User talk:LairdSchnickmann~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Every Source and Link is given. it was late, when I upload them, now everything should be okay. If not, wrote again, I will try to correct, if possible.
- All the images are currently missing a license tag. The source link does not clearly states which license the images are released under.
- E.g. for Image:Fulvia.jpg you state Roman Numismatic Gallery as source and state it is open source. But their copyright policy states "Any content such as images, text, etc. from this site are protected by copyright laws and may not be used unless permission is granted in writing. Please note that in case of donated images the copyright lies with the orginal copyright holders." Unless you have a written permission this is considered a copyright violation. --|EPO| 11:51, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- If you edit an image taken from a website you may call it own work. But the original image is still copyrighted and will maybe not allow edits. Therefore it is still a copyright violation. Unless you real fast can document you got permission I will mark those as copyright violations and they will be deleted. --|EPO| 16:18, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- All images besides Image:Ventidius.JPG has now been marked as copyright violations. In all cases it was not stated why the images are in public domain. Also none of the sites can characterized as "open source". Some sites does not display copyright information, which means content is copyrighted. Other claimed copyright on material. As you have not provided a permission to use together with the images we must believe you have not obtained this permission to use copyrighted material. --|EPO| 17:05, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Fulvia.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called LairdSchnickmann. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name LairdSchnickmann~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
