Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]][[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Dudas sobre permisos[edit]
Hola, tengo unas imágenes que toman como base fotogramas de una película, concretamente de "Cielo sobre Berlín". No sé si podré subirlas, en la ley de propiedad intelectual habla de que las paródias no son consideradas obras derivadas, pero no habla de, lo que serían estas imagenes, posibles homenajes, por eso pido tu consejo. OTRS de soccer.ru[edit]
Hola Lucien, contacto contigo porque veo que eres voluntario en OTRS, y me ha surgido una duda respecto de un permiso. Resulta que me he encontrado con una imagen de de Pep Guardiola que remite a este permiso. Contento por el hallazgo, he comenzado a subir algunas imágenes de esa misma galería, al igual que he visto que el usuario que alojó la fotografía (ruso al parecer) ha subido gran cantidad de imágenes desde esa misma fuente, soccer.ru. Sin embargo, veo que La página web en cuestión está en ruso, y no consigo encontrar o descifrar algún aviso de uso del material. El sitio contiene gran cantidad de imágenes de calidad profesional, y antes de continuar utilizándola como fuente, querría asegurarme que no estoy en un error, así como conocer en lo posible el alcance del permiso ¿Serias tan amable de comprobarlo? He supuesto que los contenidos a los que afecta la licencia son los que hay en estas galerías, que son los que parecen de la autoría de soccer.ru, pues por ejemplo en las noticias incluyen usualmente fotos cuya fuente son otros medios (como As o Marca). He subido unas cuantas imágenes más, y consultaré la página de vez en cuando. Un saludo. Lobo

- Hi Lucien. Mark Holloway posted an image by Mark Sullivan but there is no evidence the original author intended for the picture to be released freely. Looks like Holloway just added pics to his stream as a tribute but the whole stream is licensed under cc-by, including a commercial, content taken from other websites and a newspaper cartoon. - No problem, I was not accusing you of anything. I wrote an email to the flickr user to fix the licenses on his account. As for the image of Ricardo Montablan - he is a photographer for WireImage (see http://omg.yahoo.com/photos/fond-farewell-stars-we-lost-in-09/3385) and I don't think there is a chance he would a release an image under a free license, since he makes money with his images. Logos transportes públicos colectivos[edit]
Tengo una duda sobre la aplicación de los derechos de autor sobre imágenes de medios de transporte colectivo ¿Por qué a mí me borráis los logos que subí del trolebús de Castellón y sin embargo no se borrado los logos de las mismas características de Adif, Renfe, FGC, FGV, Metrovalencia, Metro de Barcelona, Metro Madrid, Metro Málaga, Metro Sevilla, EuskoTran, Metro de Bilbao, tranvía de Zaragoza, etc.? ¿Por qué? Sabéis perfectamente que no os van a reclamar ningún derecho de autor del logo de una empresa pública de transporte y aún así lo queréis borrar el logo para que el artículo quede incompleto, el único de todos los de esta temática. Hay que ser un poco consecuente aplicando las normas y si si aplica en un caso, se aplican en todos, y si no se aplica en uno, en ninguno, aquí resulta que en el 99% de los casos no se aplica, pero parece que aquí alguien le tiene rabia al dichoso logotipo. Me gustaría saber el porqué, sin alusiones a complejidad ni sinsentidos como esos, porque no es precisamente un dibujo complejo, y más comparando con otros que hay por aquí. Gracias. No creo que ningún logotipo de los medio de transporte público deban borrarse ya estos derechos no se reclaman, sus logotipos se ofrecen al público para fomentar su uso, no van denunciando a los que cuelgan logotipos en la Wikipedia para ilustrar sus artículos. No me imagino un artículo del metro de Longres sin su logotipo... Aquí tienes el archivo del logotipo del metro londinense[3], denúncialo para que también lo borren. Le estás haciendo un flaco favor a los que contribuimos en la Wikipedia y Wikimedia Commons, los que seguimos las normas, porque las imágenes siguen las normas, las mismas que siguen muchas otras.

Problemas con OTRS[edit]
Estimado Lucien leGrey, hace ya un tiempo seguí el procedimiento para solicitar que marcasen como derechos cedidos unas fotos que ha dejado bajo commons el Museo de Altamira. Realmente fue algo muy importante ya que no había fotos de calidad para el artículo de es:Cueva de Altamira y después de casi dos meses de convalecencia me reincorporo y encuentro que han marcado las fotos para su borrado. Respectfully, I have to contact a Wikipedia administrator, because I noticed a bullying on Wikipedia ES. The pages involve are in Spanish, but I'm adding translations Link. Here was what I wrote to the user in his English Common page (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Taichi), he blocked me Spanish page and I couldn't talk in his Spanish page because he put in place restrictions such as blocking me or requesting more than 50 edits to edit in his page. Important message for file movers[edit]
A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning.
