Lard Buurman[edit]

  • partendo con cache locale vuota e visualizzando la categoria come anonimo erano indicati 70 elementi;
  • dopo accesso diventavano 161;
Molte grazie. --M.casanova (talk) 10:55, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS Noticeboard[edit]

Hi, We have new request in OTRS noticeboard about this ticket. please, check it.--MehdiTalk 03:49, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see you are adding ticket:2011101310013458 to many images from Category:Doual'art, like here. Unfortunately ticket:2011101310013458 is only applicable to text not images. See the OTRS message: "I agree to publish all texts under the free license Creative Commons attribution share alike - all (project descriptions, biographies, description of artworks). This documentation is made available to contribute to WikiAfrica. Please note that at the moment the images belong to the artists and they are not in CC BY-SA unless differently stated in the website." (emphasis is mine). So at the moment there is no proof that any images using this ticket are released under CC license. I think the OTRS ticket information should be removed from those images and we should seek permission from the photographers like Lard Buurman, or delete the images. --Jarek Tuszynski (talk) 12:40, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clarifying this, I do not know how I have missed the earlier email on this ticket. I guess I am not used to tickets that have 2 permissions bundled in one (text from a website and images from a photographer). So all the photographs by Lard Buurman are OK. The only problem is with photographs by other photographers, like Category:Photos by Sandrine Dole or Category:Photographs by Paulin Tchuenbou‎. About 400 of them use the ticket:2011101310013458, which was added by other users on the upload time. --Jarek Tuszynski (talk) 16:41, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I can easily remove ticket:2011101310013458 from non Lard Buurman images with my bot, if that helps. We will probably need OTRS emails from other photographers, like Sandrine Dole or Paulin Tchuenbou‎, or at least some place online where they state the license of their images. --Jarek Tuszynski (talk) 11:42, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
File:Metro rome.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi! How are you? Where can I send you my adress? By e-mail? Tournasol7 (talk) 22:34, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and thank you for the kind gift. However, since I do not live in Italy and am not really fluent in Italian it may be a waste of money to send me the book in paper. I propose that WMIT saves that money and, if it is ever made available in electronic format, please let me know.

Best regards! --Hispalois (talk) 20:41, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Stone bridge.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Nominated for deletion by User:Mdaniels5757. I am a software, please do not ask me any questions but the user who nominated your file for deletion or at the help desk. //Deletion Notification Bot (talk) 17:32, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mdaniels5757: I see. Looking better at the user account it is actually not really clear whether the user is really the author or not - it is expected so, but many other images are likely NASA images. I see you asked him for more information. Thank you for pointing this out. Unless the user provides more information (either changing the license, confirming its authorship or pointing to a public domain source), I support the nomination for deletion. - Laurentius (talk) 08:05, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I just looked into it more, it looks like it came from [1], so it is a copyright violation. --Mdaniels5757 (talk) 15:42, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Mdaniels5757: It looks so. Thank you for spotting it! - Laurentius (talk) 17:02, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. House of the Prince of Naples in Pompeii[edit]

Yesterday, I completed an extensive article about the House of the Prince of Naples (Casa del Principe di Napoli) for English Wikipedia with much of it based on my English translation of the German text "Hauser in Pompeji: Casa del Principe di Napoli" by Volker Michael Strocka. I thought you might be interested in this as a basis for an article about this house in Pompeii for Italian Wikipedia. I was discussing the article with Andrew Wallace-Hadrill, an English archaeologist who has worked extensively in Pompeii and Herculaneum and he asked me if I had gotten permission from Massimo Osanna to upload the pictures of the Roman wall paintings to Wikimedia Commons. I explained to Professor Wallace-Hadrill that under U.S. copyright law, such photographs of two-dimensional artwork that is in the public domain are considered to be slavish copies and that is the position of English Wikipedia and no further permission is required. For the sake of courtesy, though, should I send a letter or something? Also, How do I change the Pompeii template so it includes a link to the new page? You asked if I could submit my translation of Strocka's text to Wikisource and I have requested permission from OTRS but received no reply. At present I have a .pdf copy online on academia.edu. But, I could convert it to Epub if I receive permission. Perhaps the folks on Wikisource thought it was too academic to be of interest?? I have a copy of the email from Professor Strocka granting me copyright permission to create and share the translation. Is that enough? He is quite elderly now and would probably not understand anything too technologically complex to submit permissions. Recently, a friend asked me to submit some of his photography to Wikimedia Commons and even though I explained the OTRS process to him, even he was confused by the email he received from them and didn't know what to do next. Votazioni[edit]

Buon giorno, Laurentius. Buon proseguimento.--Fausta Samaritani (talk) 14:56, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
