Reminder[edit]

You should not vote in the POTY this year, you are banned. I would suggest that an ad is not really in good taste although it might technically not be specifically disallowed. So I would ask you to remove it. ++Lar: t/c 11:56, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(refactored from User_talk:Lar per w:User:Lar/Pooh policy) You said that my advertisement on my user page because I can't vote (banned), but I'm not sure because your message was a little unclear. I'll remove it, though. Deathgleaner (talk) 01:42, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It was a request, rather than a demand. I just think it is "poor form" to have a "campaign ad" if you yourself are not supposed to vote, so I made the suggestion. Thank you for honoring it, that was thoughtful of you. Best wishes. ++Lar: t/c 13:32, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Deathgleaner!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Your ban[edit]

Doesn't this go against your ban from Featured picture discussions and other community votes? Either way (talk) 13:26, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe so. I just out it there to fill in a red link on the image desc page (the one that says it is a f p )Deathgleaner (talk) 21:08, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Glass_orbs_at_Museum_of_Glass_1.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

No need for resized images on wikis[edit]

I see you have resized a number of images for use on another wiki. The wiki software is quite capable of scaling images to any size automatically, you just need to specify the size when inserting it into the page. On the wiki where you added the images you can right-click on the image and choose 'properties' and change the size etc there. Commons does not keep duplicate copies of images scaled to different sizes (or we would need thousands of copies of images at each size ever used). Thanks :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 23:16, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

minecraft[edit]

Thanks for showing interest in the NBT chart. I uploaded it to go along with a wikipedia article about a minecraft save editing program called NBTexplorer. The file contains descriptions of the data tags inside of a minecraft NBT format file. The heading "Subcategory" shows what subcategory (TAG_COMPOUND inside of the file) the key is in. "Key Name" contains the name of the key. "Safe to Change" tells if the key can be safely changed. If it says no, changing it may corrupt your save. "Data Type" tells the type of data the key holds. Google the type of data if you are not sure what it can hold. Finaly, "Description" is a quick description of the key's purpose, or what data it holds. A blank space means that heading is not applicable for that tag. I hope this helps you understand the chart, if you have any more questions about it please ask! --Acomputerdog (talk) 17:30, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please add some proper descriptions to your images?[edit]

If you read this in time, can you please add some proper descriptions to your images (including the ones nominated for deletion above; please mention this at the deletion nomination if you add the information).

Some of them might be worth keeping if we knew what they were- without that information they're not very useful, which puts them out-of-scope (hence the deletion nominations); Commons isn't a repository for abitrary images, unfortunately.

Thank you. Ubcule (talk) 19:09, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The deleted images above weren't meant to be useful. LOL!
Anyways I'll see what I can do about the rest of my images.
Deathgleaner (talk) 01:19, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Having checked, it appears that some of them (even the nominated for discussion ones) were deleted alredy by an admin.
To be honest, if you just wanting to upload "random" images that aren't useful, this isn't the place for it. Try Flickr or something instead. Ubcule (talk) 18:21, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
