Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Dear Magalia,
The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).
- In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
- In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)
We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:
- 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
- In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
- In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

Zdjęcia[edit]
Witaj Magalio - tak to prawda, że taką podjęłam decyzję i że istnieje jej powód. Dotyczy to wyłącznie zdjęć związanych z konkursem Wiki Wakacje. Chciałam wycofać swoje wszystkie prace konkursowe, ale żaden z organizatorów podających kontakt do siebie na stronie projektu nawet nie raczył odpowiedzieć na przesłane do obu z nich informacje.
To bardzo miłe co napisałaś o moich zdjęciach i o ile to istotnie jest prawda, to mnie cieszy ... gdyby nie zaistniała sytuacja, która miała miejsce, to zapewne przesłałabym dużo więcej zdjęć na konkurs, tym samym zwiększając zasoby Commons. Ale co było, to było ... dziś nie ma większego znaczenia.
Twoja opinia i dzielna postawa wczorajsza administratora blokującego mój komputer cieszą mnie, w zestawieniu z innymi opiniami mówiącymi o szkodliwości moich prac dla encyklopedii. Ale to nie ważne, nie chcę rozwijać tematu i nie mam zamiaru już więcej się skarżyć. Nie lubię użalać się nad sobą, a przy podniesionym poziomie emocji wolę nie używać słów, uważanych powszechnie za mało parlamentarne. W każdym razie ja rozróżniam życzliwość od ... no nie przepraszam, żadna z nas nie zasłużyła na ciąg dalszy.
Natomiast na pewno chcę w całości wycofać swoje prace z konkursu Wiki Wakacje i nie życzę sobie by były w ramach tego konkursu przez kogokolwiek jeszcze oceniane, bo już zawczasu ocenione zostały i tę ocenę poznałam, zanim przyszedł czas ogłoszenia wyników konkursu. Dla mnie wszelkie konkursy w Polskiej Wikipedii przestały istnieć. I nie chcę tego tematu również rozwijać. Tak czy inaczej po ostatnich doświadczeniach nie przyjęłabym na pewno jakiejkolwiek nagrody konkursowej. Przecież nie można przyznawać nagród za prace złej jakości, zaniżające poziom a do tego "pełne artefaktów w strukturze pikseli" - przepraszam, ale trochę już kpię z tego, bowiem emocje nieco opadły.
Projekt Wikipedii jest międzynarodowy i jako taki wydaje mi się wartościowym dziełem ludzi całego świata, którzy chcą się dzielić z innymi swoją pracą, wiedzą i umiejętnościami. Ja już mam wcześniejsze doświadczenia konkursowe w Wikipedia Polska i każde z nich dla mnie było na swój sposób mocne, z wyjątkiem może pierwszego gdy zdjęcia robiłam telefonem i z perspektywy czasu trochę się ich wstydzę, ale zostały zauważone i chociaż nie otrzymałam wówczas nagrody, bo szczerze mówiąc nie było za bardzo czego nagradzać, to miałam dobre recenzje, a w wielu wypowiedziach czułam życzliwość i sympatię. Byłam wówczas dość poważnie chora i te wszystkie miłe reakcje jak i sam udział w konkursie dzięki któremu odkryłam Commons, potraktowałam jak skuteczną terapię w wychodzeniu ze zdrowotnych kłopotów. Za to należy się wielkie dzięki Wikimedia Commons, a w szczególności kilku sympatycznym ludziom, których wówczas wirtualnie poznałam. Potem po kolejnych edycjach konkursów widziałam bardzo lekceważący wzrok niektórych ludzi, także z zarządu fundacji i to już nie było tak miłe.
Dlaczego zdecydowałam się wziąć udział w tegorocznej edycji konkursu? ... może chciałam sprawdzić czy coś się zmieniło na lepsze? ... może chciałam sprawdzić siebie? ... może chciałam wygrać nagrodę za jakieś zdjęcie warte uwagi? ... dziś wiem, że był to mój błąd ... mam nadzieję więcej podobnych nie popełnić.
Mam 64 lata, jestem na emeryturze, z wykształcenia jestem inżynierem. Wiele doświadczyłam w życiu, wydaje mi się że w miarę jestem tolerancyjna i że umiem dogadywać się z młodymi, bo mam wśród nich wielu przyjaciół z którymi chodzę po górach czy pływam kajakiem ... są jednak zachowania, których nie cierpię i niestety nie toleruję.
Natalio ... dziękuję na Twoją miłą reakcję. Ale nie przyjmuj proszę na siebie roli negocjatorki w sprawie Wikiwakacji. Ja już decyzję podjęłam i nie zamierzam jej zmienić. Zresztą nie wiem, może jesteś związana z projektem Wikiwakacje? Moje prace mogą zostać w repetytorium, jeśli są cokolwiek warte dla kogokolwiek, ale byłabym wdzięczna za to, że znajdzie się ktoś z uprawnionych do tego osób by usunąć automatem, wszystkie powiązania moich plików z konkursem WikiWakacje - przesyłanie ich zaczęłam 16 lipca 2016 r., z wyjątkiem może linku na mój osobisty katalog.
Ja nie umiem stworzyć niestety sama stosownego automatu, który by to zrobić, a ręcznie jest to praca na ponad 1800 plikach i nie chce mi się teraz tego robić.
Gdyby wczoraj administrator nie zablokował mnie, to dzisiaj już żadnego mojego pliku by nie było w Commons i problem by nie istniał. Skoro ktoś je ratował, to być może mają jakąś wartość merytoryczną, jeśli nie artystyczną.
Dziękuję także za Twoją opinię, to może też dowód na to, że nie wszystkie moje pliki są kiepskiej jakości, nieencyklopedyczne i kwalifikują się na śmietnik. Dzisiaj mam nieco spokojniejszą głowę. Jeżeli żadnego z organizatorów konkursu nie stać było na stosowną reakcję, od trzech dni, to trudno. Postaram się w przyszłości więcej nikomu w Wikimedia Polska nie wchodzić na odciski i nie denerwować swoją obecnością tu czy tam. Bo miłe to nie jest. Dla mnie również.
Dziękuję Ci Natalio za miłe słowa, przepraszam za całą "aferę" którą wywołałam i serdecznie pozdrawiam - miłego weekendu :)

Witaj
zachowałabym się dość prymitywnie i małostkowo, reagując wycofaniem się z konkursu po jednym krytycznym zdaniu. Widzę, że w pewien sposób oczekujesz szerszych wyjaśnień, więc dobrze ... otrzymasz je choć nie chciałam do tego wracać.
Ja przez 4 dni po kolei z uporem maniaka, byłam przez kogoś podającego się za członka komisji konkursowej przekonywana, że moje zdjęcia są kiepskiej jakości i jeśli chcę mieć wynik w postaci wartościowych fotografii kwalifikujących się do wyróżnienia, bowiem nagród w tym roku za ilość nie ma, to powinnam je po prostu przygotować w sposób w jaki on mi zasugeruje.
Ponieważ prosiłam go uprzejmie by dał mi święty spokój i że jego zachowanie nie jest w porządku nie tylko wobec mnie, ale w stosunku do zasad i regulaminów konkursu i ja sobie nie życzę dalszych podobnych uwag, on jednak nie zamierzał zaprzestać swoich uwag. W końcu prosiłam by zakończył dalsze kontakty ze mną w sprawie konkursu, bo jeśli tego nie zrobi, to po prostu wycofam swoje prace z konkursu i z zasobów wiki.
Kolejnego niestety dnia dostałam znów wiadomość, twierdzącą, że reaguję na jego ŻYCZLIWE UWAGI zbyt nerwowo i tutaj niestety nie wytrzymałam, zakończyłam z nim znajomość - usunęłam go z FB, z Skypa i z innych miejsc potencjalnych kontaktów, jednocześnie występując do organizatorów konkursu z prośbą o usunięcie moich prac moich z konkursu i z zasobów wiki.
"Agitacja" tej osoby miała miejsce w dniach 22 - 25 sierpnia 2016 r. Niestety miałam już kiedyś z tą osobą doświadczenia, w innym konkursie gdy poza strukturami kontaktów Wiki "krytykował" inną osobę, która dostarczała więcej i lepszych zdjęć niż on.
Proszę mi wybaczyć, ale naprawdę nie mam zamiaru "mierzyć" się już z oceną swoich pracy w konkursie, konkurs ten skończył się dla mnie kilka dni temu. Teraz gdybym nawet miała otrzymać nagrodę pozostał by we mnie niesmak, że otrzymałam ją z powodu "awantury" a nie rzeczywistej wartości swojej pracy i dlatego podtrzymuję swoją prośbę o usunięcie ze wszystkich moich plików konkursowych wszelkich konotacji z nim związanych, z wyjątkiem mojego osobistego katalogu.
Jeżeli moja decyzja nie jest zrozumiała to bardzo mi przykro, ale w mojej ocenie po prostu nie może być inna. Dziękuję za ponowny kontakt i miłe słowa --Jolanta Dyr (talk) 16:15, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
