Wie schnell sind Sie?[edit]

Hallo Furfur, Ich bezweifle, dass Sie ein Deutsch sind. das ist, weil du unglaublich schnell mit indischen Maps sind. Thank you! I have always liked German but I was never able to learn it. Yes! you are damn fast with those maps. the only thing I wanted you to correct is that you should place National Democratic Alliance a little above so that it is above UPA just as per the seats and vote share and I would like you to create a English version with no such thing as third front (which sholud now come under other parties). Once again That's really amazing work. -Khushank94 (talk) 19:36, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Khushank94, well, even in good old Germany there are some people interested in the Indian state of affairs ... I could provide an English language map (or do you prefer another language ? Since I uploaded the file in svg format you can easily translate it by yourself to any other language using svg translate).
Why do you think that I should not use the term "Third Front" ? Is it not appropriate in this context ? The ordering UPA - NDA - Third Front should not imply any priority but I can change the order. --Furfur (talk) 13:06, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's true as I am interested with Deutschland. I am happy to see this interest.
thanks for the link but really that to heavy for me to work on. the best i could do is [File:16th Lok Sabha.svg].
the third front is no longer relevant and especially Biju janata dal, JD(S),JD(U) are not counted in third front.

Hope you keep your interest alive.-Khushank94 (talk) 10:12, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have now removed the Third Front. Just try to use svg translate !
It is really simple ! This is a tool that translates all the text embedded in an svg file. You can just leave open the fields for the text that you don't want to translate (of course you don't have to translate all the numbers of the constituencies) and this text will remain unchanged. Scroll down the page and there you will find the text that needs translation. Fill in your translation, choose your language and click "submit translation" and the file will be created, that's it ! (Afterwards you have to upload the 10 MB file ... , you may first have a look at it in your browser ...). You can easily translate the file to all the major languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali (of course there you would have to translate also the numbers ...), etc., ... --Furfur (talk) 11:02, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
yes, I tried the translate tool and it was very good. but in the mean time i found something like this. I used it and by spending a lot of time I made this (probably you will understand what I wanted by the source). but I was not able to reach anywhere and here to ask that can you help in any way. i have the successful html code if you need it for reference -Khushank94 (talk) 17:28, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that's a fairly nice tool. Meanwhile a had a short discussion about the svg file. You can also translate it using SVG <switch> elements as explained on this page.

Hello Furfur! I request you to make corrections in this file. Please correct 1, 2, 19 number constituency (gradually Bargarh, Sundargarh and Puri) in Odisha. Where Bharatiya Janata Party in Sundargarh and Biju Janata Dal in Bargarh, Puri. Thank you!--Prateek Malviyatalk 05:32, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Prateek Malviya, you are absolutely right. I uploaded the corrected file. Thanks for notifying ! --Furfur (talk) 08:25, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(I have seen that you have created a Hindi png version of the file. You could also directly and easily translate the svg file into a Hindi svg file using svg translate)

India Parliament[edit]

I have embedded the English translation in the file using the <switch> element, but for whatever reason it seems to default to English instead of German. I did not delete the original German. I will re-upload the heavily optimised file and see if I can get the English to be available as an alternate translation instead of appearing in place of the German (which it should do anyway). NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 21:20, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've uploaded a new version where the default is English, but the German translation is available using the "lang" parameter, as shown with this thumbnail. It's not ideal (I would prefer to have the default as German) but it seems as if whenever the "en" language is defined it defaults to that regardless. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 21:52, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is no such thing as a "default" language ! Wikipedia is a *multilingual* project ! I am a little bit annoyed by this ! Please upload a copy. Hopefully this is clear enough ! --Furfur (talk) 22:03, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, sorry that was a bit harsh, maybe I misunderstood you, I saw only an English language version. What is this switch tag all about ? Does it mean that the svg is automatically translated ? I have never seen this working with svg files. --Furfur (talk) 22:12, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's okay, I don't want you to think I'm trying to erase the German version! Like I said, the software seems to change it to English if the "en" tag is defined, regardless of whether of the default one in the file is German or anything else. It would be much better, given that it was originally a German file, to have the default as German, but I don't think the software at the moment allows for that. Do you know how to file a Bugzilla report? I don't, but I think that's how to get it fixed.
Anyway, if you click on the thumbnail on this page, it should show you the German version. If it doesn't then I need to check things, but when I click it it does change on my computer at least! I think this method of translation is a relatively new thing but it's quite easy to use, hopefully! I've tidied up the file so that it should be easy to add new translations with a text editor.
On other examples, it has a drop-down menu to show the various languages but I'm not sure how to enable that. I'm about to upload another version that's marginally smaller again and with the text moved to the top, so maybe that will make the dropdown appear. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 22:49, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The drop-down now appears on the page. The only thing I've translated into Spanish is "Communist Parties" to test it, so that's why it's available on the drop-down along with the German. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 22:55, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I did not know this possibility of automatic translation and only saw the English text but now it appears to work. Are there multiple languages possible ? I nevertheless switched again to the png file in the German article since I think that it is more suitable in this context. It is still much smaller, loads quicker and when you are clicking on the preview it expands to a size that is more suitable than when clicking on the svg file (at least in my Browser). The disadvantage of the smaller svg file is that I cannot edit it using Adobe Illustrator any longer and I am not used to working with Inkscape. However, I think that all bug corrections have already been done. --Furfur (talk) 23:18, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the speed of the loading can't really be helped because of the detail of the map.
I'm slightly worried that the file won't load in Illustrator though. Does it give you any particular error? NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 23:29, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In my experience this is not so unusual. I can't edit quite a few Inkscape svg files with AI because an "unknown error occurred". On the other hand I never experienced that Inkscape could not open an Illustrator svg file. However, I find working with IS unconfortable (this X11 emulation, etc., it's still too much a pre-release version ... --Furfur (talk) 23:39, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
