Image:Luftwaffe pilots discuss route.jpg and other[edit]
Please don't upload images with unknown copyrights status on Commons. See Commons:Licensing for details. If you think (but don't sure) that some of them are free (for example, public domain), please discuss their copyrights status on Commons:Village Pump first. --EugeneZelenko 15:11, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
No license[edit]
Most of the images available at ww2incolor.com are not public domain, see FAQ. Images with an unknown copyright status will have to be deleted. Thuresson 17:10, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Alejandro_Jodorowsky.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Alejandro_Jodorowsky.jpg. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org).
Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. Polarlys 01:40, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

- Deleted as copyright violation: Prohibida la reproducción total o parcial de los mismos sin autorización escrita del titular del copyright. -- Bryan (talk to me) 17:41, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- I looked at the English Wikipedia image, and it is clearly an invalid permission, because except for fair use on the English Wikipedia there are the same rules as on Commons. The permission you gave is unfortunately insufficient. Permission must be given under a free license, such as the GFDL, cc-by-sa-3.0, cc-by-3.0, or the permission must explicitly allow commercial use and derivative works (modification). The permission on the website unfortunately only grants permission for redistribution, however on Wikimedia Commons images must be free in the sense that they can be freely redistributed, sold and modified by anybody. If you have any questions, let me know. -- Bryan (talk to me) 19:33, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Imagen[edit]
No puedes. --Dodo 07:05, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 09:34, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Alejandro jodorowsky gr.jpg[edit]
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Alejandro jodorowsky gr.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Cerato. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Cerato~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
