Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Please provide a source for every small image used in the montage, provide source, author and license/copyright status of the image. See Category:Montages of cities for examples... All images are not your own work I can doubtlesly say. So placing Own work on it not solves the problem. --Martin H. (talk) 19:30, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

I will restore this two imags. If you think it works this way: No, Commons users are not the idiots searching every single image on the web to demonstrate that it was stolen. If a user becomes distrusted his uploads will be deleted. Im looking forward for good uploads, if you dont have images you may help me to identify the Moroccan soccer players I upload to Category:Association football clubs of Morocco. Thats not different to any other place of the world - the only difference is that there are not so many Moroccans online so less people to ask for photos. I keep my eyes open. If you can identify a player (File:Raja de Casablanca vs Maghreb de Fes, November 09 2008-07.jpg, 21 and 26) please write there name in the description, at best with a link to their Wikipedia article, [[:fr:Name Surname|]]. --Martin H. Your account will be renamed

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Jabérien. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Jabérien~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
