Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, ComMonster!

Hi ComMonster. For cases like this, a 'no permission' tag would be better suited. The uploader linked the source and author, so he or she may not have intended copyright violation. Marking it as no permission informs the user about permissions, so we can assume good-faith. Thanks! --ZooFari 18:02, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestion. Jcb advised me to use the 'copyvio'. All those possibilities... ComMonster (talk) 18:11, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Posters[edit]

Thanks for the help. I do have permissions from Sandpiper Permissions which cover a number of images - not all of which I have had time to upload. The permissions were sent to your editor Aaron Adrignola who said that he's just now tagged the recent additions. I had written before uploading. No copyright violations intended. Sorry for the aggravation. Best regards, Robert (Sinclairindex)

I'm glad you have permissions. Did you know you could use {{subst:OP}} to avoid messages like mine? See OTRS Pending. ComMonster (talk) 18:45, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that. Very helpful Thanks a lot.
Best regards,

I have no idea what I'm doing[edit]

I'm trying to understand what I'm suppose to do. You noted a photo I had uploaded needed attribution. I'm not sure how I'm to address this. I shot the photo in the mayor's office of the small parish in France. I tried to find descendants of the subject, but no one knows any in the region. The original photo is over one hundred years old. What can I reasonably do? Mlane 13:02, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

If it's really that old, it's most likely the photographer died a long time ago too. Don't publish it as your own work, but put for instance the template {{PD-old}} on your photopage. ComMonster (talk) 20:12, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

deleted photos[edit]

Hi, my photo's of Belgian comedian Piet De Praitere were deleted. I have permission to publish them from Piet De Praitere, who bought the copyrights from the photographer. Is there a way to describe such a construction on commons?

I think there is a way, see the information on Commons:OTRS (and some background information on Commons:Permission). ComMonster (talk) 21:57, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll get to it. Is there a way to include the Commons:OTRS link in the automatic message that a user receives when his/her file is deleted? It is most helpfull, and I think a lot of users simply give up after a delete. Greets, Mushlack (talk) 09:57, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The information is given during the upload proces. If people would read more carefully, we wouldn't have to delete so much files. :) ComMonster (talk) 20:02, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
