Hello, Historiographer~commonswiki!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:Korea and near.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

INCONSISTENCY[edit]

Before restarting to introduce your point of View (that is not shared by many : [1]), please justify any modification that would introduce a reason to have 3 identical image description but with 2 different results :

File:Mongol Empire map.gif, (your "nopov" version of the map File:Mongol Empire map 2.gif), and File:Mongol Empire map 3.gif. Just the same for any other image you choose to force your point of view such as File:Mongola 1500 AD.jpg created to force a pov (it has been detected on French wikipedia, who don't care much of Korean, or Mongolian superiority). ... And don't tell you are not protecting your pov : you work only on the protection of the korean stuff ... Loreleil (talk) 20:38, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"you work only on the protection of the korean stuff"?. Don't excessively intrude my edits. I think you don't profoundly know about East Asian history, but simply. Your source just represent to Korean orientalism of westerners. It is not true that korea was not ruled by Mongolians, just became tributary. In short, China and Central Asian states annexed by Mongolian, but Korea was not, they maintained themselves political structures. I hope you should not biased against my edits, thanks.--Historiographer (talk) 11:08, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As explained by many users here : [2] if you want to introduce a pov  : Use your own image (import with an OTHER name) and do not pov push on others imageS... Loreleil (talk) 14:04, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely, it is just production of inducing acts some person to agree your asserts, not represent all users. Do you understand my words?--Historiographer (talk) 11:02, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
how do you explain that you have the same troubles in other projets of the WMF ? Loreleil (talk) 20:35, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did you consider to examine an external point of view instead of a nationalist-centered one ? I think that you have troubles to
  1. Apply rules of commons
  2. Analyse the problem of pov by lack of ability to view the problem from a neutral point of view.
This analysis is based on the elements seen here, the absence of any possible discussion, and those found in your discussion page in en:user talk:Historiographer
And please stop any abuse of language.
Loreleil (talk) 16:45, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not abuse of language to you. You just assert your own historiography, and opinion is biased. Your edits' tendency is almost against me, and always stand up for Mongolian point.--Historiographer (talk) 02:49, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So who are you talking to when refering to "excessive egocentrism", and "Your mongol-wing deviationism" Loreleil (talk) 08:39, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Since 2005 or 2006 images used and accepted as it in several wiki. If you change it without their consent = pov pushing against the use in those wiki => not possible, and as explained by several : import them under a different name and suggest to those wiki the new images... Loreleil (talk) 07:50, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Your ideas are too extreme against me. If I say that, however, you saying to me and the other person that is only my fault like this. You just denouncing to me as a authority person. I feel the same way. Old or first versions no better than New or edit that, anytime, and unconditionally.--Historiographer (talk) 09:04, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No extremism against you: tried several times to ask you to find an acceptable way to import your image without having an incontrollable impact on all the Wikipedia's project. Indeed, when modifying something on commons you impact all projects while they don't have any control on it. You have to consider yourself why you don't want to accept a suitable way to do what you want without forcing wikipedia's project to accept your modification. Those problematic elements were initially explained over Wiki-fr on a talk page by an english user that explained that the maps were being modified and induce that the wiki-fr was no longer having the proper map that suits the description. In order to avoid that, we (as a group) reverted the modification on the image since it was not only impacting wiki-fr (that was using the map for over 3 years without your modifications) but also Wiki-en (that was using the same map without your modifications and with an article describing something not similar as the map you uploaded) => inconsistency introduced without the consent of those wikipedia and also on over 10 projects that are using those maps prior to your modification. As you recognize, this element is source of pov-pushing (either adding or removing Korea from the empire) and so since you're modifying directly the maps you introduce a pov-pushing that is enforced in over 10 wikipedia project without their consent, and probably against their will (since I think that you introduce a new point of view that is not really share but that is an other problem that will no longer be problematic while introducing your pov through new image). Loreleil (talk) 10:03, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Loreleil, your insistence is why we should not introduce your favored map (the wrong map) to the 10 different Wikipedias. The wrong map gives readers false info and damages the Wikipedia's reputation. The original map has serious incorrect information about the definition of the empire, and assault years to Korea. There were no many people who agree with your POV on Village Pump.--Historiographer (talk) 01:14, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As explained not only by me, but by at least 3 other people in the village pump the most decent way to handle POV problematic is not to act as a cuckoo in the nest, but adding new image and then using those where you need. This is the only way to behave RATIONALLY. There is no Wrong or Right map contrary to your "says" : there is a map that one dislike, a map that the other dislike. Putting one over the other is not a proper way as explained because in fact you're pushing in one unique way through all the wikipedias. As requested : take a deep breath and analyse the problem and you will see that since 3 months you should have taken some distance... Loreleil (talk) 05:48, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop making reverts until discussion has been finished![edit]

Hello Historiographer,

  1. regarding your edits here and here: Please stop making edits which can only be interpreted as vandalism. Commons is a mulitlingual project; Deleting informations in other language it not(!) aim of wp-commons. I also gave you in my comments information, that I already wrote you on an discussion page ([3], [4]), so please don't ignore those messages anymore!!
  2. regarding your edit here: Why do you think we have discussion pages? I already wrote you there, but you didn't answer for more than 3 days, so I reverted your edit (click). Now, its your turn do make your proposal on the discussion page.
  3. regarding your edits here, here, here: Due to that I'm disagreeing with the content of your inputed information I also would appreciate if you could explain your edit(s) on the discussion pages there.

Please, even if you still think that you are right, remember that even User:Caspian Blue told you twice doing so (1, 2). Thank you. --Valentim (talk) 12:18, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I'm not going to talk about File-pages-content on your personal discussion page here, only on the regaring file discussion pages.

A second time[edit]

Hello Historiographer, I would appreciate if you could state here why you are trying to delete description information. Thank you. --Valentim (talk) 22:46, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Valentim and Elmor[edit]

Hi, since you're concerned about Valentim (talk · contribs) and Elmor (talk · contribs)'s edit warring for their POV pushing campaign, could you engage in discussion at File talk:FISHERMAN.jpg and File talk:Dokdo 080628.jpg? I'm currently having a difficulty for giving the necessary time to refute the nonsenses (in other words, currently busy in real life), so I think more people gather to discuss, quicker consensus can be established. You have been long enough to know all situation regarding the matter, your assessment would have be greatly helpful to cope with the difficult situation. Thanks.--Caspian blue 15:33, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Valentim (talk · contribs) and Elmor (talk · contribs)'s edit is the products of anti-Korean tendency. They just biased and pushing against Korean files and articles.--Historiographer (talk) 01:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Maps of Mongol empire[edit]

Commons is not a playground for POV pushing, especially on highly used maps. If you believe that any of those images are incorrect or misleading please fill deletion request with your arguments asking to delete versions where Korea is part of Mongols empire. Any other your action related to the subject will be treated as continuity of vandalism and your ability to contribute to Commons may be restricted. Thank you --Justass (talk) 01:04, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No. the claim that Korea was part of Mongol empire a wrong result to translate written by Chinese or Japanese with their intentional POV from 19th century. "File:Mongol Empire map 2.gif" the assault years of Mongols invasions of Korea by region is completely false. Mongol did not take Korean territory stage by stage. They repeated to attack and to withdraw Korea at once over seventh times.
Mongol invaded Korea and made it as a tributary state, not took the territory. Vietnam and Indonesia also became tributary states of Mongol, but why their land are not in the map? How is that Korea only become a land of Mongol? The wrong map is full of false and inconsistent info and POV.
"Mongolia 1500 AD.jpg" is also a completely false map with inconsistent years. In 1500s, China already became independent from Mongol and established Ming Dynasty, and Korea, Joseon Dynasty was established. Two countries had not relation to Mongol because Mongol fleed to their original land after Chinese people attacked them. But the map included false years and false informations. You only know very part of the history. Please do not see East Asian history from Western View with false informations.
You told me requesting a deletion, but in a past deletion discussion, too many Mongolian nationalists did not want to fix false info or delete it for their nationalistic pride. The false map still is in Commons and provides false info. So fixing the wrong info in the map comes first. Thanks.--Historiographer (talk) 03:10, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As you are a en-wp editor contributing to korean related articles you know very well why your edits are inappropriate. If not you may open a discussion on file discussion page whenever you want. Despite that noone will hinder you to download your version of that file to a seperate file with a proper filename and a proper discription. --Valentim (talk) 15:29, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Projection used for History of Korea-410.png?[edit]

Hello, I intend to create a SVG version of History of Korea-410.png and some other Korean maps that seem to use the same base map. But I would need to know which projection was used for the base map. I tried the Lambert Conformal Conic but it did not fit completely. Could you please let me know which one was used to create History of Korea-410.png? Thank you in advance!--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 06:07, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
