User talk:Lucero del Alba~commonswiki
Hello Lucero!
I saw that you uploaded a lot of great photographs from the archives of the Marine Sanctuary, tagging them as Public Domain. Unfortunatly they are not (see http://www.sanctuaries.nos.noaa.gov/pgallery/pgallery.html#hints). If you do have special permission from the respective photographers, please state so, otherwise those images will have to be deleted. They are beautifull photographs, but they may not comply with the commons licence policy. (see also: Commons:Village pump) Regards -- Peter_Aut 07:30, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)
In answer to your message on my discussion site:
There are still many photos which are explicitly marked as a work of the National Marine Sanctuary ( eg: http://www.sanctuaries.nos.noaa.gov/pgallery/pgchannel/living/living_1.html ), so we can use those images for sure, they do are public domain.
- I agree with you concerning those images, no problem with those.
«Individuals and educational users (i.e. students, teachers, individual researchers) may download and use the images in the gallery, as long as any source information found on an image is not removed.», says another statement at the Photo Gallery info webpage. I would say Wikipedia would probably classify as a "education user" since we provide information for educational purposes, but maybe we do not classify that way...
- The problem here is that Commons has a licence policy different from the en.wikipedia. Commons only accepts images that are free even for commercial use. This is not the case with those. So it does not really matter if we qualify as educational user.
However, I'll stop uploading new pictures and will contact Michael Murphy by email to clarify the use of the imagery found on the NMS website and will ask for a special permission, in case we need it. In that case I will remark the copyright of all of the not-NOAA images as "permitted" or something similar, alright?
- That's a very good idea.
Just give me a few days until I do this and please do not delete the images while so, 'couse we are on Christmas' eve and it may take me a few days until I finally reach Mr. Murphy.
- All right, I will post a message stating this at the Village Pump.
Regards and happy Holidays Peter_Aut 11:52, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Image:UNESCO-logo.png[edit]
Hi, Lucero.
As [you said]: "It is based upon en:Image:Unesco.png, which wasn't exported correctly". Would you mind to explain what was wrong with this image? I just would like to avoid same mistake in the future. Thanks.
P.S. I do not check my commons very often, so I invite you to my RU talk page (or meta).

Untagged images[edit]
Hi - several of the images you uploaded are listed on Commons:Untagged_images#L, because they have no license info. Please add the appropriate Commons:Copyright tags to the images description pages, as images without license info will have to be deleted. Please also add the author, source and date of creation if applicable. Thanks! -- Duesentrieb 13:10, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Giantkelp1_300.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Giantkelp1_300.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. le Korrigan →bla 10:15, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Pay attention to copyright | Image:Kelpforest 300.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. The Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content, that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added will soon be deleted. If you believe this image is not a copyright violation, please explain why on the image description page.

Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Lucero del Alba. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Lucero del Alba~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
