Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

You are simply not allowed to upload non-free Internet images to Commons. Don't do it.

This image File:Logo de Viña del Mar 2012.png is free from copyright and therefore is not a violation of copyright or Chilevision Television Company. On what do you base your claim that this logotype is not protected by copyright? (By the way, this claim completely contradicts your claim that it is published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 copyright license by the copyright holder.) The terms linked to from the bottom of http://www.vina2012.cl/ state very clearly in section 4 (a) that it is protected by copyright and that it is completely proprietary and non-free: "Todos los contenidos del Sitio, marcas, diseños gráficos, aplicaciones, software, etc., son de propiedad de Chv o de los proveedores de contenido de éste. En consecuencia, están protegidos por los Tratados Internacionales y leyes de propiedad intelectual e industrial vigentes. Queda expresamente prohibido a los usuarios por sí o autorizar a terceras personas a reproducir, comercializar, copiar, modificar y/o respaldar los Contenidos del Sitio. Combate1, gracias por intentar ayudar a la Fundación Wikimedia, pero recuerda que ésta debe ser de contenido libre y cuando desees subir algún multimedia que no sea tuyo investiga cuidadosamente antes de subirlo y pide permido del individuo o entidad encargada. Los derechos de autor son un derecho humano y debemos respetarlos.

Si querías incluir un logo semejante al oficial del LIII Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar deberías haberlo hecho tú mismo y no idéntico, tal como es el caso del que pongo de Pepsi.

Cualquier cosa que resulte o que surja posteriormente y tengas dudas, puedes consultarnos a todos en el Café de Commons o bien en mi página de discusión te atenderé.
