Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Commons:Forum#Lizenzänderung[edit]

Guten Morgen, war mir gar nicht bewusst, dass die Änderungen diskussionswürdig sind. Was ich eigentlich machen wollte ist die Beschreibungsseite der von mir hochgeladenen Bilder zu harmonisieren, die Lizenz hat sich doch nicht geändert - ich erlaube doch weiterhin jedem - unter Nennung der Quelle und des Namens - die Bilder zu verwenden. Die Änderung von CC-BY auf CC-BY-SA ist schon eine Art Einschränkung, da jemand, der aus einem CC-BY-lizenzierten Werk ein eigenes Werk ("Bearbeitung" bzw. "derivative") erstellt, es nicht ebenfalls unter CC-BY stellen muss, wie das bei CC-BY-SA der Fall ist. Praxistip: Wenn es dir nicht wahnsinnig wichtig ist, dann lass es besser. Die Bilder, die ich hier reingestellt habe sind teilweise so alt, dass ich damals einfach gesagt habe, sie seinen Public Domain. Mittlerweile denke ich schon, es sollte zumindest mein Name (Nick) genannt sein, wenn Bilder außerhalb der Wikipedia verwendet werden. Ähem, irgendwie geht das am Thema vorbei. Es geht darum, dass du z.B. bei File:Norderney Ostbake.jpg knapp 3 Jahre nach dem Hochladen die Lizenz von CC-BY auf CC-BY-SA geändert hast, was eine Einschränkung bedeutet, wie oben erklärt. Ich habe mir nur die eine, in dem Forumbeitrag verlinkte Datei angeschaut. Bei der Datei würde es ausreichen, das "sa-" aus dem Lizenzbaustein zu entfernen. Damit würde die ursprüngliche Lizenz bestehen bleiben, gleichzeitig würde aber auch GFDL (eher nutzlos) und CC-BY-SA angezeigt. Im Endeffekt liefe das darauf hinaus, dass du 2 Lizenzen hinzugefügt hast, was völlig in Ordnung ist. --Túrelio (talk) 08:08, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Elvaube, Du als Urheberrechtsinhaber entscheidest beim Hochladen, welche Lizenz Du wählst. Es ist ganz wichtig diese Wahl nicht leichtfertig zu treffen, sonst ärgert man sich im Nachhinein, wenn z.B. ein Nachnutzer die Bilder kommerziell - beispielsweise in Werbung - nutzt und man selbst das Produkt dieser Nutzung nicht benutzen darf und den Nachnutzer nicht zur Unterlassung zwingen kann. Auch wenn das Hochladen und Beschreiben schon kompliziert genug ist; es zahlt sich aus, sich umfassend über Vor- und Nachteile der jeweils gewählten Lizenz zu informieren. Ein paar grundsätzliche Hinweise: Hinzufügen von Lizenzen ist immer möglich, Änderung oder Einschränkung einer vorhandenen Lizenz in der Regel ist manchmal bzw gar nicht möglich. Du kannst aus einer cc-by-sa Lizenz ohne Probleme eine cc-by machen, da die weniger Einschränkungen hat als die originale Lizenz, andersrum geht das nicht. Du kannst von einer Version 3 nicht auf eine ältere Version zurückstufen, andersrum sollte das aber möglich sein. Ersatz von cc-by-sa-3.0 auf GFDL + migration auf cc-by-sa-3.0 kann ebenfalls als (kleine) Einschränkung empfunden werden. --Denniss (talk)

Hallo Elvaube - ich freue mich, dass du dich um die alten Wappen-Dateien kümmerst. Nur wundere ich mich, dass du diesen die Lizenz PD-Coa-Germany zugeordnet hast. In der Vorlage PD Coa Germany heißt es : Dieses Bild stellt das Wappen einer deutschen Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts dar. Nach § 5 Abs. 1 UrhG (Deutschland) sind amtliche Werke wie Wappen gemeinfrei.. Beide Stadtteile sind keine Gemeinden, siehe Körperschaften öffentlichen Rechtes. Sie sind lediglich ein unselbständiger Stadtteil der Stadt Kerpen. Diese historische Wappen sind keine amtliche Hoheitszeichen. Norderney[edit]

Hallo! Es ist schön zu sehen, wenn sich mal jemand um etwas vernachlässigte Kategorien kümmert. Danke! Wie vielleicht schon vermutet, habe ich eine Kleinigkeit. Auf Norderney mag es passen, im Regelfall jedoch nicht. Du hast die Kategorie Category:Cultural heritage monuments on Norderney Category:Buildings on Norderney mitsamt den Unterkategorien zugeordnet. Das ist so nicht ganz richtig. Die Gebäude/Bauwerke sollten direkt in Category:Buildings on Norderney sein. Der Grund ist der, dass Denkmäler mitnichten nur Gebäude sind. Dazu gehören auch Skulpturen (wie das Category:Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmal (Norderney)), Parks und Gartenanlagen oder bewegliche Denkmäler wie Lokomotiven, Bücher oder Münzen. Um hier nicht in die Irre zu führen, sollte man Category:Cultural heritage monuments on Norderney und Category:Buildings on Norderney getrennt sehen. Mein Vorschlag: Ordne den Gebäuden wieder Category:Buildings on Norderney zu und entferne diese Kategorie bei Category:Cultural heritage monuments on Norderney. Schriefersmühle[edit]

Hallo Elvaube, so leid es mir bei diesen historischen Fotos auch tut ...

Dass File:Mönchengladbach Schriefersmühle, Tankstelle.jpg so ohne jegliche Lizenzandeutung hier nicht überleben kann, sollte dir als Oldy eigentlich klar sein. Da das Foto auch auf der Website schriefersmuehle.de steht, könntest du ggf. dort einmal nachfragen, ob etwas über den Urheber bekannt ist (z.B. auf der Rückseite des Fotoprints). Findet sich auch bei gründlicher Recherche kein Urheber, könntest du es mit der Vorlage {{PD-anon-70-EU}} versuchen.
Dasselbe gilt für File:Mönchengladbach Schriefersmühle um 1910.jpg. Wenn sich nach gründlicher Recherche hierfür kein Autor ermitteln lässt, könntest du es auf :de mit dem Baustein {{Bild-PD-alt-100}} hochladen.

@Túrelio: Mittlerweile habe ich eine Antwort vom Stadtarchiv Mönchengladbach erhalten. Sie lautet: Der Verein Schriefersmühle e.V. hat Ihre Anfrage an das Stadtarchiv Mönchengladbach weitergeleitet. Die Fotos wurden dem Verein zwar vom Stadtarchiv zur Verfügung gestellt, hier liegen beide Fotos jedoch nur als Reproduktion vor. Für das ältere Foto der Mühle findet sich in unseren Verzeichnissen der Nachweis, dass es ursprünglich aus einem Album der Pfarrgemeinde Rheindahlen stammt. Die erste mir bekannte Veröffentlichung datiert aus dem Jahr 1971. Das zweite Foto (das Tankstellenfoto) wurde dem Stadtarchiv 1988 von Paul Heinen als Reproduktion übergeben. Herr Heinen ist bereits vor Jahren verstorben. Es handelt sich also meines Erachtens um verwaiste Werke. Das Stadtarchiv wird für diese Reproduktionen keine Lizensierung vornehmen. Das Risiko mit Urheberrechtsansprüchen konfrontiert zu werden, liegt beim jeweiligen Publizisten.

Hallo! Ich sehe immer wieder deine fleißige Sortiererei auch meiner Fotos in der Kategorie "Norderney". Danke dafür! Wenn ich das richtig gesehen habe, nutzt du Hot-cat als Helferlein. Falls du es nicht kennen solltest, schau doch mal nach Cat-a-lot als Helferlein. Das Tool geht recht fix vonstatten. Da die Kategorien "Norderney" und "Buildings on Norderney" derzeit komplett überfrachtet sind, ist das Werkzeug genau das richtige für mich.
