There is an error in Image:ChunaBeijingXicheng.png, it should be "China" not "Chuna".

Unfortunately, "move" doesn't work for images. I think you'd have to re-upload the file under the correct name. -- Curps 21:21, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Image:800px-Forbidden City1.jpg[edit]

Cordialement —FoeNyx 10:32, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

You are now an admin on Commons. Congratulations! villy 11:50, 11 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization[edit]

Hello - thanks for helping out with administration work on the commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries), or put the images directly into a category, or do both. Which of those possibilities is preferred is however a matter of debate, see here.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now, see Commons:Really unused. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb 02:27, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - could you have a look at this users talk page (and mine) and help him out a bit? He does not seem to understand english too well. Thanks! -- Duesentrieb 13:12, 17 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

--SEVEN 02:05, 18 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thistle[edit]

Hi Fanghong! I came across your Image:CirsiumJaponicum.jpg. I does not look like photos of Cirsium japonicum from internet - e.g. [1]. The main differences are the heavily spiny-winged stem in your plant and the involucral bracts. I determined your plant as Carduus acanthoides using the draft manuscript for the Flora of China (lower half of text). Cheers --Franz Xaver 26 June 2005 14:14 (UTC)

--Snowyowls 14:47, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Metadata[edit]

As far as I know, wikimedia automatically copies any metadata on the picture file. My expertise is limited so you might want to ask an admin. Good luck! --El Slameron 20:39, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Agaves vs yuccas[edit]

Hi, your Image:AgaveRigida2.jpg is actually a picture of a yucca, not an agave; the leaves are thinner, the flowers bell-shaped and hanging down, etc. I would guess Yucca gloriosa (whose one picture looks more like Yucca recurvifolia to me), but hard to be sure. Stan Shebs 12:27, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

We have lots of recurvifolias here in Las Vegas (in every other yard it seems, used to grow some myself), and some gloriosas, and the striking characteristic of the recurvifolias is that only a handful of the newest leaves are rigid, while gloriosas tend to have the stiffer "agave look" to the rosette. The flowers are nearly identical in appearance. There are some other species possibilities too, as well as hybrids, which is why I wanted to be cautious about deciding on a species. I really should write the WP articles for all of these... Stan Shebs 12:01, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Renminbi[edit]

You have uploaded photos of coins, Image:ChinaCoin.jpg, Image:ChinaCoin2.jpg and Image:ChinaCoin3.jpg, but it seems that photos of the renminbi can not be used commercially. Coins from the People's Republic of China are protected by copyright. The People's Bank of China do not allow commercial use of images of the renminbi.

From Law of the People's Republic of China on the People's Bank of China

Article 19 - It is prohibited to counterfeit or alter the renminbi. It is prohibited to sell or purchase counterfeit and altered renminbi. It is prohibited to transport, hold or use counterfeit and altered renminbi. It is prohibited to deliberately destroy or damage the renminbi. It is prohibited to illegally use images of the renminbi in advertisement, publications or other commodities.

Since the copyright owner do not allow commercial use of these images, they may have to be deleted. Thuresson 04:37, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Fanghong, I'd like to do a suggestion. You have created several galleries for provinces maps in China, a user is uploading photos for all those provinces and we're using your galleries to add them, you can see an example in Xinjiang. The problem is that galleries are bigger now and your maps get a bit lost among the photos. Would you mind if I create a separate gallery for the maps and put it in every province category? For example, a gallery for Xinjiang maps with the category Maps of China, inside Xinjiang category, then I'd add a link in Xinjiang gallery saying See Maps of Xinjiang and so on with the rest of the other provinces maps, that way maps would be easier to locate. I expect your answer. Regards. Anna 02:59, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
