Brno (re: border)[edit]

I reverted this edit. The jpeg image you uploaded (which I converted to PNG) had a red border. Cheers, Andrew pmk 29 June 2005 15:48 (UTC)

Change to your user page[edit]

Hi Kirk, I made a change to your user page to protect you a bit from spam. Displaying your full email address on web pages is usually not that good an idea as not only friendly people like me come across it, but also those pushing Viagra and such will put it on their lists... Please consider using Babel templates on your user page you indicate your language skills. Cheers! Siebrand 08:00, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you've uploaded Image:Arboretum Brno 13.jpg and I thought I should turn your attention to a common error.
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used in more than one way. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing! Sorry, but it wasn't planed visit. I wasn't there before and this place is magical. I don't have a list of this plants. --Kirk 20:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. You might wanna add Uncategorized to it so someone who knows these plants puts them in the right category and renames them. Thanks, Yonatan talk 20:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kirk979, at the Geocoding project we have noticed that you uploaded a number of pictures from one of the less covered regions on earth. Maybe you could consider adding coordinates to some of your images. They will show up on the WikiMiniAtlas and the Google Earth Commons-layer. You can find instructions on how to add coordinates to your images at Commons:Geocoding. Thank you in advance! The Geocoding team --EugeneZelenko 14:21, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kirk979!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Please help replace this outdated license[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

The images we would like you to check are:

Deprecated License[edit]

Hello. Thank you for uploading Image:Autogram Jaromira Nohavici.jpg, however the license that you have uploaded it under has been deprecated. Please could you select a new free license that describes the rights of the image correctly? If you are not able to do this, the image will be deleted in 7 days.

For more information on licenses that can be used on Wikimedia Commons, please see Commons:Licensing. If you have any questions, please ask at the village pump. Thank you for your patience and consideration. This is an automatic message by Nikbot.--Filnik 21:41, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Files you uploaded may be deleted[edit]

The files listed below, which you uploaded, have been tagged OTRS pending for more than 30 days. This tag indicates that an email setting out permission to use the file was sent to the OTRS team. Unfortunately, we cannot find any record that such an email has been received, and accordingly the file remains without permission. Unless the OTRS team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have not sent the permission, please send it to "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org" now. Please quote the file name in your email. If you have, please leave a message at the OTRS noticeboard, quoting the file name, so that a volunteer can follow this up. Alternatively, you can contact an OTRS volunteer directly. Please note that this message is being left by an automated bot, whose operator is not an OTRS volunteer, therefore please do not send this information to me, as it will not save your images from deletion. Nahrávání nových verzí fotek[edit]

Ahoj. --Harold (talk) 00:18, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to Moravia map[edit]

Please do not change again this map with your version; this map must show only Moravian lands in Czech Republic; the map with the enclaves is still existing on Wiki commons here .--Carnby (talk)

Your map is bad. I'm from Moravia. Moravian enclaves in Silesia were also parts of Moravia. There were moravian laws in force and organs of Silesia had only administrative competences there. --Kirk (talk) 01:22, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We need a map showing Moravian territory in present Czech Republic without showing historical enclaves or similar; a map just like this or this for the Atlas of Czech Republic and for pages like this. The red areas are aesthetically unpleasant and out of contest. If you think they are all wrong, please feel free to edit all these three maps but do not add red/blue coloured areas only in the Moravian one reflecting historical changes/enclaves: there shouldn't be any overlapping areas in these three maps. Note that I do not intend to offend you; let's get calm and find a common solution.--Carnby (talk) 10:32, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
These are not any changes, only different administration! --Kirk (talk) 11:49, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In this case this map must be changed since the areas in red in the first map are overlapping with areas in green in this one.--Carnby (talk) 14:24, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fotky uměleckých děl[edit]

Ahoj.

Dear Kirk, please stop with revert war on this file, if not I will write to local admins to block your edits. Small coast of arm of the Czech Republic is using for natural monuments, nature reserves, nature parks and protected trees, big coast of arms is using only for national nature monuments, national nature reserves and nature parks. And since the first group is much more widespread and larger, we are using small cost of arms. If you don't like it, write to your government to change rule about using everywhere big coast of arm. Until it's not, please do not destroy this image arbitrarily. Or make your own barnstar and giving to the people, if they wants. However, I produced this version of file and it is unacceptable re-upload with version whit totally different meaning and images. And next, if you reupload, you do not hold rightly licenses and authors and this is in disagreement with license policy. Regards --Chmee2 (talk) 11:46, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Císařské otisky map stabilního katastru[edit]

Ahoj Kirku! Je mi líto, ale reprodukce výřezů císařských otisků map stabilního katastru nejsou volné, práva drží ČUZK a tebou nahrané výřezy mají příslušný vodoznak, což není na Commons dovoleno Commons:Watermarks#Reasons not to upload watermarked images, Commons:EXIF#Purpose_for_using_EXIF_at_Commons. Proto bude nutno je vymazat. V současné době jednám s příslušnými pradcovníky ČUZK o eventuálním uvolnění některých výřezů, ale asi to nebude snadné. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

how did you download the map in one piece[edit]

Hi Kirk,

how did you manage to download this map from the source at zoom level 4 in one piece? I'd like to do that with other maps from the same source. Or did you download many tiles and stitched them manually? Greetings,--Ratzer (talk) 07:07, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In one piece? :D you must be joking :D I am using for example Adobe Photoshop. --Kirk (talk) 21:40, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was not joking. I have already found a software solution to download images presented by zoomify in one piece, such as this one. It was not unreasonable to expect that someone had found a solution for maps presented by mapserv, too.--Ratzer (talk) 20:55, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Moravia, moravian enclaves in Silesia, and change of moravian borders in 1920.png, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.

If you created the content yourself, enter Own as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, GFDL or Cc-zero to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

I have imposed the map in google earth and the northern border of Moravia at the end of the 13th century include villages like en:Grudynia Wielka, en:Tworków, en:Rudyszwałd, which are according to that map clearly within Moravia, but none of them was yet actually known in the historical sources. They were first mentioned later and clearly belonged to the Wrocław diocese from their beginnings. I know there were a few border corrections and border treaties under en:Władysław Opolski, for example in 1261 along the en:Ostravice (river), but that border doesn't go along any river so I wonder what are the sources for this specific line, knowing the sources are scarce. I think it should be more like in this article Přibližné vedení severní hranice Moravy na počátku 13. století -approximate rather than so exact. I'm writing to you because I've seen you have corrected the map several times. What do you think. Maybe you also have some comments on my recent map of Polish Moravia File:Polskie Morawy.png. Uživatelské kategorie[edit]

Zdravím. Nemíchej, prosím, dohromady uživatelské kategorie s tématickými kategoriemi, jako jsi to udělal před rokem založením Category:GALAXY 2018 A7 (Židenice (Brno-Židenice)). Hierarchie uživatelských kategorií se nám s tématickými kategoriemi křížit, kategorie a podkategorie podle uploadera nemohou nahrazovat ani zastupovat normální tématickou kategorizaci, jak se polopatě píše v manuálu: "Subcategories of user categories must also be marked as user categories, and not be categorised under the main category tree. Furthermore, media files must still be categorised under the main category tree (i.e. files in Category:Photos of the 2012 Summer Olympics by User:Example must also have a main category such as Category:2012 Summer Olympics or subcategories thereof)."

Pokud je někde hodně neroztříděného obsahu a ty zrovna nemáš chuť ho poctivě zpracovat a roztřídit, tak tě to může dráždit, ale zamést ten obsah někam pod koberec a nechat ho "zmizet" opravdu není řešení. Pokud by v příslušné hlavní kategorii (např. Židenice) takový obsah skutečně nějak překážel, tak je možné pro něj vytvořit v tématickém kategorizačním stromu nějaké pracovní podkategorie typu "Unidentified locations in Židenice", případně "Images from Židenice to be sorted", ale normálně to funguje tak, že právě vyšší kategorie jsou určeny k tomu, aby přímo v nich čekal obsah na roztřídění do podrobnějších kategorií. Některé čekají týden, některé dvacet let, některé se nedočkají nikdy - tak už to chodí. --ŠJů (talk) 20:58, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
