Hi - thanks for contributing to the commons. When copying images from a wikipedia, please remember a few things:

  • Please always copy the full resolution image. The display on the description page is often scaled, ther's a link below the image to the full version.
  • Please copy all information provided in the wikipedia, including who uploaded the image and when. Always name the author, even if the license does not require this (the GFDL does require this).
  • Keep in mind that images are often deleted after they have been copied to the commons. This way, information may be lost if is is copied incompletely.
  • Please always put images into categories and/or on a gallery page. Images that can not be found by others are essentially useless.

For more info on how a image description page should look, see Commons:Criteria for inclusion. You may also want to read Commons:Licensing and have a look at the Commons:Community Portal. If you have questions, please ask at the Commons:Village pump. Thanks! -- Duesentrieb 23:08, 17 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Original title[edit]

When you copy an image from Wikipedia, please indicate what the original title was. See Image:Anacardium occidentale.jpg for an example of how to do this. If you can find it again, please indicate where you got Image:Anacardium occidentale1.jpg. Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 00:39, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I did what you asked me to do. Is it good now? But tell me why should I state the name of the original picture. I thought that it is enough if I tell copyrights and everything that has to do with that information. --Lemmikkipuu 01:05, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thank you! It simply allows others who see the photo here to check your work. By the way, you can sign your name by typing ~~~~. dbenbenn | talk 03:31, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Always copy full information[edit]

Hello, please see this edit to learn what you have to copy when uploading images by other users. Thanks --Überraschungsbilder 21:06, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moro! Voisitko ottaa uuden kuvan? Tämä on huono, tämä on liian epäselvä. Kiitos. Miraceti (talk) 16:07, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
