First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper

Colombia PD[edit]

I recommend going to Commons talk:Licensing and describing the new license tag that you want to create there. Discussing it there will bring it to the attention of others who spend a lot of time going over many countries' copyright laws, so they can vet what you're saying (to avoid having someone question it later), and make sure that the tag is phrased properly. --dave pape (talk) 02:53, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Problema por Fair use[edit]

Hola Fefogomez, lo lamento pero la clausula que citas es el uso legítimo fair use, ya que libera las imágenes para uso científico, didáctico, cultural o de interés público (prensa, por ejemplo). El liberarlas para difusión pública no significa que sean libres para modificar o usar comercialmente, dos de los requisitos necesarios en Commons para considerar una imagen como libre. Además, en Image:Misael Pastrana Borrero.jpeg citas como fuente la enciclopedia Salvat, que tiene copyright, es imposible que esta imagen, sacada de esa enciclopedia y con fecha de 1970 pueda, de ninguna manera, acogerse a la ley que mencionas y mucho menos Image:Ernesto Samper 1.jpg, una foto de estudio tomada en 1996. P.D:La mayoría de tus contribuciones tiene problemas de copyright, éste no ha expirado o está sacado de páginas con copyright cuyo material es únicamente para uso privado y no comercial. En alguna de las imágenes donde pones como fuente la Library of Congress añade la url exacta para poder verificar el origen. Las imágenes con la suficiente antigüedad como para que el copyright haya expirado en todos los países son {{PD-Old}}, por lo que he rectificado las que tenían licencias incorrectas y borrado las que, de ningún modo, pueden permanecer en Commons. Te he librado de un bloqueo por repetidas violaciones de copyright y llevo rectificando licencias y borrando imágenes 1 hora, así que no te quejes y a partir de ahora lee con mucha atención Commons:Sobre las licencias para no repetir los mismos errores o no seré tan benévola la próxima vez. Las imágenes que he borrado tenían menos de los 80 años de antigüedad que establece la ley colombiana. Por otra parte, que tú encuentres imágenes mal licenciadas o con licencias falsas no te exime para hacer tú lo mismo, cuando veas una avisa a cualquier administrador o en el café para que sean borradas. Efectivamente cometí un error, el no borrar anoche Image:Jorge Eliécer Gaitán.jpg ya que no comprobé la fecha de defunción y no ha expirado el plazo de copyright aún. En cuanto a los retoques que has hecho de las imágenes en dominio público, no puedes relicenciarlas a tu gusto ya que el trabajo no es suficiente para que se considere una obra creativa por sí misma, así que tienes que respetar la licencia original, aquí tienes la ley.
