AGSIRD logo[edit]
Hi. You have uploaded Image:LogoAGSIRD.jpg and stated that you are the author. But the logo appears at the official website and I cannot find anything about its free status. Could you please explain that? Regards. --Dodo 10:48, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that you can't free the image and restrict its usage. Please take a look at Commons:Licensing:
- The following restrictions must not apply to the image or other media file:
- Use by Wikimedia only (the only non-free-licensed exceptions hosted here as well are Wikimedia logos and other designs copyrighted by the Wikimedia Foundation that are the trademarks, service marks or other design elements that identify the sites of the various projects of the Wikimedia Foundation)
- The following restrictions must not apply to the image or other media file:
- I won't discuss if the chief financial officer of AGSIRD has the right to give such authorization or not over that image (mainly because IANAL), but this is certainly not the proper way: please choose an acceptable license and publish the material using it on your website. Then, we'll have no problem accepting it because everyone will be able to check it.
- Regards. --Dodo 15:15, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
AGSIRD logo, part deux[edit]
I came here to let you know that I tagged Image:LogoAGSIRD.jpg as a copyright violation because it's clearly from a copyrighted website and there's no indication on that site that it's free-use. I see that Dodo previously commented on this issue, but I don't know that it was ever resolved. As it's currently tagged, it seems out of place on Commons. Please know that it's been listed as a candidate for speedy deletion; an admin will have to make the final call. Cheers! Esrever 03:48, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Pay attention to copyright | Image:Agaricus xanthodermus2.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. The Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content, that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added will soon be deleted. If you believe this image is not a copyright violation, please explain why on the image description page.

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT (talk) 06:00, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open![edit]
You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear Jplm,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
-- Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 09:43, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

File:The curious incident.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

Your message[edit]
Ce champignon n'est pas Trametes versicolor mais plutôt Stereum hirsutum. This mushroom is not Trametes versicolor but rather Stereum hirsutum.
Thank you very much for your message. I always ask the names of mushrooms to experts. Because I don't know them myself. If you are sure the name is wrong. Can you change the name.
Kind regards,--Famberhorst (talk) 06:17, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
