danish writer on Tibet, China and the rest of us....[edit]

Hello

I am looking for photos for my tibet-book, I am soon finished, and this is a totally non-commerciel project, Denmark betrayed Tibes in 2009 with a shamefull "Verbalnote" to China, where "we" opposes the independcy of Tibet (this has its sarcastic chapter in my book.) I have studied Tibets History for a couple of years, and also been writing with seceral chonickles for danish newspappers Its is not easy for me to fully understand the conditions for using you photos, anyway: This is a goog cause!

request to use your photo[edit]

Dear Luca Galuzzi,

I am the editor of a tiny weekly newspaper (circulation under 5,000) in upstate New York: The altamont Enterprise & Albany County Post.

Your picture, "Leaving traces on soft sand dunes in Tadrart Acacus, a desert area in western Libya, part of the Sahara," which I found on wikipedia, would be perfect to illustrate a column we are printing next week on the value of solitude.

The column quotes from Paul Bowles's “Baptism of Solitude,” in which Bowles says that, whether a person has gone into the Sahara once or 10 times, the first thing that commands his attention is the “stillness.” In that “hard stony place ... an incredible, absolute silence prevails.” Even in the busy marketplaces, he says, “a conscious force [exists] which [resents] the intrusion of sound.” The underlying silence is so great that noise is minimized and eventually dispersed. Even the sky at night joins in; it “never really grows dark” but remains “an intense and burning blue” as if silence will not let the pilgrim go.

I can send you an online link to the pice once it is published with your picture.

Thank you, in advance for taking such a beautiful picture and for allowing us to use it.

Greetings! Using your 2007 Alaska Pipeline image[edit]

I will provide the attribution you requested. This is going with a story for public information channels at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The story is on an accelerated corrosion test apparatus developed by a mechanical engineer at UAA that will allow testing of solutions or inhibitors of external pipeline corrosion. Rather than test on the live pipe, they can test on this simulator tool, everything from how climate impacts the weld packs, to whether adding inhibitors will slow down external corrosion. I wanted to use it to emphasize the size of the pipeline and the size of the monitoring task they have. Thank you! Much appreciation. Sahara Desert picture for an online course on tropical soils[edit]

Dear Mr. Galuzzi,

In 2015, you were so kind to lend us your picture on "Leaving traces on soft sand dunes in Tadrart Acacus a desert area in western Libya, part of the Sahara" for an exhibition on Soils of Africa in Leuven. I am now happy to report that the material of the exhibition was developed into a free online course on tropical soils on the EdX platform, and that we used your picture (with reference to your name and website) in that course as well. https://www.edx.org/course/as-above-so-below-soils-ecosystems-and-livelihoods-in-the-tropics Many thanks!!
