Many of these flags appear to belong to Category:Flags of micronations. It would have been better if you had delved a little more deeply into the flags category tree (and learned about "noinclude on templates) before starting your new things... AnonMoos (talk) 00:09, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I had researched existing categories while helping to identify flags listed in the "unspecified" category. The ones I included in the "alternate" category (based on definition) are those that virtually exist on gaming sites (such as NationStates).

Wikipedia:Micronations — sometimes also referred to as model countries and new country projects — are entities that claim to be independent nations or states but which are unrecognized by world governments or major international organizations. These nations often exist only on paper, on the Internet, or in the minds of their creators.

Although the last statement of this definition of microstates may apply, they appear to be used in wikipedia:alternate history as may or may not be described in their creators' definitions of the images. It should be noted that nowhere in creator definitions is it clear that they claim to have some kind of slef-proclaimed sovereignty or independence. It is possible they can be classified as both.Imperator331 (talk) 03:17, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
