@Ehab ali mousa: That's not an article, it's a file description page.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 20:31, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi

I want to remove it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ehab ali mousa (talk • contribs) 20:40, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

@Ehab ali mousa: I know. Commons:Deletion requests/File:Ehab ali mousa.jpg will probably take at least a week for an Admin to decide. Please be patient. Also, please sign your posts and stop making new sections here.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 21:15, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Image Reseize

Hey Jeff it’s Orbit, in a sticky situation but sorting it out.

Anyways could you or one of your stalkers resize this image removing the black boarder on the bottom. Here’s the image: File:Air France A330 F-GZCP.jpg. Thx Orbit. 194.207.74.71 23:33, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

@OrbitalEnd48401: The canonical link was File:Air France A330 F-GZCP.jpg. Please learn how to form such links. That file was deleted as a copyvio by @Jcb without notification. Also, please login.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 01:38, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
Yes, it was a blatant copyvio. The suspect wanted you to delete the watermark. Jcb (talk) 07:52, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
@Jcb: I'm sorry, I thought he had a better understanding of copyright than that.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 12:23, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey Jeff, I cannot login onto Wikipeida itself due to reasons in which i'll be sorting. OrbitalEnd48401 (talk) 18:48, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Block

Hey Jeff. I’d like your help regarding a block that has been placed on my account. I don’t know why I can edit freely here? Very odd. But seeming as we’ve had a couple of discussions I was wondering if you would side with me as I’d like to change the way I behave in Wikipedia. Along with the fact I’ve gotten yet another message saying I am apparently Sockpuppeting which is bogus. I’d say I’m very lucky I changed my phone contract on the 1st as I accidentally leaked my IP on the appeal regarding the first Sockpuppet warning I got. So I believe the person trying to impersonate me is using VPN. From what I’ve seen online it can replicate IP’s from other countries and so on which scares the life out of me. OrbitalEnd48401 (talk) 23:01, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

@OrbitalEnd48401: All the advice you've been given on your user talk page on English Wikipedia is good; the advice that you didn't need references, not so much. Have you reviewed en:WP:RS, en:WP:V, and en:WP:REFB?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 23:11, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Thanks Jeff. OrbitalEnd48401 (talk) 08:44, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

@OrbitalEnd48401: You're welcome.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 08:47, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

Jeff G. I genuinely need your help. My ban appeal has been declined by an unfair administrator and I don't know what to do. I don't want to be banned from editing. Please is there anything you can do Jeff? Any good nice admins you know? Any people I can email? I really need help Jeff, I am serious. OrbitalEnd48401 (talk) 22:32, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

@OrbitalEnd48401: I'm sorry, but there is nothing more I can do for you on enwiki. It appears you chose to ignore the good advice you were given, including not logging in sometimes (thus leaking your home kcom and uni IP Addresses 194.207.74.71 and 195.195.244.197). Since you did that while blocked on enwiki on May 1st thru May 3rd (after you were blocked at 18:35, 24 April 2019 (UTC)), that is considered block evasion there. If you did it intentionally to make it look like another user supported your opinion, that is considered sockpuppetry. It is very important for Administrators, Checkusers, and Arbitration Committee (ArbCom) members there to understand why you did it (as well as your apology for doing it and your promise not to do it again) in order to properly process your unblock requests, SPI investigation pages, and emailed appeals, respectively. You and @Andrewgprout also don't seem to yet understand the difference between blocks and bans on enwiki, so you both should compare and contrast en:WP:BP and en:WP:BAN. Your block there does not affect your ability to edit here on Commons, as enwiki and Commons are separate projects with separate blocks and block logs.
I would also like to know why you have been making what look like personal attacks despite my advice and en:WP:NPA (as well as your apology for doing that and your promise not to do that again).
In addition, you should really look closely at the lines on Thatcher's face in the thumbnails at Commons:Graphic Lab/Photography workshop/Archive/2018#Margaret Thatcher, and at the difference between the square brackets you used above and the curly braces in {{Re}}.
Finally, you should take heed of the nonexistence of wikt:ambicantly ("ambicantly" doesn't seem to be a word, so what do you mean by using it?) and consider getting advice from a local English professor/instructor, Autism specialist, or both. Similarly, please compare and contrast wikt:reseize and wikt:resize.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 05:24, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

No, that was no for gods sake. I am sick of being accused block evasion. I’ve already had someone impersonate me on normal wikipeida. And I mean amicably. OrbitalEnd48401 (talk) 10:07, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

Question

Hello. How did you do that ? CalalC99 (talk) 11:55, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

@CalalC99: I used the "Rollback" feature, documented at Commons:Rollback, because you continue to not follow instructions on COM:RFR.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 12:03, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Copyright Violation - Warning

@JeffG.: Have recently received a copyright violation warning for repeat infringements which seems unfair given that all these violations appear to refer to recent uploads of images which were effectively made around the same dates and before I was aware that Lithuania has limited FOP. In fact the initial tags were all around the same dates but some were disputed, as per previous communications with yourself, and certainly not all the supposed 'violations' have been clear cut (especially for someone who is not familiar with the 'deletion process' in spite of having uploaded thousands of images and provided much information over a number of years for others via both Wikimedia and Wikipedia). Admittedly I do find the whole process not only frustrating but upsetting as it appears that there is a disposition to impose deletion rather than guide users towards good practice, and with different administrators using different arguments to justify deletions one is left feeling that whenever an image is tagged, for whatever reason, one is generally wasting one's time to attempt to have a deletion tag removed. While I am now less naive and will certainly be more careful with what images I upload from Lithuania (which I plan to visit again soon) I feel that in future I will be reluctant to upload images that may in fact already be free of third-party copyright and thus other users will wrongly be denied access to these images, as well as images of other users who have also been confronted with a seemingly unfriendly process, and many valid expressions of Lithuanian culture will regrettably not be available via Wikimedia Commons. Please consider withdrawing your warning and if I have mistakenly still misunderstood any aspect of the 'deletion process' please bear with me and help someone who is certainly not looking to seek commercial gain or abuse the process in any way. Thank you for your consideration and understanding --SM1 (talk) 16:30, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

✓ Done.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 16:40, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

PS The three files recently tagged by Ellin Beltz (May 17) were originally tagged by Turelio on April 25 and although I questioned the tagging at the time without any information to the contrary I presumed they would be deleted so was surprised to see them effectively re-tagged by Ellin (which I think demonstrates that perhaps I am not the only person confused with the 'deletion process')! --SM1 (talk) 16:49, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

@Scotch Mist: @Ellin Beltz appears not to have been sure of the nonspecific no permission tagging of those files by @Túrelio, so she started DR Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Media missing permission as of 25 April 2019 instead of outright deleting those files. That DR is now the best place to discuss those files, rather than here or your user talk page.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 17:00, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Hi Jeff G., My intent - as you correctly surmise - was to create a trail for these files due to them having been tagged "no permission". After their 7 days had passed, I felt these might be able to be retained with proper information and sent them to DN for the assistance of the collective. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:05, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
@Ellin Beltz: Thanks, but resistance is not futile.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 17:08, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
And the revolution will not be televised Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:10, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
@JeffG.: Thank you for considering my request and for removing the warning to block me - the comments of yourself and Ellin are also helpful in me better understanding the process and when back in Lithuania I will endeavour to make contact with persons who may be able to provide appropriate copyright permissions. --SM1 (talk) 18:16, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Dear JEff, can you delete this logo? TippieLover1921 (talk) 20:21, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

@TippieLover1921: No, sorry, you will just have to wait for an Admin to close Commons:Deletion requests/File:TippieCOBlogo.jpg.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 20:25, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

Dear Jeff, why can't you delete it? TippieLover1921 (talk) 20:27, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

@TippieLover1921: 60% of the voters at Commons:Administrators/Requests/Jeff G. 3 felt I shouldn't be allowed to. :(   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 20:33, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

"You're welcome."

Hello, Jeff. Ha, I already had intended to write this to you. Now, I got this nice reply myself. ●^_^●

What I actually wanted to ask is: It would be good when you in COM:HD and COM:VP, after a user thanked you, beside this fine reply would also add the {{Section resolved}} template. So, these threads, when no further reaction can be expected, will be faster archived. — Speravir – 02:09, 25 May 2019 (UTC)

@Speravir: Ok.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 02:12, 25 May 2019 (UTC)

Copyright violation?

Hey Jeff!

I had a question, and I didn't want to ask it using {{Help me}}. So, I've uploaded File:Gov. Malloy, State and Local Officials Break Ground on the Future Site of Hartford’s Parkville Market (44807788871).jpg and subsequently File:Mayor Luke Bronin.jpg to Commons. I didn't realize there was any other pictures depicting Luke Bronin, but I was pleasantly surprised that this was indeed the case (had I known that, I wouldn't have bothered to upload the two pictures which are of lesser quality). I generally get suspicious of good quality headshots, though, and decided to do a reverse image search on File:Headshot 6.jpg (File:Bronin.jpg). Confirming my skepticism in this matter, it seems this is indeed an image found online. I think it is likely this is a copyright violation, but I am not 100% confident.

What should I do? –MJLTalk 08:32, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

@MJL: Thanks for asking. http://www.hartford.gov/images/mayors/Mayor_Bronin/Bronin_Headshot-1.jpg appears to have originated from the same underlying photo. Per http://web.archive.org/web/20160125195847/http://www.hartford.gov/images/mayors/Mayor_Bronin/Bronin_Headshot-1.jpg it was on the Governor's site 2016-01-25, on his 25th day in office. It is copyrighted by Bill Morgan Media LLC, and was presumably taken in 2014 while Bronin was still general counsel for Governor Malloy and was considering running for Mayor. File:Headshot 6.jpg was uploaded 5 November 2015 by @Drapery24, formerly @Vasishth1, who also added 11,332 bytes to Bronin's article in this edit on election night which mitigated the BLPPROD source issues and provided much of the current content and may have a COI. I have added en:User talk:Drapery24#Welcome!. If a COI is declared, there may not be a copyright issue. If no COI is declared, we can pursue the matter with the photographer and en:WP:COIN.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 11:18, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
[Thank you for the ping] It certainly wouldn't be the first time a Connecticut politician edited their own article. Either way, your thoroughness in looking into this matter is highly appreciated! –MJLTalk 19:31, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
