Dear Carol,

I doubt that NebMaatRa will respond to your message. He has not made any contributions to Wikimedia Commons/WikiCommons since January 2009 according to this But you can surely use his image because as I explained in my private E-mail message to you, all images on Wikimedia Commons are licensed freely for any purpose which includes educational purposes and for commercial profit. He uploaded it himself. Why does WikiCommons have this liberal open policy? The answer, as an Administrator told me here is because WikiCommons cannot possibly control what people choose to use the images for in the first place.

This image from flickr here has Never been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and even if it was, it will both Fail flickrreview and be deleted within 7 days at the latest. Why? Because it has a Non-Commercial use restriction on its license--if you look closely--which is not acceptable for the WikiCommons project. All images on WikiCommons must be licensed copyright free at upload and once they pass flickr review on a copyright free license with no non-Commercial and no-non Derivative use restrictions like this license, they are non-revocable as long as the flickr account owner didn't steal the image from someone else's flickr account. (ie. the image is your own photo and so you are the copyright owner). The second image is my photo and I license it freely on flickr for anyone to use--for any purpose whatsoever without restrictions except attribution to the author. (me here.) Best wishes on your project, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:24, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
