All your images have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them. |
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:56, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Dutch copyright law
[edit]Dear Leuk2, Dutch copyright law can be found here (duration of copyright: see art. 37). In short: work of authors, painters (etc.) in the Netherlands is free from 70 years after the year of their death. Vysotsky (talk) 00:03, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

Removing categories
[edit]Dear Leuk2, Removing categories from a file doesn't help: it will only give other people more work to do. If you remove all categories, a bot will place a tag ("file without categories" -see Media needing categories), a human person will add categories and we will be at the start of the process once again -with many people doing useless work. I added a "superseded" tag, which is sufficient. 13:28, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
- Alternative: "Upload a new version of this file" (See: File History). Preferably only with files you uploaded yourself. Vysotsky (talk) 14:06, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
- Dear Leuk2, Please don't remove categories (for reasons mentioned above), like with this file (right). Either upload a new version of a file, or nominate for deletion. If not, someone will re-add the categories. Vysotsky (talk) 20:24, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
