Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement[edit]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open![edit]

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

Neferkare Neby's scarab[edit]

Hello Khruner, as I was researching on Neferkare Neby, I saw that you uploaded a scarab (File:NeferkaraNebyScarabPetrie.PNG) of him. I am surprised because this scarab is not mentioned in Baker's book, an unusual omission, furthermore the scarab is really SIP in style and not FIP. Additionally, Ryholt says that seals in the form of scarabs appeared in the SIP and only in the case of Pepi III does he has a doubt. So I was wondering if Petrie's identification of the owner as Neby is still valid? Could it not be that this scarab is that of a SIP ruler, Petrie was wrong, and the scarab was reattributed by later scholars? Indeed if not so, it should be mentioned by Baker. Unless of course, he missed it entirely.Iry-Hor (talk) 17:43, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fiori gialli[edit]

Non sono un esperto, ma ho sottoposto la tua foto a dei veri esperti. Mi dicono che senza un dettaglio dei fiori una identificazione è del tutto impossibile. Spiacemte. Ciao. Ettore

Hi Khruner,

thanks for the photo. May you please tell me more details to your experiment. How have you created the ethylene-rich atmosphere and which concentration had it? How many days were the fruits stored?--Kopiersperre (talk) 17:39, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kopiersperre, I've just PM you. Regards, Khruner (talk) 17:31, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have a Russian mail adress, which is sometimes problematic. Until now I haven't received any mail.--Kopiersperre (talk) 17:42, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Strange about my pm, let's wait some more. I've received your test, though not in my standard email (where they usually go) but in the notification box above... Khruner (talk) 18:07, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Shoshenq V[edit]

Hi! Thanks for the note with respect to this image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Limestone_stela_of_Ankh-Hor._It_mentions_the_22nd_year_of_the_reign_of_Shoshenq_IV._From_Egypt._22nd_Dynasty._From_the_Harding_Smith_collection._Now_housed_in_the_Petrie_Museum_of_Egyptian_Archaeology,_London.jpg

Your comment was: Unfortunately, this does not belong to Shoshenq IV but to the year 22 of Shoshenq V Aakheperre, as stated on it, see also here)

I have check out the information with the website of the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, University College London. It says Shoshenq IV. This is copied/pasted from their website:..."Limestone stela with hieroglyphic inscription dated year 22 of Aakheperra Sheshonq IV,...". Please, your comment and further actions? Thank you! Osama
