Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Better source request for Image:Yatesville Lake.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Yatesville Lake.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hi. Thanks for contributing to Wikimedia Commons! However you should know that there are some issues with File:Downtown of Jenkins KY.jpg which you uploaded. Please include categories with images you upload. For photos like this, a category of the place would probably be good, for example "Category:Suchandso County, Kentucky" (I don't know the name of the county where this location is, perhaps you do"). "Category:Kentucky" would do, though something more specific would be preferred. A more serious problem is the copyright tag. The photo is certainly NOT "PD-ineligible" ("This file is ineligible for copyright and therefore in the public domain, because it consists entirely of information that is common property and contains no original authorship."), which applies to, for example, a simple drawing of a circle. What sort of free license would the photographer/creator of the image like to share the image under? See Commons:Licensing for some tips. Having this issue fixed is absolutely required, since Commons can only host media that is either public domain or shared by the copyright holder under free licenses.
