w:Hynobius has "Asian salamander" as an English vernacular name for the genus; https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/738159-Hynobius-fossigenus has "Japanese Rift Salamander" for this species, accompanied by this photo! -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:37, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
