An unfree Flickr license was found on File:Belleville Myers Mill, 1792 will s.jpg[edit]

- But this photo of the mill in Belleville is:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
- Can you explain why you are deleting?
- https://www.flickr.com/photos/suckamc/3138586400/in/photolist-9jCQTS-5Mm5oC-5tGgzk-z3LB6E-ACY72G-BeSX2M-BcD1U7-AgXZit-BdURcB-BbynM9-BcDUgf-BcDB3Y-ACcSjB-Bbyi2C-BcDMCW-BcDgFG-AgQErW-ACf3gX-AzVU9F-BbzbJq-BcEeFs-BdScwv-AzV9SG-BdTc18-AzV922 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drenowe (talk • contribs) 01:49, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- Drenowe (talk)
- Firstly I am not an admin, so i don't delete anything, I just review the images, but Indeed I can explain. The source and the Flickr user you provided were false. They actually belong to this image File:Meyer's Mill, Belleville, 01 Martin Cathrae.jpg and were correct which is why I gave that image a good Flickr review. However you also used the same source url and Flickr user for the other Belleville Mill image that is found here in Flickr. It was deleted because it was not freely licensed as it has a clear "All rights reserved" notice and we don't accept them, neither do we accept any images with commercial or derivative restrictions. You just need to be a little more careful when providing the source and author in future. It's a pity as that is a rather nice image.
- BTW, Just a few pointers for you. When an editor has a clear notice on the edit page requesting you to post where the discussion started, you should respect that. It keeps the discussion in one place which is why I moved it back here with my reply. Also add a header to your post by using a title flanked by 2 equal signs each side and then sign the post at the end not way up the page in a completely different discussion where it can be missed, as it was by the SignBot that looks out for unsigned posts. Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 14:01, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Amherstburg, Gordon House, 1798 wiki.1 jpg.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |
Framawiki (please notify) (talk) 20:48, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.Elisfkc (talk) 20:54, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Please sign your postings[edit]
As a courtesy to other editors, it is Commons:Signatures policy to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, deletion requests, and noticeboards. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then automatically be added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). Thank you.

Notification about possible deletion[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Pay attention to licensing
|
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
File:Winnipeg Peck Building 1893.jpg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

Copyright status: File:Winnipeg Bathgate Block, 1882-1883.jpg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Winnipeg Bathgate Block, 1882-1883.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
