Fry, back in 2013, an editor changed this file, both the color and the geometry, with no explanation. The color had been explained in this 2009 edit/upload by Zscout. The editor reverted back to Zscout's version just before that; but Zscout and others had corrected the geometry and color. You uploaded a new version with rose but same math as previous.

There the color sat, incorrect, until Lzhl corrected it April 9. However, this user did not explain the change, so I don't wonder that you reverted it.

On April 12, the user again changed the file, this time with much more explanation, suggested discussion on Talk, and placed an explanation there. You reverted and made no explanation or attempt to discuss. Because this is a highly-used image, that eventually brought attention and the page has been protected. In fact, the document Lzh1 pointed to was enough, carefully reviewed, to suggest that he was right, but a quick review of the file history made this completely obvious. You compounded an old error of your own, back in 2013, by blind-reverting Lzh1 when he tried to fix it.

I have explained to him that how he handled this led to a problem, but you also did not handle this well. You reverted him, twice, and made no attempt to discuss. You did not respond on the Talk page. It will now waste administrator time to fix the image.

Please be more careful before reverting more than once. I could see an argument for your going ahead and making that second revert, but you were then derelict in not making any effort to understand and seek consensus.

Thanks. --Abd (talk) 03:56, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Road signs in Sri Lanka

I requesting you, if you can please create Sri Lanka Road sign svg images. Below is the the link of The Motor Traffic Act of Sri Lanka. There are all road signs in that.

Thank you, I will upload those signs in the future, though it will probably be a few weeks from now. Fry1989 eh? 16:51, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

SVG road signs of Indonesia

Hi, Fry1989

I am still busy working on Philippine road sign SVG, but, I want you to help upload SVG road signs of Indonesia, because they are mostly PNG. Indonesian road signs incorporate European and American sign elements (The yellow diamond warning road signs in Indonesia is permitted as a warning sign shape (Type B) by the Vienna Convention. All the other signs incorporate European elements. Indonesian new road sign ideograms are mostly taken from the Standard Highway Signs drawings for the US MUTCD, with a few exceptions.).Also, I will provide you a source, so, you will know the official diagrams for the SVG road signs of Indonesia.

Permenhub 13/2014 (PDF) by the Ministry of Transportation (Indonesia)

You may save a copy of the PDF file, so, you can copy the images as PNG files to be converted to SVG by bitmap tracing (via Inkscape) before uploading.--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 12:00, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

I will upload the Indonesian road signs, but it will be a while. Thank you. Fry1989 eh? 16:52, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
I will keep a log for those signs that you will upload soon. I hope that you will convert all of those Indonesian road sign PNG diagrams on Category:Diagrams of road signs of Indonesia to SVG's, that you may categorize by type (Warning, Prohibitory, Mandatory, Information, and Temporary). I tagged that category for cleanup (PNG to SVG). You may now work on retracing those PNGs or recreating those bitmap road sign diagrams (especially all prohibitory signs (excluding prohibitory signs 2a1-Road closed and 2a2-No entry, and all height, width, length, and weight restriction signs (Prohibitory signs 2d1-2d12), that uses the red circle with a red slash, that appears at most prohibitory road signs in most countries) out of components of other SVG road sign diagrams in the Commons or create them by yourself, and saving them as SVG.

I can help clean up all of those PNG Indonesian road sign diagrams and recreate some out of the official diagrams shown at the Permenhub 13/2014 (PDF) by the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia , while I create more Philippine road sign diagrams by myself out of the signs on the current Road Signs and Pavement Markings Manual by the Department of Public Works and Highways. I look forward that you will clean up all of those Indonesian road sign diagrams and convert all of them as high-quality SVG's.--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 16:00, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

I will start work on the Philippine signs later today. When I am done with them, I'll start on Indonesia next. How does that sound? Fry1989 eh? 17:11, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
It seems all right. And I hope you will clean up all of those PNG Indonesian road sign diagrams, and create more Sri Lankan road signs, as per the request above this topic.--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 09:48, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
I am working on the regulatory signs in the Philippines for now. Then I will get to the warning signs and so forth. When I am done with the Philippines, I will do Indonesia and then Sri Lanka. Fry1989 eh? 17:35, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for the late response, but I started uploading Indonesian road signs diagrams, with 4 being uploaded. I am starting it slowly, as there is still a backlog involving Philippine road signs.--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 11:23, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
TagaSanPedroAko, I am sorry but I haven't had much energy or focus lately. I still want to do these signs, I just have been very very slow. Fry1989 eh? 17:23, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Fry1989 We are both slow on working with this. We are on the same boat as you.--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 04:42, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Rounded equilateral triangle

Yes... AnonMoos (talk) 13:43, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

It's now at File:W series triangle.svg (sorry for delay, but I was semi-offline on Thursday and Friday). By the way, 600 is the length of a side of the enclosing triangle, not the width of the rounded (red) triangle... AnonMoos (talk) 05:05, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
File:W series triangle.svg doesn't have any layers at all, in the specific sense. There's one path outline which is filled as #ffffff and stroked as #ff0000 with width 28. The native coordinates of this path are centered around (0,0), so there's also a translate command to pull it into the image frame -- and that's it.
It's not too clear to me that the 9x9 (or 450x450) grid in http://i.imgur.com/mGvVVQY.png has a consistent alignment with the triangle, so I'm not sure that there would be much point for me to add it into the SVG file. Anyway, you can set up a non-rendering drawing grid within Inkscape, right? AnonMoos (talk) 01:53, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
8vWyqmI.png makes it clear that 600 is not the width of the red rounded triangle, but of an unrounded (pointy) triangle outside of (enclosing) the red rounded triangle. The width=600 height=520 measurements on mGvVVQY.png indicate the same thing: the height of a pointy equilateral triangle with sides of 600 is 519.615242 by basic geometry (300*√3), but if the red rounded triangle had width=600, then its height would be 528.91586... Road signs Montenegro and Bosnia

Hi Fry! How are you? I'd like to ask to you a thing: I've made quite all European Countries's road signs, but I can't find a source to find Montenegro and Bosnia-Hercegovina's road signs...can you kindly look at internet if you can find a source which with I can sraw those road signs? Thank you a lot. --Gigillo83 (talk) 13:00, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

@Gigillo83: , I have a copy of the road signs in Bosnia that I can send you in email. It is in PDF format but the signs are not in SVG so they will have to be created. I have not seen one for Montenegro, but I will look again. Fry1989 eh? 16:56, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
Ok, thank you if can send to me that list...I'll chack, with that file, if I'll find something more accurate or, otherwise, I'll draw signs. Please send it to my mail...thank you! You can find address on my Italian discussion page... Thanks!!--Gigillo83 (talk) 21:12, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello. There is a mistake on Hong Kong road sign 105.svg, the bottom right character of that sign should be the same as the bottom right character of Hong Kong road sign 110,that is "崗". Regards.--Hang9417 (talk) 12:01, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Reason for deletion of some logos

Fry, please read COM:TOO, which shows the threshold of originality of logos by country. Some logos are public domain in the United States, but not in their source country, so you must upload the logo in a local wiki. Uploading logos that are only in the US public domain are all copyright violations, and must be speedily deleted. Repeated uploading of copyright violations will result in a block.

Hope this helps.
--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 09:27, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

I am well aware of COM:TOO, I've been working on the threshold of originality on DRs for years. I know what I'm doing. Fry1989 eh? 19:51, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

UK Road signs

I'm motivated to withdraw the recent DR, if you (or the original uploader) is willing to do some legwork, in getting some kind of response from the Department of Transport filed with OTRS.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 00:59, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi, and RCAF roundels/insignia

Hello there. Thank you for your efforts in refreshing the RCAF insignia. Sorry to be a bee in a bonnet, but I have reverted your recent changes since the refreshed shape of the maple leaf does not resemble what appears in available literature, including documents about the recent changes to rank insignia (from Sep.); also here and here. The leaf is in essence the same as in the national flag (really only described as 'a maple leaf of the first', and the prior one is a closer match; visual evidence can be inconsistent but this is validated if you observe the VIP Airbus (also here, for example). The leaf shape can be extracted from the Wikipedia version of the flag or vector editions from Government of Canada materials. I would appreciate you providing indication of the documents you mentioned to justify the recent changes; otherwise, based on the above, the prior images should stand. Thanks. Craftwerker (talk) 05:48, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Let me explain something to you. Not only are you changing the maple leaf when you revert the file, you are changing the proportions of the rings and the colours. What you SHOULD have done is ask me for my source on the leaf and asked me to change it to be the same as on the national flag if you disagreed with my source, instead of creating an edit war and changing several other aspects of the image. Fry1989 eh? 18:59, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Excuse me. You should have thought of that when updating the images in the first place with minimal commentary, e.g., by updating the image description. Did you not think someone would notice? As you have not provided any source to justify the changes - since you appear to have not created any of the originals, only copies of them - I will restore the prior versions and/or fix them on my own. Thanks. Craftwerker (talk) 20:00, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Don't "excuse me" anything! You are the one causing trouble here, reverting and inadvertently altering other parts of the image, and I DO have sources I just don't like you causing problems which is exactly what you're doing and am therefore giving you a rough ride. You could have asked instead of edit warring, you chose not to. I altered the proportions, colours, and the maple leaf as according to the RCAF Decals that are downloadable in PDF format. Now if you don't like that, you can ASK me to change the maple leaf to be the same as on the national flag, but if you keep reverting and changing the colours and proportions I will not allow that. Fry1989 eh? 20:08, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Whatever. The differences in widths and colours, particularly for images in place for several years, does not visually compare to a back-ass leaf in the centre. You only mention a decal sheet, which could have been done at the onset, while other links above indicate something different. Don't bother: I will not and needn't ask; I will do myself. Thanks. Craftwerker (talk) 20:14, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
If you can't even ask a simple "would you change the leaf to be like the national flag?", I certainly don't trust you to fix it yourself. I will upload a corrected version with the same maple leaf as the national flag within the hour. Fry1989 eh? 20:17, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Logical fallacies aside, if you were attentive and responsive enough at the onset, this would not be needed. We will see if it passes muster, since your work in this regard hasn't yet. Thanks. Craftwerker (talk) 20:21, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
My work, unlike your attitude, is impeccable. Fry1989 eh? 21:01, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Fry1989, why did you remove the "No license tag" from File:Flag of wallonia.svg? The file does not have a copyright license tag. —RP88 (talk) 00:32, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Never mind, the point is moot — someone else has re-added the "no license tag" warning. —RP88 (talk) 03:13, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
I removed it because I considered it a copy of File:Flag of Wallonia.svg. I now see they are two different images. Fry1989 eh? 19:01, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

NZ flag

you stole my idea and put it under your name 1st you comment and question my input then you steal it and put it under your name https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kyle_Lockwood%27s_New_Zealand_Flag_%28alt_1%29.svg

you dam well know i made the black and green alt from Kyle Lockwood's flag, and is still Kyle Lockwood's flag rights, but i made the two colour alt (March 2014) left corner black and green versions

because you have full wiki rights you moved it all to claim it for yourself

what do you have to say about this?? im interested to know

this constitutes serious misconduct

Kevymtnz

The flag is Kyle Lockwood's design, all I did was upload the alternative colour choices that have been available and popular on the web for several years now as derivatives of Kyle's flag. You hold no rights to it, and your accusation that I "stole it" from you is absolutely ridiculous. Fry1989 eh? 16:33, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

AN/U

Just a note that there is a AN/U, while you haven't been named by Echando una mano it does indirectly involve you with the new upload. Bidgee (talk) 09:25, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

That's not fully specified (how wide horizontally are each of the arrowheads?), and I'm not sure I fully understand all the measurements that are there (what exactly does the "32" vertical measurement align with?). AnonMoos (talk) 21:14, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

double-headed arrow

Sorry I didn't notice your August 2 comment (it kind of got lost amid the deletion nominations on my user talk page), but "XLzVX99.jpg" doesn't provide any new information on the arrow beyond what was in "U8YKVUY.jpg" -- still nothing on the horizontal width of the main part of each arrowhead... AnonMoos (talk) 13:04, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Ok, with the missing number I'll probably take a stab at making an SVG in the next day or two. Not sure why the Australians are less geometrically informative than the Philippinos... -- AnonMoos (talk) 23:27, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Sorry I didn't get around to this before (it was partly because my glasses broke on Tuesday), but now I'm looking at U8YKVUY.jpg and realizing that I really don't know what "r.3" means. If it means "radius of curve equals 0.3", then the curve would be barely visible at that resolution and the arrowhead corner would not look like what's shown on the diagram (much thinner and sharper). If it means "radius of curve equals 3.0" then I don't think it would look like what's shown either, and in fact it could well be geometrically impossible. Maybe it means that the "diameter of curve equals 3.0", but that's a pure guess on my part. I don't go reading sign specification manuals for fun, and my only exposure to the Philippines manual was when I did File:W series triangle.svg, but that was a masterpiece of clarity compared to the Australian thing. AnonMoos (talk) 15:37, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Latest (arrow and triangle)

Sorry I didn't get around to this, but real-life issues have given me limited time on-line during the past week, and over the last 24 hrs I've been dealing with Kephir. Will try to get around to it within next few days... AnonMoos (talk) 20:55, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for delay, but it's at File:Triangle and arrow for Yield Ahead sign.svg (you can overwrite it with the finished sign and rename it as appropriate if you want). I gave up on the Australian double-headed arrow as a bad job long ago ... -- AnonMoos (talk) 07:27, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Sources for some road signs

Where is your source for the files in this "Category: Diagrams of old road signs of the Philippines" in an official cpacaity? You may have seen pictures maybe of it on a highway but I'd just like to make it clear that the standardised signs of the DPWH are rarely followed. So there are at present, a large number of non-standard signs proliferating the major roads of the Philippines but they have never been official signs adopted by the DPWH. Regards. --WikiEditor50 (talk) 17:38, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

I have no official source for those signs other than photographs. Fry1989 eh? 17:41, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Yet, I have not been back to Commons yesterday because of browser issues (I get an error on Chrome when opening Commons), but, my point is that only the current road signs manual by the Department of Public Works and Highways (downloadable PDF, but low quality) or other photos in Commons can be used. There are photos of Philippine road signs that mostly follow the national standard, mostly signs on national highways (some signs are of old design, or nonstandard, as in case of several local governments that place signs on the right-of-way) and some privately maintained roads (including toll roads, but some signs are of old design or nonstandard). Actually, some of the non-standard road signs WikiEditor50 are actually road signs used by the DPWH before 2004 or 2012. I think that WikiEditor50 can obtain a scan of the old road sign manuals in PDF format directly from the DPWH, if they can provide one with their permission, redraw the sign images as SVG, and upload it here, or send the scannned PDF's to you, Fry1989, to be redrawn as SVG by you. I have photos of some old road signs (e.g. red and yellow warning road signs, like the ones used in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Greece, Nigeria, South Korea, and Cuba), but I have no photo uploaded yet.--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 13:37, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

One flag renominated

Please don't be offended, but based on the lack of source and the comment that one of those flags was (c) and "no one can use this" seems in conflict with Commons licensing. Also no source of anything was provided. I won't be offended at all if this one is closed "kept" but I do think that top line needs resolution. See Commons:Deletion requests/File:Spiguinea.jpg. Thank you for all your hard work for Commons! Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:13, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Look, I know you can draw. So can I. So can anyone who is creating the new flags. If one need a template - he will simply remove the badge from the existent flag and will get it. --Kwasura (talk) 22:11, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
It is not your fault that a troll created this mess, but you have to compromise part way. Please stop edit warring an take a break. Fry1989 eh? 23:20, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Mate, you need to admit that I put a lot of effort in this category. It became my baby. And I am still working on it. Here are the flags that I am currently working on. How many pages did I read? How many letters did I wrote? How many photographs did I found? How many measurements did I made before I created my template. But I can only use it for some flags (some have different proportions of the swastika). So now, when some telling me something about the «base flag» or the «template» and advocating the incorrect (white border is missing for example) file as such, I just can't swallow it. My best answer is: take mine. Use the one I created. Remove the badge and use. But don't trash the category with the fictions. Sincerely, --Kwasura (talk) 00:51, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi, please have a look to Category:Media without a license: needs history check and fix the rest of the images. Thx. --JuTa 07:27, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

I wanted to get the unDR done first. I'll work on re-licensing them today. Fry1989 eh? 20:21, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

The Aboriginal Flag debate has reared it's head once more.

To be honest it is getting old. Thought you'd want to know, as you have always been involved in this discussion. The issue is on here now. --SuperJew (talk) 22:08, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Greetings! Any idea what kind of flag is this? Certainly not the Naval Ensign. Pictures speak for itself. Sailors holding ensign and jack. Sincerely --Kwasura (talk) 05:26, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

IDK what to say. It is reported on FOTW which is considered very reliable, but I haven't checked that website out in a long time and they appear to have changed it to now report the national flag as the naval ensign. More research may be required to see if it ever existed, but your video is official proof of the national flag being used now. Fry1989 eh? 15:36, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
There are too many guesses in the FOTW. Not all reported flags are ever existed. I am sure that the reference is need to be given on the flags uploaded to the Commons, but the FOTW itself is not the reference. --Kwasura (talk) 00:05, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Category:Military flags of Saudi Arabia

Also there is not need do depict the back side of the flag by default. People will think it is a front side. And of course, there is no white border of the corner. Shell we make some changes? Sincerely, --Kwasura (talk) 06:14, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Because Arabic is read from right to left, technically they are depicting the front. I agree on the fimbriation, but I only work in SVG. Fry1989 eh? 15:36, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
OK, but Saudis are not the only Arabs. There are also Jordanians, Egyptians and others. By default flag is being depicted with the pole on the left. So whatever is to the right from the pole is the front of the flag. If there will be a problem with the Arabs, we can create both sides of the same flag for them to use in it Arabic Wikipedia if they want.--Kwasura (talk) 23:58, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
Those flags do not have Arabic writing on them. That complicates things and makes the canton on Saudi ensigns in the upper right corner. I'm not disagreeing with you that it's preferable to have them all the same, I just don't know if that is right for us to decide. In any case, it's not that I don't want to but, I don't know how to edit raster images like that. I am sorry but I am not of much help, if I tried to flip them around they would be backwards. Fry1989 eh? 00:06, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Howdy, Fry-Fry. Just wanted to let you know that the "Great Seal of Canada" is now on Commons in PNG form (if you'd like to make an SVG version of that, that'd be much appreciated). Since you're Canadian, I'd thought you'd have an interest in it, so I'm letting you know. Cheers. Illegitimate Barrister 09:23, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

I am glad to see it on Commons, thank you. However I am not capable of making an SVG :( Fry1989 eh? 19:45, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
Okay, that's alright, thanks for replying. There's a debate going on over at the Canada talk page on Wikipedia over whether or not to feature the image on the Canada article. If you could spare a few minutes of your time and vote in favor of inclusion, that'd be much appreciated. The deletionists seem to be gaining the upper hand at the moment, so please do make haste! Best regards, Illegitimate Barrister 20:31, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
Oh, and I just uploaded the Canadian flag proclamation from 1965 to Commons as well. It just entered Public Domain this year. Cheers! Illegitimate Barrister 11:46, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I am a contractor working on a government website. We have used 28 Agency Seal SVG files on our site. Thank you for updating the Environmental Protection Agency seal.

While using the EPA seal .svg on the government website in question, I noticed a slight rendering problem in Internet Explorer (Firefox and Chrome rendered normally). It appears the SVG is missing the "viewBox" attribute in the <svg> tag. I implemented the following change on our site, which corrected the rendering problem. I would appreciate it if you would consider including this change in the Commons copy as well.

I added the following line (terminated by a UNIX newline character) at line 15 of Environmental_Protection_Agency_logo.svg: viewBox="0 0 796.21313 804"

Here is a copy of my revised file: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Environmental_Protection_Agency_logo_(revised).svg

Thanks!

Thank you, I have uploaded your corrected file. Fry1989 eh? 22:46, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello, that seal seems to be missing a "w" at the "Youngstown" part. Can you fix it? Thanks, Poké95 00:41, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

I am sorry, I don't even remember how I made the seal, it was so long ago. But I'm glad someone else was able to fix it. Fry1989 eh? 17:50, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello Could you give a hand? I don't understard the reason why the licence it is not accepted. I'm not an expert, problably it could be because there is a drawing in the article, but this coat as others are widely reproduced and it is not an exact copy. It is not a original design created in the artcicle, it can see: [3] [4] [5]. Thanks --Heralder (talk) 18:24, 26 May 2016 (UTC) File:Text no copy violation COA Linares.png

Suomen poliisin miekkatunnus.svg

Hi, in the file:Suomen poliisin miekkatunnus.svg should be white colour (with blue lines), not transparency. --85.76.181.39 23:49, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Duplicate rationale

Hello Fry1989, firstly thanks you for your work :), secondly in the future when you nominate a file for deletion with the rationale "duplicate, replaced by svg... ", and that the nominate file is old (more than a few months), it will be good that or you create a redirect after the file is deleted or you ask to the closing nominator to create it after he have deleted the file. In the purpose, I'm sure you understood it, to not take the risk to broke potentials hotlinks. This is not a big work, and it is written in our policies. Of course this is normally the job of the closing administrator, but I don't think this is currently always done in the facts. I hope we work in a spirit of collaboration to improve Commons. California road signs

I am working on uploading road signs used in California. However, work is slow, and also, I am semi-active on Commons. Your help is appreciated.

Some sources that can help you in creating diagrams of California road signs (all from California Department of Transportation (Caltrans))

Regards,
--TagaSanPedroAko(Let's talk/Usap tayo) 15:53, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

@TagaSanPedroAko: , I just got home from a vacation. I have a lot of work with the SADC road signs to still go, but I will look at the California ones as well. Fry1989 eh? 23:01, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello,

You reverted me on File:Naval Ensign of Morocco.svg and File:Civil Ensign of Morocco.svg. Your drawing of crown (with mapple leaves) isn't suitable to non-european countries. Show this photo to see the crowns on the royal moroccan flag in the real life. Regards, Bzh-99 (talk) 11:52, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I have several photos with the European style crowns on the ensigns. I am currently on vacation, I will show you them on Friday when I have returned home. Fry1989 eh? 21:14, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
@Bzh-99: , these are the sources I used when I designed the crowns; [6], [7], [8]. Fry1989 eh? 22:59, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
OK, but it's only for the one crown flag. Is it the same thing with the four crowns flag ? - Bzh-99 (talk) 09:01, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
I do not have any photos for the Naval Ensign, but I assumed they use the same design of crowns. Fry1989 eh? 17:11, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
Not on my photo (see above). - Bzh-99 (talk) 19:31, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for all your work here. Mediatus (talk) 20:34, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

@Mediatus: , thank you very much as well. I'm sorry, I did not see this before. You do so much work too. Fry1989 eh? 17:09, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

What's the rationale for these being in the public domain? The country-specific license tags do not list any reasons and there is no indication of their copyright status in the United States. Jolly Janner (talk) 00:38, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Oh of course you would come bother me in revenge. Go away. Fry1989 eh? 00:39, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
I too wonder why those SVG files have different country-specific copyright tags. Nah, atleast they are in the public domain in its source country, South Africa (And most of them are ineligible for copyright). We should not have a problem with this... Poké95 00:14, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
I'll clarify. These signs are from the original South African traffic signs manual and so the South African license indeed applies making them free from copyright. The South African RTSM was adopted by the original 4 SACU members (and Namibia the 5th after independence) so they were all harmonised between these countries. In the 2000s, the SADC organisation took it further, changing the background from blue to white to be the same as most countries around the world, and issued them in a new document for the SADC community which has 15 members and is a much larger part of African territory. Because international agreements of this sort are usually adopted into native legislation, I believe the licenses for Botswana, Tanzania and Zimbabwe also apply. That is why I have used them as well as the South African license. Fry1989 eh? 00:41, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
Sounds reasonable. It may be worth making a license tag for them, especially since there are hundreds of them. The current tags give little rationale. Jolly Janner (talk) 01:41, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Key missing in Mandatory signs around the world

Hi. In your map File:Mandatory signs around the world.svg, Argentina is painted light green, but there is no key for that color. Greetings. --Angus (talk) 18:55, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

Correction to the Brazilian coat of arms

Hey Fry, I was checking the law that defines the Brazilian coat of arms and I agree with you that it shouldn't have any strokes.
However, I found a few differences that I think should be corrected.
You can find the published version at the official government newspaper here (page 69): http://www.planalto.gov.br/ccivil_03/leis/1970-1979/anexo/Anl5700-71.pdf
The original text of the law can be seen here: http://www.planalto.gov.br/ccivil_03/leis/L5700compilado.htm
Here is a image of the official published coat where I highlighted some changes that I noticed: http://imgur.com/slVPVEl

Here are the corrections that I found on the text:
- Art. 8º A feitura das Armas Nacionais deve obedecer à proporção de 15 (quinze) de altura por 14 (quatorze) de largura, e atender às seguintes disposições:
This says that the proportion of the coat of arms should be 15:14 (height:width).

-III - O todo brocante sôbre uma espada, em pala, empunhada de ouro, guardas de blau, salvo a parte do centro, que é de goles e contendo uma estrêla de prata,[...]
This says that the grip of the sword should be gold (ouro) and the star of the sword should be silver (prata). But according to the official drawing, only the pommel is gold.

In my opinion, the "official" version that is on the government page (http://www2.planalto.gov.br/acervo/simbolos-nacionais/brasao/brasao-da-republica) is wrong and goes against the law.

I hope you consider the changes. Thanks.

Sign Request

Hello Fry1989, I apologize if this is the wrong way to do this (frist time using the talk page), but I was wondering if you would do these signs for me and fix the coloring on the last two? http://imgur.com/a/MFCz3

Hey there, Fry. I've got a question about Commons policy, does COM:OVERWRITE apply to files even if they're outdated or factually inaccurate? – Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 19:53, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

The rule somewhat depends on the reason you want to overwrite the file. As I'm sure you can see, I am overwrite the royal standards right now in order to improve them. That is one valid reason. Factually inaccurate is also a good reason to overwrite, since you are fixing obvious errors with the image. When images are outdated is a bit more complicated, as there are two options. You can overwrite the image with the new version so that it instantly shows up on all usages and then upload the old version as a separate file, or you can rename the file to show that it is no longer up to date and upload the new version as a separate file. The second option would require manually replacing all the usages with the new file though, so I tend to prefer the first option. Fry1989 eh? 20:01, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, that's what I do too. – Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 12:28, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
