Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open![edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Johannnes89,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.

Question[edit]

Do you remember what "JF141221FairyHill.png" looked like - I have noticed that you removed some nonsense from my Portuguese talk page with the deleted image being part of the edit. I have bookmarked the Facebook profiles which had images uploaded to Commons including the one where the most appears to have come from and there is a chance the uploaded photo from today might have come from that Facebook profile. Regards, Iggy the Swan (talk) 16:07, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Iggy the Swan I kinda think I've seen a similar picture before. It was a white man with very short blonde hair. Johannnes89 (talk) 16:09, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remember any photos seen by me which had short blonde hair. But I am guessing, by looking at the deleted image title plus what I can see from the description from this photo that it might be an apparent match. I can't say that for definite though.
Regarding editing of my talk pages on other wikis including Tagalog, I have noticed a discussion on Meta that there is the possibility of preventing editing of talk pages on smaller Wiki projects. I don't know other languages apart from English and you know at least two so it should be some way of solving that part of the LTA problem. Iggy the Swan (talk) 16:43, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Iggy the Swan ups you're right that's definitely not blonde hair but that was the deleted picture.
Could you give me a link to this meta discussion? Might be helpful, even though it doesn't solve the problem entirely, since he has still plenty of other talk pages and articles to vandalize (and of course his own user page). Johannnes89 (talk) 16:57, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Meta discussion can be found here.
Perhaps some advice for the person operating that Facebook profile is to get those pictures out of the public sight since what I see from the response that those pictures seems to be the same person. I'm guessing that was picked at random to start with last year and you first noticed that on de:Matthew Lowton which you'd reverted with the text "Änderung 213041840 von Mike4Matthews17 rückgängig gemacht; ?" where its was this image which Tureilo pointed out for the reason for deleting. Those are currently public photos by the world icon on the right side of the date. Having this Facebook user to change the privacy setting does help in order for the LTA to not upload any more photos of this guy, he probably won't be happy if he sees his photos on Commons if he ever visited the site. Thanks for uploading File:Lydia Hüskens (FDP) (cropped).jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Lydia Hüskens (FDP) (cropped).jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

for future reference: I didn't realise that the original picture File:Lydia Hüskens (FDP).jpg (uploaded by another user) was missing permission information, when I used the CropTool to upload a second version. --Johannnes89 (talk) 15:50, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of deletion request[edit]

here, since usage of the photo has only been used illegitimately on more than just your x-wiki talk pages. Thankfully, the request I started 3 weeks ago has been dealt with, not sure if the William den Wombat edit should stay or go since the discussion between us has been closed after correct deletion. Iggy the Swan (talk) 16:13, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I considered requesting deletion as well but forgot about it :) Johannnes89 (talk) 18:49, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
