May I, please, get a short statement on whether or not the redone and reloaded pics will now meet your private interpretation of Wikimedia Commons upload and licensing recommendations ... ???
Note: I have left to the foundation the answer to the question whether or not the real "copyright status ante upload" in addition to the file specifications and "the copyright status post upload & licensing" are to be included within the file description. Islandhopper 22:27, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes they are fine now thank you. --|EPO| 22:45, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

PNGs Again

From now on, if possible, I will attempt to save the photos as JPGs via my photo software.--CyberGhostface 23:31, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Licensing

As you saw I´m not that familiar with the licensing policy of wikimedia commons. I do have a written permission by the school administration for the logo http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8d/Joseph-Koenig-Gymnasium-Logo.gif , but I don´t realy now what to do with it. Do I need to send it somewhere? Thanks for your help. the preceding unsigned comment is by Faserland (talk • contribs)

Commons have a system for storing permissions called OTRS. Send them the request you have sent to the school and their reply. When you provide the original e-mail they can see what kind of permission you have asked for and thereby also which permission the school have granted. --|EPO| 11:15, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Photos under category "Washington Univesrity in St. Louis

I am forwarding permission from photographer Baili Min to the OTRS system. I was not aware of this system until I received your message. Pplease do not delete the photos until you can confirm the permission through OTRS. Kindly, --Lmbstl 14:00, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Wimedia Commons copyright

Sorry, I haven't noticed once that the image is ND. I believed it was SA, my mistake, I just took a glance at the licence.

When it comes to the figure, there are for example pictures of people dressed up ([http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grafika:Mario_Japan_Expo_20060707_01.jpg Mario for instance). What about those pictures?

I believe that would be okay. The problem arises when the figure is the only object on the photo and fills up most of it. --|EPO| 18:45, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate

Hej Epo! Takk for sist! I saw you deleted an image for being a duplicate. When I should replace that image in two articles in the Swedish Wikipedia it was a little difficult to find what image it was a duplicate of. If you hade written the name of the other file in the "Reason for deletion", it would have been easier. Just a suggestion for future deletions. --Boivie 07:31, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

same problem on it.wiki, i cant'find the image. --Jacopo86 10:47, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
I am sorry. The correct image would be Image:Spqrstone.jpg.
Will try to remember to mention the duplicate when I delete them. --|EPO| 11:57, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

I saw you deleted Image-Royita.JPG because of copyviol. I think that is not possibile, because this image is the royal coat of arms od italian sovereign house: i.e. is an official document with historical value. Nobody can claim copyright on this image, not even the actual house Savoia. Bye -Massimop 20:50, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

At December 14th User:Bryan marked the image as not tagged with a license tag. At 14:30 (CET) i deleted that image. Perhaps copyvio was not the best reason. I saw it was some kind of logo and just used that for deletion reason. But the main reason was that it have been without license for nearly one month.
I will not discuss wether this image can be copyrighted or not as I do not have sufficient knowledge about that topic. --|EPO| 21:07, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Turkish-provinces.png

Hallo EPO,

SVG version of the map of Denmark

I uploaded the fixed version: I had to re-draw the whole thing, but the fill works now. If you want a different colour just tell me, it'll only take about 5 minutes to change it. Thanks for keeping me occupied! If you need more just ask, I enjoyed doing that one very much. Editor at Large 19:24, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Storstrømsbroen

Hej EPO

--|EPO| 17:53, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Tak. Valentinian (talk) 11:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, could you please check where an image is used before simply deleting it? Several pages on de still used this one. None too important, but it was a near miss: a slightly altered version is used on our main page.

Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, but quite a lot of German Wikipedians aren't exactly happy with Commons (in part due to rash deletions) and incidents like these tend to further fan the flames. Kind regards, —mnh·· 18:11, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I fully understand. But in this case the file had been tagged since august, so I thought it would already have been replaced. But apparently not.
As you can se below the image has now been restored. --|EPO| 19:41, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Removal of superseded images without replacing: please don't

Hi, a few hours ago you removed Image:LogoOV.png that was used hundreds of times on nl.wikipedia. We got notified of this through nl:Wikipedia:CommonsTicker and were not amused. There is no mention of a policy violation in the deletion message and as such there was no reason to remove the image. My request, as is policy as far as I know, is to replace every use of non-policy violations before removing them from the Commons using CheckUsage and possibly bots or whichever tools there may be. As CheckUsage for this particular image shows usage in dozens of wikis, perhaps you can restore the image and only delete it once it has been orphanded? Thanks for your understanding, Siebrand 19:30, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Anmodning om sletning

Hej EPO.

--Broadbeer 22:01, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I wonder what was the reason for deletion. The uploader claimed it is a screenshot of a public domain movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosferatu%2C_eine_Symphonie_des_Grauens). What's wrong with it? --CodeMonk 23:06, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

First I deleted it because the image was without a license for more than one week.
At your request I have taken a closer look in the deletion log to give you a better answer: It has been nominated for deletion and been deleted before apparently because this movie is German. Due to this User:-jha- removed the license with the following reason: "no(!) PD-US. Was German production. (70 years after death of author. if unknown-> wait 100 years)" --|EPO| 19:27, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
I'll contact User:-jha-. --CodeMonk 20:32, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Hej EPO

--Broadbeer 16:35, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Paris - Dakar photos

Ok, I'll do it so. Thanks. Gothmog 21:40, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Images

So, I don't know really where is the problem : not hyperlink as source or no author. In any case, I just see that you have applied the rule which says give a source like a robot, even if that is obvious that this picture is in PD. So for one of them, I have found a web site with this picture, for the other one I will found one. Are you happy now ? That doesn't change anything on the legal/secturity/dangerosity point of view, you know that ? They are people who fight against to much new rules. By doing like you do, I mean without common sense, you give right to this people... and that the worth. Kelson 13:51, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

It is clearly stated that source for images must be provided. If no source is provided the image can be deleted. Even for images for which copyright have expired. --|EPO| 14:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
If this rule has to be applied without any discussion, why don't you ask for deletion all pictures which have a source which is not valid anymore (dead hyperlink) ? I can give you list , I can run a bot to apply your red template on them too, if you want. You have the right to have a dummy politic, but at least be consistent if their application. Kelson 14:07, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
This rule has been valid since Commons was started.
Of course the best would be that all images had a clear source which could be checked at all times. But sometimes websites dies, which makes the source pretty much invalid. For images already having a source it will be case to case judgment if the given source is valid - also depending on the resting informations provided by uploader.
In general though we have higher priority for newly uploaded images and will check any other images we come across. --|EPO| 10:05, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

need licensing review

Hi EPO. I just saw that you're active at the moment. I've been talking to the author of an image on flickr for over a week now, and I'd like to get the process finally over and done with. Could you do a quick {{Flickrreview}} on Image:Whoopi Goldberg - Comic Relief 2006 - Daniel Langer.jpg for me, so I can put it out of my mind? — coelacan10:22, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so much. =) — coelacan10:28, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
No problem :) --|EPO| 10:28, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

www.araldicacivica.it

Sorry EPO, where I make a misatke? I mean: I've uploaded the images just like the others, for example just like the other images in the page [Image:Gignod-Stemma.png], and there is no a direct link. Please help me, thank you, F l a n k e r 11:48, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

When you upload images it is you who have to make sure your images are tagged correctly.
This would be a correct source. Now where does it say that images are GFDL? That page says "Araldicacivica.it©2007 by Carletto Genovese". So if images really are GFDL it must be written somewhere. --|EPO| 11:54, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Err... yes, of course, but since I'm not an expert I figure out that I can just copy/paste the code I've found here. Bytheway, the authorization is here, but is written in Italian. Now I must arrange the informations like this image, right? --F l a n k e r 12:06, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Almost. From http://digilander.libero.it/tdsotm2/ follow link to Valle d'Aosta and Antey-Saint-André, which makes you end up here: http://digilander.libero.it/tdsotm2/ValledAosta/anteysaintandre.htm.
But the colors on the source is pretty dark compared to the image uploaded. So someone must have edited the image. You will need to credit this person. --|EPO| 12:15, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Thank you very much, and sorry for the annoyance. Now I've modified the information of this image: Image:Chambave-Stemma.png, is it correct now? --F l a n k e r 12:34, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
It is better yes. But go to that page the image is from. Copy the url of that web page to Commons - because that is your source.
And as I wrote above it is clear for that image it has been modified - it is lighter than the version from libero.it. The GFDL reuires that if the image is modified the person who do this must be credited if you use this version. --|EPO| 12:41, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Understood, but about Image:Antey-Saint-André-Stemma.png, I'm not the uploader of this particular image but is Massimop. Thank you again and best regards, F l a n k e r 12:52, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I will contact him. Your permission is fine now, just make sure you got the right source. --|EPO| 12:55, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Claudio Arrau

Hello, me gustaria to know so that you erased the image "Claudio Arrau", alone to know, because seems that already habia fixed by previous problems. Many thanks, and excuse if cometi an error. Daga 17:40, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Er der nogen længde på "IFD" debatter?

Hej EPO

Valentinian (talk) 18:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
