St Philips & St James Church. Burtle - geograph.org.uk - 117490.jpg

seems to get filled with various stuff too. Sample: File:St Philips & St James Church. Burtle - geograph.org.uk - 117490.jpg. -- User:Docu at 18:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

The source for this categorisation seems to be en:Template:GeoGroupTemplate -> en:Category:Geographic coordinate lists -> en:Category:Geocodes -> en:Category:Classification systems. The same template is also the reason for many categorisations in Category:GIS. /Ö 20:47, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Looks like in the meantime you removed about 200 files from the above category! Thanks. -- User:Docu at 05:39, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Workflow

I inserted a short summary about the bot at Commons:Categories#Categorization_workflow. -- User:Docu at 15:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Please delete images

Hi. Your bot noticed that I had not categorised some images:

However these images all have a deletion request on them, because they are duplicates uploaded in error. Please could you kindly delete them for me? Thank you.Storye book (talk) 11:00, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
If you use {{Duplicate}}, it's more likely that an administrator will find and delete them. I added it to Image:High Coniscliffe 101.jpg as a sample. -- User:Docu at 11:04, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Any idea ...

How this categorisation can happen ? --Foroa (talk) 18:03, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

I suppose your question is about Category:神社?
The bot speaks Japanese ;)
Maybe as the ja_wiki article it's being used in is in the category ja:Category:神社? The gallery 神社 is also listed.
Once RussBot goes through it, it should be ok. -- User:Docu at 18:16, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
The redirect {{Categoryredirect}} is not in the list of templates. Multichill (talk) 18:19, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
The problem with template redirects complete list as is now. --Foroa (talk) 10:36, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Maybe Russbot could replace them with {{Category redirect}}. -- User:Docu at 10:42, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

mk.wiki images

We try to clean up the file namespace from mk.wiki, I hope that we can organize ourself to transfer images to commons and categorize them in proper way. For the begining I just copy few of them (total number of files in namespace are aproximately 5.000), to see how it will function. Next we need to pair copyright templates from mk.wiki and commons. Some of the images at mk.wiki will be deleted if they are not free. Also if you find out that some of them transfered here at commons are not free please delete them. It will take a time, but we need to start. Thank you. --Brest (talk) 13:28, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

This is a talk page of a bot. See Commons:Moving to Commons for best practice. Multichill (talk) 00:21, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Exclusion list (category to track use of magic word)

The bot added the above images directly into the category that should have been done through a magic word, e.g. here. Please add it to the exclusion list. -- User:Docu at 06:25, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, CategorizationBot. Can you maybe add a special case so images are not added to Category:Family names? I am removing that category from around 100 images tonight. It is almost never a correct category to add. Better yet, if you can determine why it is added, maybe the category tree itself can be fixed. Thank you. Wknight94 talk 01:46, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

File:Polar Bear on Ice.jpg was uploaded in November 2009. Shouldn't CategorizationBot have marked it with Category:Media needing categories (until today, as I have inserted the file into a category) ? Teofilo (talk) 13:39, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

It's a fuzzy conservative algorithm to mark images as uncategorized so images slip through. Every once in a while I tag all images only containing hidden categories. It's probably about time to do that again. Multichill (talk) 20:30, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Basic fixes

Hi, you might want to add Commons:Tools/pywiki file description cleanup to this bot. -- User:Docu at 11:15, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

That's out of the scope of this bot. Multichill (talk) 20:32, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Any idea why some images remain uncategorised ?

Examples are: Special:Contributions/Dorogifc and Special:UncategorizedFiles. --Foroa (talk) 05:17, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

As a partial explanation, I found out that images with a non existing template, such as {{Public Domain}} or {{Information xxx}} seem considered categorised (I just created a redirect from it to {{PD}}).
I noticed already an enormous amount of non existing templates. Is there any way to get a list of them ? --Foroa (talk) 13:51, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Special:WantedTemplates was meant to do that, but .. -- User:Docu at 07:20, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
See #File:Polar Bear on Ice.jpg was not in Category:Media needing categories, if a template not on my ignore list is encountered, the bot assumes this template adds a category. Multichill (talk) 20:33, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
