A barnstar for you![edit]

The Photographer's Barnstar
Perhaps words cannot translate your artwork. “Congratulations” is too little to say about your collection of images here at Wikimedia Commons. Without a doubt, of all images I have ever seen, yours are an innovation to the independent fantasy-oriented free culture in this century. I wish you produce even more and feel happy to be sharing this genius work. Thales Travalon (talk) 20:13, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Permission statement?[edit]

I have been looking over your art work— some pretty nice stuff! So nice, in fact, that I think Commons needs a permission statement from you verifying your identity for us so that we can be sure you are indeed the original author (especially as the web page here suggests that these images are all fully copyright protected). Are you familiar with the process of submitting a permission statement? Once your statement has been processed, each of your images should be tagged as having a ticket number and statement of permission. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. It isn't strictly necessary, but it would be a really good idea!

Alternatively, you could change the licensing shown on the webpage I just mentioned to correlate with that of the images here on Commons, and then provide that webpage as the "source" for the images here (actually, that should be done as well, not just instead of). Answer

Hi kds4444, I hope this is the good place to write an answer to your message: [[1]] . I understand your concerns; and here is a proof that it's me Deevad, aka David Revoy owner of the account on Wikimedia: proof . I hosted this screenshot of your message on my website, that's the only idea I had to proof my identity. Secondly, about Sintel, The footer of the page says "All artwork are copyrighted by David Revoy unless otherwise noted." and at the end of the page in the article of Sintel, it's written the CC-BY license. Let me know if all of this is OK to you, and thank you for helping to triage the big database of Wikimedia and clean the permission issue. :-) -David — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deevad (talk • contribs) 17:17, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good start! What we need is a formal permission statement for each picture— one saying that yes, you agree to release the image under the terms of one or another license. Have you ever done this before?? KDS4444 (talk) 13:42, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like I have stymied you. I just looked at this image, which is clearly a professional drawing, but has no permission statement (which, because it is so good, it should!). I lose track of stuff like this unless I am pinged— but I have caught this one. So let me know if you need help with submitting your permission statements. Your art deserves to be protected, and to do that we need to verify that you are indeed YOU! Yes? Thank you! KDS4444 (talk) 23:15, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I also lost a bit track of this quest. Thanks for taking care. How can I do a mass permission statement ? A single document with many thumbnails and titles can be efficient ? I just would like to avoid doing this per picture ; imagine the work on all the sources of Pepper&Carrot :D . -David Deevad (talk) 15:54, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up in 2023[edit]

Hello Deevad, and thank you for your many contributions to Wikimedia Commons! According to the discussion above in 2017, you seem reluctant to create permission statements for each uploaded work one by one via the release generator. This is understandable considering the many files you have uploaded. You have done everything correct and by-the-book, and often verification is unnecessary when a Commons user is the sole creator of the work. Unless the contributions are of "outstanding or professional quality", which may be the case here. Would you consider one of the following options?

  1. Link yourself to your Commons user account by updating the page https://www.davidrevoy.com/static2/about-me and adding a question "Are you user Deevad on Wikimedia Commons?" (or something more general if you also want to link to other accounts that you use on other platforms) and from there link to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Deevad, or
  2. Link yourself to your Commons user account by verifying your user account by contacting the Volunteer Response Team (VRT), or
  3. Sending the Volunteer Response Team (VRT) a clear statement that your Commons account "Deevad" is authorized to license your works.

Any of the options should remove the risk that the origin of any of your past (or potential future) contributions are questioned. --Bensin (talk) 19:51, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bensin, thank you for reopening the case and offering me a simplier and less time consuming way to make a global statement. I choose (1) and you'll find on [2]https://www.davidrevoy.com/static2/about-me the question (around the end of the list). Let me know if I should add more, I can also make a little video segment of me telling it with my voice while browsing my profile. Thank you for taking seriously impersonation and authentification. I have indeed many bad reusage of my work around the web and even impersonator. I appreciate the precision and search for proof spirit of Wikipedians. 👍 Deevad (talk) 21:36, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I have now updated the Wikidata page (see edit here) which has an entry stating that your Wikimedia username is "Deevad", and added a source for that claim by linking to an Internet Archive copy of your updated web page. That should do it. --Bensin (talk) 22:37, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
👍💜 Perfect! Thank you. Deevad (talk) 09:25, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Popolon (talk) 20:41, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
