You are receiving this message because we noticed that you voted in Round 1 of the 2022 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in the second round. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

In this second and final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2022.

OptimusPrimeBot

Hi! It seems that it doesn't work properly. It tagged multiple redirects (files with these names have been already deleted) as duplicates some hours ago. For example, it has been tagged redirect File:68-05 Chris & Mike (52931311386).jpg more than 10 times (!) as duplicate. Юрий Д.К 17:31, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Юрий Д.К. it's a consequence of https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T337734. Without up-to-date database replicas anymore, the bot did not see it already edited the page previously. This kind of incident is extremely rare. vip (talk) 18:13, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Problem of the bot

The bot is still not functioning properly. It still re-tagging files that are already deleted. Please fix it as soon as possible, or I may request administrative assistance on that. A1Cafel (talk) 08:32, 1 June 2023 (UTC)

Multiple wrong duplicates nominated for deletion

The bot applies the "duplicate" tag to delete the most recent file. However, in this instance, the newer files are actually better because they give details about "Sanborn maps." What is the best way to delete the older files instead? Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 00:16, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

@Ooligan it's up to DPLA bot to improve the descriptions if needed. The duplicate files should not have been uploaded in the first place. My bot always prefers the oldest file. But administrators always review both files and chose wisely, don't worry. vip (talk) 08:02, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
@Don-vip, Thanks for the response on this issue. I did not know if you could do anything, but I wanted to ask. Some Administrators may not notice that the newer files are more informative. I manually undid some of your bot's duplicate tags. Can I tag those oldest files as duplicates? -- Ooligan (talk) 08:47, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
@Ooligan of course :) any help in improving the duplicates detection is welcome. FYI the bot runs every 15 minutes and "fills" the category up to 190 files if needed (to not spam the admins too much). There is currently an enormous backlog of DPLA duplicates (around 2000 files uploaded in the last three days) so it's gonna be a large amount of work. vip (talk) 08:57, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
