First steps tutorial

Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page, write this: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], it makes this: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Покана за участие в „Уики обича Земята“[edit]

Здравей, Дидо!

Пиша ти като на редактор с много допринесени към Общомедия и Уикипедия свободни снимки на българската природа. :) Може вече да си разбрал, а може и сега да научаваш, но от десет дни тече фотоконкурсът „Уики обича Земята“. Състезанието съществува от три години и тази година в България се провежда за първи път – от 1 до 30 юни. Целта е да се съберат снимки от защитените местности, резервати, природни и национални паркове на България. Ще се радвам, ако се включиш и за пореден път допринесеш към Уикипедия със своите снимки. Можеш да качваш и снимки, направени преди периода на конкурса. От всички качени в националния етап на състезанието снимки, журито ще избере десетте най-добри, които ще продължат в международния етап на "Wiki Loves Earth", където победителите ги чакат чудесни награди като участие на конференцията Wikimania'2016 в Италия. :) Поздрави, →Spiritia 17:24, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Поздравления за класиране в Топ 10 на „Уики обича Земята 2016“[edit]

Пиша ти с чудесната новина, че твоите снимки File:Vihren_Pirin_IMG_0859.jpg и File:Pirin_-_Gergiyski_ezera_-_IMG_4439.jpg бяха избрани от националното жури на конкурса „Уики обича Земята 2016“ в Топ 10 и по-точно на пето и десето място, съответно! Освен че снимките ти продължават към международния кръг на конкурса, където ще представя природната красота на България, това класиране ти носи и награда от 100+100 лева под формата на ваучер за книжарница или фотомагазин. Един от колегите ми организатори на конкурса ще се свърже с теб за допълнителни подробности за церемонията по награждаване, която ще се проведе на 1 октомври в Националния природонаучен музей при БАН в София.

Има и още една изненада: десетте снимки в конкурса ще минат през допълнителна селекция и в Съвета по маркоиздаване и една от тях ще бъде отпечатана като официална пощенска марка на Република България! Ще те държим в течение!

„Уики обича паметниците 2016“ започва! :)[edit]

Здравей!

Организационният екип на фотоконкурса „Уики обича паметниците“ те кани от 15 септември до 14 октомври да участваш на тазгодишното издание на конкурса и да помогнеш за съхраняването на културното наследство на България и илюстрирането на свободната енциклопедия Уикипедия. Изпратихме ти това писмо, тъй като знаем за твоята съпричастност към уикипедианската кауза от участието ти в някое от досегашните издания на състезанията „Уики обича паметниците“ или „Уики обича Земята“ през 2015 или 2016 година.

Отново търсим твоите снимки от културните паметници на България – манастири и църкви, възрожденска архитектура, автентични крепости, музеи и музейни експонати. И тази година няма ограничения на броя снимки, с които можеш да участваш в конкурса. 25, 50, 100 или повече – зависи от теб! Както всички фотографски конкурси в Уикимедия, най-важното условие е, че трябва да предоставиш снимките си под свободен лиценз, без водни знаци и други надписи с декларации за авторството върху тях. Още за правилата на конкурса можеш да прочетеш оттук.

Най-добрите 10 снимки, които журито класира от националния кръг на конкурса, ще продължат в международния кръг на „Уики обича паметниците“, където ще представят страната ни. А авторът на снимката-победител на международния кръг ще получи като награда участие на световната уики-конференция „Уикимания“, която ще се проведе през август 2017 година в Монреал, Канада.

Но по-важното е, че твоите снимки междувременно ще помогнат за илюстрирането на съществуващите статии в Уикипедия, а защо не и да вдъхновят написването на нови статии, свързани с българската култура и история! получаваш това писмо, тъй като миналата година си участвал/а в изданията на „Уики обича Земята“ през 2015 или 2016 г. или „Уики обича паметниците“ 2015 или 2016. До края на този месец юни, те каним отново да участваш в тазгодишното фотосъстезание „Уики обича Земята 2017“.

Отново търсим твоите снимки от защитените природни обекти на България – национални и природни паркове, резервати, защитени местности и природни забележителности и отново това могат да са както пейзажи, така и снимани в близък план животни и растения. Специален акцент тази година поставяме на снимките на балканските и българските еднемични растителни видове. Отново няма ограничения за броя снимки, с които можеш да участваш в конкурса и можеш да използваш същата регистрация в Общомедия като миналогодишната. Не е нужно и снимките да са правени през този един месец – можеш да разгледаш архивите си и да споделиш снимки и от минали години и сезони. Единственото условие на конкурса е да отдадеш снимките си под свободен лиценз и без водни знаци и други надписи с декларации за авторството върху тях.

Авторите на първите 10 класирани снимки ще продължат в международния кръг на „Уики обича Земята“ и ще представят страната ни. Някои от партньорите ни в конкурса ще предоставят награди – книги по география и екология. Междувременно, ако качиш над 25, 50 и 100 снимки, ще получиш съответно виртуална бронзова, сребърна и златна УОЗ-значка  ;)

Но най-важното за „Уики обича Земята“ е, че с дарените от теб снимки енциклопедичното знание, достъпно на български език, се разраства и подобрява, тъй като използваме снимките за илюстриране на съществуващи и създаване на нови статии в Уикипедия! Затова не се колебай, а участвай! :)
