Hello,

I suspect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_numeral_analysis#/media/File:Roman_numeral_analysis_major,_natural_minor,_harmonic_minor,_melodic_minor.png has some wrongs. 1. At the first line (C major), should the sixth one be "vi"? (You used "vii") 2. At the same line, should the seventh one be B diminished? (You used "m") — Preceding unsigned comment added by Llf (talk • contribs) 06:43, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Llf: If you wish to link to a file inline, without displaying the file, use a colon ([[:File:Roman numeral analysis major, natural minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor.png]])
Please sign and date your comments on talk pages (it is required per Commons:Signatures). Using four tildes (~) is the easiest way.
Thanks for catching the error! I'll fix it and upload the correction. Hyacinth (talk) 01:54, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Hi Hyacinth, you tagged a lot of file with Bad SVG. Thank yu for your contribution.
But want you wanted to tag was (in most cases) a librsvg bug; it made the drawings bad loking, but with "Bad SVG" we classify SVG images with emdedded raster graphics. This can be misunderstood, but should not be mixed up. -- sarang사랑 12:50, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarang: Would you prefer {{Rsvg bug}}? Hyacinth (talk) 23:54, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As you can see, at Chinese jump rope moves or positions.svg and others I changed the tag from "bad" to "bug". -- sarang사랑 08:02, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hyacinth, thank you for your input on Category:Tonic. However, I think the changes you made (moving things from that category to a new category) should have waited until the discussion was complete. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:34, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

fractal islands[edit]

Hi. You have changed name of category fractal curves to fractal islands. What do you mean island here ? If closed curve, then it is subtype of curve. I have found only one link to that name. Is it a standard use ? Have a nice day/ --Adam majewski (talk) 08:57, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The more Wikipedians abuse me and the more spam bullshit I have to deal with the less reasonons are left for me to use Wikipedia. Why are healthy edits discourage and spam like this bull are allowed? I shouldn't contribute if I have to compete with spam, just like a professional athlete shouldn't have to compete with canned food. Hyacinth (talk) 04:29, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sick of people taking jokes seriously as "respecting the process", when they obviously don't, and then being accused, while being serious and respecting the process, of not respecting a process that does not yet exist. Hyacinth (talk) 04:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maple Leaf Rag seventh chord resolution.png[edit]

Hello,

Looks like a timing error in the last 2 notes of bar 2, treble staff. In the original sheet music, these are an 8th note followed by a 16th note. This has been copied into Wikipedia's "Jazz" page. I tried to correct that, but it then said "Musical scores are temporarily disabled", so I cancelled it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frunsorl (talk • contribs) 22:49, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Frunsorl: PNG files and the scores which were/are "temporarily disabled" are different things. The file is a PNG image, usually supported by a MIDI file or other audio. The "scores" are computer programming that create scores and, potentially, audio files to accompany them. If you're going to propose another rhythm you should, ideally. have a source, such as a score, book, or article, to support your assertion. Hyacinth (talk) 05:08, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, here's a scan of the original: http://www.musicsheaf.com/scores/joplin/mapleleaf/scan3.html#img — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frunsorl (talk • contribs) 16:06, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Pinh How do you know that it's nor the final resolution and not a previous repetetion? Hyacinth (talk) 16:31, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. These last 4 bars of the piece are unique. Obviously only the 2nd volta is shown in the snippet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frunsorl (talk • contribs) 20:06, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You can and should sign your posts with four tildes. On Wikipedia verifiability is valued over anything, including the truth. So if you feel that something is obvious, you should find verifiable source claiming that the obvious is the truth. See: WP:V Hyacinth (talk) 15:04, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hyacinth. In the scan I referenced above, the final 2 bars are the 1st and 2nd voltas at the end of the piece. Just before them are the 1st 3 bars of the snippet. The last 2 chords of the 2nd of these bars show the timing difference I mentioned. Frunsorl (talk) 00:34, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Frunsorl: Since Wikipedia verifies reliability/relies on verifiability, you'll have to admit a better source than your witness of the score, such as the crediting for the actual score itself. Hyacinth (talk) 02:52, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I vectorized your upload, Composite number Cuisenaire rods 10.png, as Composite number Cuisenaire rods 10.svg. Thanks! --Smitop (talk) 14:16, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you originally uploaded this file back in 2010 as a non-free file. It has since entered the public domain in Austria (70 years after the author's death) and as such has been brought over to Commons. However, we do not have the original, non-reduced file. It was created in a program called Sibelius 5, and I was wondering if you could upload the original file. (Oinkers42) (talk) 16:12, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oinkers42@ Why? The reduced image is not a copy of an original. What about reduction creates copyright? You're asking me to have a user contact me and ask me reduce my pngs before uploading. Hyacinth (talk) 18:13, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The reason why I asked was to get the larger file, not any indication that the reduction caused a copyright violation. I wanted the larger file in order to replace this file with the original, as to have a larger image. Sorry about the confusion though. (Oinkers42) (talk) 22:57, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Oinkers42: How's the new upload? Hyacinth (talk) 01:39, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. (Oinkers42) (talk) 13:23, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that this file does not accurately represent the abacaba staircase. The sides of each square should be exactly double the length of the previous square. The "c" and "d" squares should poke out between the aba groups. I'm going to create a new version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skuck (talk • contribs) 13:51, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

created .svg version (via TikZ) of one of your diagrams[edit]

Hi, just wanted to let you know I made some TikZ code which creates a vector graphics version of your file File:Farey diagram circle packing 6.png. You also created a version showing the order 4 Farey sequence of the real line... but numbered it incorrectly as if it was the order 5 version! I've submitted a rename request; once completed I'll upload a .svg version of the order 4 Farey diagram of the real line too. Page 20 of Hatcher has a diagram showing the vertices of the graph labelled with the corresponding rational numbers. Neuroxic (talk) 14:07, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
