Vandalism in Category:Cactaceae

Hi Anna, thanks for attanding on this matter. As I built Category:Cactaceae up from a true mess and contributed many of its images I'm feeling responsible for it somehow. Currently I'm very unhappy with the heavy overdone categorizing of the anonym user 200.40.88.182. Not any possible categorizing makes sense and helps users to find what they look for. An overdone categorizing that hides images in unreasoning subcategories is even counterproductive. The following is a copy of what I wrote on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Attention.

I don't understand any word, but this anonym user needs to be stopped. He or she likes to overdo and recently super-categorized articles in Category:Cactaceae a third time. The species articles, previously easy to find in the main category are now again hidden in overdone subcategories down to tribe level. A rest of genera he or she doesn't seem to know about lonely remains in the main category. So for any not completely familiar with plant family Cactaceae the species are now again very tricky to find. The overdone categorizing also builds a barrier for new entries. Of course divisions into subfamily categories are sometimes useful, particularly if the family is very large and if the plants in the certain subfamilies are quite different. In the medium-sized and pretty consistent Cactaceae however a division is soon overdone. I generally doubt the sense of tribe categories. Before I revert the overdone categorizing a third time I'm asking a Spanish speaking admin to warn this user of overdoing a forth time. Btw, for any actually interested in a tree structure down to tribe and genus level there is already one present in article Cactaceae. Thanks. --Ies 17:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

(Coppied from my user page) Thank you for your explanation, but you should have asked for help to a Spanish speaking admin as soon as you saw the anonymous insisted on creating the categories. It is not very wise to acuse of vandalism to an user's contributions, registered or not, in the first place, when you did not bother to explain the reasons to delete those categories. The anonymous is following a different type of categorization which, you may be right, is superfluous, but anonymous users deserve the same respect as registered ones so an explanation is due. I suggest you to change the speedydeletion tag for a deletion request instead to determine if the categories should be deleted. Meanwhile I'll explain the user your reasons. Cheers. Hi Anna, I'm afraid I can't agree. If a user, anonymous or not, causes basic changes in obviously cleaned and maintained categories it's his or her duty to discuss and explain these changes beforehead. If it were my duty to inform admins in any case of reverting improper and nonsense categories of Spanish or whatever language speaking users I had to do this many times erery single day. And if that were a valid wiki rule admins would be drawn in requests like this. You wrote "you should have asked for help to a Spanish speaking admin as soon as you saw the anonymous insisted on creating the categories." but that was completely impossible for me. When I found the categories changed the first time I just reverted them silent to the previous order. When I found them changed a second time I felt annoyed but again reverted them silent to the previous order. When I found them changed a third time I went to the anonymous users talk page and left a warning there. To my surprise I got a response on my talk page that appeared Spanish to me. How should I have known about the anonymous users language if he or she doesn't have a user pages and didn't write any Spanish word before? I also disagree that "The anonymous is following a different type of categorization". Have you noticed that Category:Cactaceae currently a third time contains subspecies and genus categories side by side? This does not at all correspond to any accepted taxonomical system as "different type of categorization" but is obvious, ignorant vandalism. Own photography

You removed all the pictures I've personnaly make with description and licence. I was here and the photo are directly taken from the forum or the screen display. Escudo El Padul

Hola Anna, he visto que has borrado el archivo del escudo de El Padul. Esta imagen ha estado en commons durante mucho tiempo, pero hace poco un tal "dodo" la eliminó. Yo intenté subir la que tienen a disposición en la página de este ayuntamiento, pero me lío un montón con esto de las licencias GNU y esas cosas. De hecho puse el enlace de la página y la referencia del boletín oficial donde se aprobó este escudo. Si es necesario algún tipo de escrito del ayuntamiento dando permiso, te agradecería que me indicaras qué deben de escribir exactamente (no sé lo que es "la licencia GNU de Usamos LINUX y PHP-NUKE bajo licencia GNU"; para ser sincero, esto me suena a chino). Mi objetivo sencillamente que en la página de Wikipedia de El Padul vuelva a lucir el escudo oficial del municipio, tal y como estaba la semana pasada.Jadelmo 13:32, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Traducción en Commons

Hola, mi nombre es Astur1, y soy administrador de la Wikipedia en Asturiano. ver aquí Astur (los nicks Astur y Astur1 no coinciden pero soy la misma persona, cuando me registré en Commons no me permitía usar el mismo nick; pero puedes verificarlo aquí).

La comunidad está traduciendo al asturiano las páginas de Commons para los Usuarios de ast:Uiquipedia e intentando que los enlaces de la columna de la izquierda (En "mis preferencias", ha de estar seleccionado logicamente idioma:ast (asturianu)) enlacen en los sitios correctamente. Así, por ejemplo:

• "Entamu" enlaza en la página Entamu; esto está bien pero..
• "Welcome"(inglés) tendría que ser "Bienllegáu" (asturianu), y enlazar en la página Commons:Bienllegáu.
• "Village pump"(inglés) tendría que ser "Chigre" y apuntar a la página Commons:Chigre
• ...y "Xubir" está bien, pero enlaza en la página (mitad traducida, mitad inglés) http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload ; y es necesario traducirla al asturiano, pero está bloqueada.

Ninguno de nosotros es administrador en Commons y por esta razón no podemos cambiar esto. Puedes ayudarme desbloqueándola unos días para que me de tiempo a cambiarlo o decirme la manera de hacerlo? Gracias y un saludo. P.D. Si tienes alguna duda, puedes consultarnos en ast:Uiquipedia:Chigre, el bar de la Wikipedia Asturiana. Otra solución es que algún administrador de la Uiquipedia lo fuese también en Commons, para que tengamos algún representante aquí, pero por el momento, no sé si alguno de nosotros tiene méritos suficientes como para eso. ¿Qué se requiere? Perplejidad

Hola Anna: Te molesto porque veo que tu estas bien informada de lo que pasa en "commons". Estuve un tiempo sin entrar a Commons y ahora percibo que han sido borradas un 30 a 40% de mis fotos que habia subido, todas las cuales estaban utilizadas en varios artículos. Podrias decirme que ha sucedido? es algun cambio de politica o algo asi? Me parece muy raro, porque efectivamente son fotos hechas por mi que ilustraban articulos como por ejemplo w:es:Juli. Category:Santiago de Compostella

No es la primera vez que me encuentro con imágenes subidas por ese usuario. Ahora son bastantes. Los datos de las imágenes son escasísimos (fotos hechas en el camino de Santiago. 2005) . No reconozco nada, no me atrevo a decir ni siquiera -creo que no lo son- que las vacas de las imágenes son de la raza rubia gallega.

Lo único que se me ocurre es renombrar la categoría, es decir, cambiar la denominación a Category:Unidentified images of the way of St. James y categorizarla en Category:Way of St. James y en Category:Unknown subject. ¿Que te parece? Hola Anna. Gracias por tu mensaje. Somos los dueños de la foto 'Alpromo.jpg' que haz borrado. La subimos al Commons con la advertencia indicada. Tal vez haya un malentendido con los códigos de Wikipedia y no la estamos subiendo bien. Intentaremos subirla nuevamente esta vez SIN el copyright en la foto, pero nuevamente con la advertencia indicada en el Commons. Si notas que podemos hacer algo diferente para comprorbar que somos dueños del Copyright, por favos dinoslo. Mil gracias por tu ayuda!
