Transferring Images[edit]

For future reference, when transferring images from Wikipedia to the Commons, it is better to use Commonshelper ([1]) as it transfers all of the necessary information. I hope that's helpful. Cheers. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:08, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the nice note. Any word back from Ottulich on the OTRS email? --Skeezix1000 (talk) 17:28, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I gave him the e-mail and information of the OTRS email, I did not hear back from him. Don't know if he sent it in. Cheers!--Harfang (talk) 17:28, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't hear anything from him soon, you should send him a polite reminder. If he does not email OTRS with the necessary permission, the image will eventually be deleted. Good luck. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 17:03, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I just checked English wikipedia, and it looks like you downloaded the image and uploaded it to Commons yourself; luckily the original image is still on English wikipedia. You shouldn't copy images to Commons in this way, because it severs the "paper trail" of where the image came from. In the future, please use a utility like Commonshelper to move images, so the history of the file is retained. I will move the image properly and have the one you uploaded deleted; I'll upload the new image as File:Downtown Carencro, Louisiana.jpg so you can see what it looks like. -Gump Stump (talk) 21:57, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. I have been doing it that way recently. Did not know how to transfer it until lately. Thank you for the information!--Harfang (talk) 21:36, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Files you uploaded may be deleted[edit]

The files listed below, which you uploaded, have been tagged {{OTRS pending}} for more than 30 days. This tag indicates that an email setting out permission to use the file was sent to the OTRS team. Unfortunately, we cannot find any record that such an email has been received, and accordingly the file remains without permission. Unless the OTRS team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have not sent the permission, please send it to "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org" now. Please quote the file name in your email. If you have, please leave a message at the OTRS noticeboard, quoting the file name, so that a volunteer can follow this up. Alternatively, you can contact an OTRS volunteer directly. Please note that this message is being left by an automated bot, whose operator is not an OTRS volunteer, therefore please do not send this information to me, as it will not save your images from deletion. Thanks for your time! Please help translate this message! HersfoldOTRSBot(talk/opt out) 05:12, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GTW picture[edit]

The photograph with file name GTlocomotive.PNG you have captioned on the Grand Trunk Western Railroad article as being taken in 2010 I believe to be mistaken. GTW GP38AC 5801 built in 1971 went to Central Vermont then returned to GTW and was renumbered as 4998. There are a couple of physical things as well. The locomotive has its ACI lable (from the 1970s) and the snow awning behind the cab. The locomotive was photographed in 1987 without either of them. Also there are no ditch headlights on this locomotive which have been federally mandated since 1990. Lastly the locomotive mu'ed behind 5801 appears to be one of the Rock Island locomotives GTW aquired about the time Rock Island folded in 1980. As these items make the date incorrect I'm removing the date and location on the page. Please make sure you credit or have permission for any outside work.

I worked for the Central Vermont Railroad during the 1980s. I took a lot of pictures between St. Albans, Vermont and New London, Connecticut. I found some of these old pictures, but memory failed me to where I had taken the locomotive picture. But you have done a good job in refreshing my memory. Thank you!--Harfang (talk) 03:47, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fichier image[edit]

Salut,
As-tu encore le fichier source de File:Province of Quebec 1774.gif. J'aimerais bien le traduire en français. Merci! — Riba (talk) 18:32, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

--ThoMiCroN (d/t) 20:21, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quel est le drapeau du Cap-Breton[edit]

Vous avez placé un drapeau à le Portail:Cap-Breton et merci. Mais je ne reconnais pas le drapeau, et je suis curieux si vous pouvez explique ce que c'est.

Thank you for uploading images from Wikipedia to Commons. However, the file you uploaded, File:NewOrleansPanoramic.jpg appears to be a scaled down version of the version on Wikipedia. Please reupload the full version of the image. You can then tag the scaled down version with {{duplicate}} to have it deleted. Consider using CommonsHelper to provide the correct image description and licensing tags. Thank you,

File:Group BMR, Breakeyville store.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
