Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Dear Incola,

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

• In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
• In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
2. In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.

Riguardo a Commons:Village_pump#Wikidata_tools_concerning_images potresti darmi qualche dato? Quanti sono gli AP di commons attivi (e.g. "edit ultimo mese"). E quanti di loro hanno avuto più di un edit nell'ultimo mese/anno su wikidata? Parto quindi urgenze non ce ne sono...--Alexmar983 (talk) 12:50, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Specifico: l'avviso che possiamo spedire ai commonari che hai selezionato è indipendente dalle utenze locali. A loro manderei anche solo un insieme di tool utili come segnalazione.

Però possiamo per sfizio ragionare su questo gruppo sulla discriminazione dell'attività "locale" a livello geografico. Dato un utente commons quanto è costoso estrarre le coordinate delle foto che ha caricato su commons quando ci sono? Questo indipendetemente da cosa poi ci facciamo di quelle coordinate, giusto per stimare il tempo che ci vorrebbe. Mi limito a quelle caricate e non ha quelle su cui ha lavorato perché 1) sono di meno 2) sono molto più specifiche per individuare una zona di interesse. --Alexmar983 (talk) 03:19, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

se è uguale allora invece che almeno un edit nell'ultimo mese ne metrei almeno due. Perché un edit non è sempre indicie di attività reale, ma molto raro che un attività sporadica si manifesti con due edit ravvicinati. Se ci sono significa che o l'utenza è attiva, o non è attiva di solito ma forse sta curiosando più del solito, e sono tutti e due ottimi sottogruppi come obiettivo. Quindi anche per avere un confronto potresti cercarmi quanti sono gli AP con due edit su wikidata? grazie!

Quando hai tempo e voglia (tanto io qua sto a fare cose ben più urgenti :D) prova a importare i dati delle coordinate delle foto caricate del gruppo con due edit (che tanto sono di meno quindi penso sia meno faticoso, tanto vale partire da questi), e vediamo se su quell'elenco si può lavorare. Per ora punterei a tutte le foto caricate fin dall'inizio, poi possiamo raffinare sulle più recenti se fosse troppo costoso in termini di tempo.--Alexmar983 (talk) 00:21, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

è vero, che errore scemo, ti avevo chiesto "più di un edit" ma per qualche motivo mi ero convinto mi avessi scritto "almeno un edit". Scusa.

quindi il numero è corretto come base di partenza. La domanda adesso è quanto ci vuole a estrarre per ogni singolo utente le coordinate delle immagini? Si potrebbe prendere per avere una tempistica omogenea solo le "ultime X immagini" almeno. Interessante quindi per fissare un X sensato sapere se si possono avere quelli "con almeno X immagini caricate" e "con almeno X immagini caricate con coordinate" come ulteriore sottogruppo. Per esempio X=10 potrebbe già essere sufficiente per farsi un'idea delle coordinate medie. Probabile che un AP sia esperto e che quindi le sue ultime immagini abbiano quasi tutte coordinate quando possibile. Anche per questo focalizzarsi su tutte le immagini non ha senso, le prime saranno quasi sempre georeferenziate peggio.

a margine, quante foto ha in genere un AP su commons in media? probabilmente non poche ma gli AP attivi su data potrebbero essere utenze attive molto cross wiki cioè anziane, alle quali il flag viene dato come riconoscimento da un sysop che le conosce da altri progetti.--Alexmar983 (talk) 09:57, 4 March 2016 (UTC)

così tante per un AP medio? Impressionante. Temo però che sia falsato da uploader folli con decine di migliaia di upload. se l'hai calcolato con una semplice divisione. Comunque l'analisi è estrarre le 10 più recenti immagini con coordinate, e fare media e deviazione standard e vedere quanti nel gruppo cadono entro una bassa deviazione standard. Questo non pone a riparo da upload di luoghi isolati (tipo le foto dell'ultima vacanza che intasano magari per caso le ultime immagini caricate) ma per ora non terrei in conto di questo scenario anche se un filtro si può trovare. La cosa importante è vedere se nella massa di AP attivi si ottengono valori medi sensati di deviazione sulle coordinate. Nel caso della decimalizzazione in aree come l'Europa una regione subregionale dovrebbe essere individuabile con una deviazione standard dell'ordine di 0.1-0.2 decimali al massimo rispetto a un centro su latitudine e longitudine.

Un altro trucco potrebbe essere selezionare magari non 10 ma 14 immagini con coordinate più recenti ma scartando le due più estreme di longitudine e latitudine (più alta e bassa rispettivamente). Questo dovrebbe rimuovere valori fuori scala sporadici con una selezione rozza ma presumo poco impegnativa. in alternativa si può calcolare la deviazione standard su 14 foto caricate, rimuovere i valori più lontani dal centro, ricalcolarla su 10 foto e vedere se migliora. Questo metodo rozzo non dovrebbe essere sufficiente per individuare i soggetti che pendolano per lavoro o famiglia fra luoghi diversi. I casi di soggetti che sono ancorati su aree distinte finiranno nella categoria di deviazioni grande e potremmo estrarli un'altra volta con più calma. Se otteniamo migliaia di soggetti chiari con una selezione semplice non ha alcun senso raschiare il barile con una selezione più raffinata per recuperarne un ordine di grandezza minore.--Alexmar983 (talk) 04:46, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

se ti viene più semplice col periodo temporale, va bene anche quello. A essere pignoli a quel punto ci sarebbe bisogno di una statistica sui periodi di caricamento. Per esempio "ultimo mese" per molti potrebbe dire anche zero immagini. Io sono un AP e ci sono periodi di mesi in cui non carico nulla. "ultimi sei mesi" o "un anno" per un AP probabilmente è più indicativo in generale. Grazie per i numeri dettagliati sui caricamenti, se ottenerli è facili possiamo scegliere di eliminare gli AP con meno immagini per essere sicuri di pescare dove c'è più "materiale statistico".--Alexmar983 (talk) 13:38, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Scusa se ne parlo qua ma preferisco massima trasparenza (e spezzettare il meno possibile). Ho visto il tuo foglio e se mettiamo un filtro a 50 immagini ci perdiamo circa 500 AP, cosa che se aiuta a ottenere un risultato pulito statisticamente non è un problema, siamo su una percentuale pari al 10% dl campione. Però voglio essere sicuro: questo test è stato fatto su tutti gli AP o su quelli attivi su wikidata nell'ultimo mese? Leggo 5000 e passa utenti quindi parliamo probabilmente di tutti gli AP. Giusto per averne conferma.

Bisogna aprire un thread al bar generalista, perché in ogni caso è inaccettabile che ci siano AP con a malapena 1-2 immagini caricata. Potresti fare un xls più completo con sia numero di upload immagini che numero di edit totale? Perché passi chi ha parecchi edit ma pochi upload ma entrambi secondo me era da evitare e per il futuro si dovrebbero fissare dei paletti cautlativi. Fissare almeno il 10% della media attuale mi sembra un paletto più che accettabile.

A parte il fatto che dare un flag di AP a chi ha pochi dit non ha valore per il patrol ma vedo troppe concessioni sulla "fiducia", i flag un minimo uno se li dovrebbe guadagnare. Elenchi generati offline su commons

Scusa se ho aperto quel fronte estemporaneo sulle wikimetriche femminili, in realtà avrei voluto restare concentrati sulle immagini, ma ero troppo curioso.

Sul fronte immagini sto raccogliendo altri spunti e prima di chiedere nuove liste volevo sapere come è la conoscenza tua degli EGO su commons. C'è qualche particolarità? diversità? Sai di qualche it-N smanettone che se ne è occupato di più in passato?

In particolare ci sono due aspetti che su itwiki abbiamo usato poco e vorrei capire quanto è difficile:

• contare il numero di immagini e media in una categoria specifica, incluse le sottocategorie;
• contare le sottocategorie, o almeno avere certezza che non ce ne siano;

Come sempre: NESSUNA urgenza.

Poi appena ho tempo vorrei capire se ci sono anche delle cat di servizio specifiche con elenchi autoaggiornanti su commons e se c'è un link dove si possono trovare, almeno la maggioranza di queste ultime.--Alexmar983 (talk) 15:40, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

Pertanto la mia analisi è corretta, non conviene essere wikipediacentrici e basta focalizzarsi su elementi wikidata che stiano "almeno su X piattaforme" come logica. Ma questo dato è possibile ottenerlo con una sintassi semplice o le quarries sono legnose e possono darmi un dato solo per piattaforma? direi che può andare. Almeno una wikipedia senza P18 (e P373), filtrato per un wikiquote o una seconda wikipedia. Penso che fornirebbe decine di migliaia di risultati comunque. Quindi metterei un rigo di filtro di codice, la possibilità di definire per gli utenti "nazionalità" o "nata a" o "istituzione". Comunque nulla di urgente ora sto organizzando it:Wikipedia:Raduni/WikiGita all'abbazia di San Savino. Wiki Loves Monuments ti aspetta, con centinaia di nuovi comuni fotografabili

Concorso Wiki Loves Monuments Italia 2018 (English version)

Gentile Incola, ti ringraziamo ancora una volta per la tua passata partecipazione a Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM). Il più grande concorso fotografico del mondo si svolge anche questo settembre per documentare e promuovere il patrimonio culturale italiano, con una licenza copyright libera.

Quest'anno è doppiamente facile partecipare: gli oggetti fotografabili coprono quasi 1000 comuni in più, grazie all'adesione di centinaia di nuovi enti fra cui Roma, e alla possibilità di fotografare circa 2000 alberi monumentali. Controlla le liste di monumenti fotografabili! Carica tutte le foto che hai e magari organizza una visita presso i monumenti che ancora non hanno una foto.

Quest'oggi il Parlamento europeo ha respinto la proposta di estendere la libertà di panorama. E allora scattiamo e pubblichiamo tutte le foto che possiamo, almeno per questi monumenti per cui ci è legalmente consentito!
