo, 24.215.213.66 15:14, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your image of the view from Shell Island (including Harlech Castle) is really great! User:Invertzoo, 24.215.213.18 22:12, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aequipecten opercularis and some other images[edit]

In your image, only the shell on the left is truly this species.

Do you think perhaps you could crop the image in order to show only the shell on the left?

I am slowly going through your bivalve images from Wales, and placing them in articles. In some cases I will have to ask you to change the name of the image file, because the identification is not quite right.

Thanks for all your hard work and very best wishes from Invertzoo... also: ..........................................................................................................................................

File:Mya arenaria Sandklaffmuschel.jpg This is not Mya arenaria. I am not sure what species this is. It even looks as if it might possibly be a freshwater river mussel.

File:Aequipecten opercularis Pilgermuschel.jpg The one on the left is correctly identified, whereas the one on the right is a juvenile lower valve of Pecten maximus.

About the three images of “Venus verrucosa”. I think maybe File:Venus verrucosa Venusmuschel 03.jpg is correctly identified as this species. However, File:Venus verrucosa Venusmuschel 02.jpg and File:Venus verrucosa Venusmuschel 01.jpg are not this species. I am pretty sure that File:Venus verrucosa Venusmuschel 02.jpg is Chamelea gallina. The other image may be very worn valves of that species also, I am not sure.

So once again Happy New Year, from User Invertzoo. 69.22.234.69 21:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

....................................................................................................................................

And I believe that File:Venerupis pullastra Teppichmuschel.jpg is actually Venerupsis decussata. Best, Invertzoo 69.22.234.69 00:59, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Manfred Heyde!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

"Rissoid" image[edit]

Hi Manfred, the image that claims to be a rissoid is not actually a rissoid, it is the shell of a pulmonate land snail, I am not sure which species though. Can you tell me how large it is in mm? You may want to change the title of the image. Best, from User:Invertzoo on English Wikipedia. 24.215.213.56 14:19, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Manfred, das File:Mehun 05 2009.jpg dürfte gegen Copyright verstoßen; leider kein COM:FOP in Frankreich. --Túrelio (talk) 16:35, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Danke für die Info! Für mich zu kompliziert! Gruß,--Manfred Heyde (talk) 17:02, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Grüße,--Manfred Heyde (talk) 17:43, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if we could use your picture for a magazine about medieval warfare, for an issue regarding mercenaries in the medieval world? We mention your name in the authors credit. I look forward hearing from you.

Hi there,

as one can see from the details going with the photo, this is my own work taken in Cornwall/UK. Isn't this enough?

Using one of your pictures in a textbook[edit]

I am thinking of using your Altes Museum dome picture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Altes_Museum_Rotunde_03_2002.jpg) in a textbook. It would show at about 6 cm high and be credited in the legend immediately below. Since this is printed text, and I can't hyperlink to your page, I was wondering if you would like any other information to appear in the credits, other than your name (such as city, any URL, whatever). Just in case, I can be contacted at thechabon a a tt hot mail do ot com. Thank you very much for sharing that picture. [I thought I had written to you about this some time ago --maybe I intended to and didn't, or maybe I did and lost all record. Sorry if I messed something up and this is a repeat message.] Iiiiaaaa (talk) 01:31, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wonderful photos[edit]

I wanted to congratulate and thank you for the many wonderful photos you have contributed to Commons. Your landscape photos in the Alps are particularly stunning!

I also want to bring to your attention some templates you might find useful when uploading and editing your images. First, Photo provides fields specific to photographs. Art Photo is a combination of the Artwork and Photo templates that allows you to credit the photo to the photographer as well as the separate info about the underlying artwork. Also, Langswitch shows only the user's language, rather than all of the translations. I hope you find these suggestions helpful. I only just discovered the Art Photo template myself the other day, and was barely aware of the Photo template. Laura1822 (talk) 21:22, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
