Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hello, I edited your map depicting Luis Vaez de Torres' journey.

It is not known what Torres did, and where did he go (if anywhere), after reaching Manila. There were Portuguese people in Japan at that time, so we can't rule out that Torres went to Japan - but we don't know that.

Hey, I'm not sure if i'm doing this right, but do you have a map of all of Oceania in the style of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Islands#/media/File:MH_-map_A.png

Or possibly maps of each nation of Oceania in that style?

Missing information[edit]

I love your maps! They are amazing! But there is one thing that irritates me on (almost) all your maps: They lack a rangefinder at the bottom! On professional maps, there is always a ruler with distance indication. There is no map in an encyclopedia that lacks this information. When I see your maps of Machu Picchu, Tuamotus, Melanesia, Bismarck Archipelago, Tripolitania, Jerash, Austral Islands, etc etc, they all lack an opportunity to find out the size and distance of the map. Is it 500 meters, 5 kilometers or 50 kilometers across? We who look at the map do not get it. And that's a basic educational part of a map. But still - your maps are excellent in other respects and with a little extra work I can find out for myself how big the area is, for example over Machu Picchu. / Best regards --Justeraren (talk) 21:49, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
