Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|Correct name}}
  • For more information read the full Deletion guidelines

Department of Labor seal[edit]

Hi... I noticed you uploaded a different version of Image:US-DeptOfLabor-Seal.svg on top of the existing one... however, it is a quite different graphic style, and should be uploaded under a different name, rather than replacing the existing one (generally only higher-quality versions of the same image should be uploaded as replacements). You probably know more than me about it, but it seems to me that the color scheme you used is common but usually seen more on older depictions of the seal; the existing one matches the version on the current www.dol.gov home page and also newer documents from their site. It is probably useful to have both versions available, so they should be separately uploaded under different names. Is this image what Image:US-DeptOfLabor-Seal-New.svg was originally supposed to be? I recall the SVG of that not working right before. Maybe you could re-upload your version there, and put a link to it in the "Other versions" section of the other images (also, redirects do not really work with images, so that should be changed too). I'd be happy to do that for you if you like. I also just uploaded Image:US-DeptOfLabor-Seal-AltColors.svg, which is another version (similar to yours) that I ran across recently and had not yet uploaded, if that helps.
